Blocked Nose: 5 Remedies For It!

Blocked Nose: 5 Remedies For It!

A blocked nose is not only annoying, but is extremely discomforting. Several reasons can be held responsible for it and common cold is certainly not the only one. Some other reasons include:
1. Flu
2. Allergy
3. Sinus

Therefore, the remedial measures for blocked nose vary, depending on the cause that led to it. Some of the ways by which you can redress this problem are:

  1. Use a humidifier: Sinusitis is often held responsible for a clogged nose, a condition that is almost always accompanied by severe pain. In such a situation, placing a humidifier in a room proves to be extremely beneficial. This machine treats blocked nose by converting the water to moisture. This fills up the room and significantly increases the humidity of the room. Therefore when you breathe, the humid air soothes the inflamed blood vessels in the nose and helps you to breathe properly.
  2. Take a hot shower: When you find it difficult to breathe, a quick hot shower can go a long way in curing the discomfort. The logic that operates is the steam generated from the hot shower thins the mucus and also considerably reduces the inflammation in the nose, allowing you to breathe normally.
  3. Drink lots of water: Though the suggestion may seem incredible, drinking water actually helps in un-blocking that blocked nose. When you drink a lot of water, the mucus in the nostrils is thinned, at the same time it pushes back the accumulated fluids, thereby curbing the condition of blocked nose.
  4. Using a saline spray: This is one of the most ancient and trusted ways of treating blocked nose. By administering a saline or a nasal spray, the moisture in your nostrils increases and radically diminishes the inflammation.
  5. Use warm compresses: Using a warm compress has been the most reliable form of medication in times of high temperature and also at times of blocked nose. The compress that was dipped in hot water, when placed on the nose and forehead helps to unblock the nasal passages. The soothing effect of the warm compresses reduces the inflammation and facilitates the process of breathing.

I am getting regular treatment for getting washed and clean my ears. Can this be normal wax formation in ears?

I am getting regular treatment for getting washed and clean my ears. Can this be normal wax formation in ears?
Ear canals are not meant for wax blockage. Ear canal skin migrates and renews itself every 15 days. If canal is blocked, get it cleaned by doctor and subsequently no clean technique is best strategy. Put olive oil drops if itching occurs. No cleaning with ear buds.

I am a 34 year old female. I have never had sinusitis before. Since the last 2 months I have been suffering from severe sinus, due to which I experience severe pain to the left side of my head, jam and the back of my head. Is there a natural therapy for it. How can it be treated?

Get nasowash (cipla). Learn how to use it daily. If no improvement, consult ENT doctor. U may need ct scan of sinuses.

Your clinical history suggest you suffered sudden sensorineural hearing loss. I advice you to consult ent specialist as soon as possible. Get your hearing test (audiometry) done. That will help in clinical diagnosis.

I have using nasal drops over 5 years. How to avoid these drops and how maintain my normal breath.

If you have stuffy nose, not putting on drops. Then you probably have rhinitis medicamentosa. Best treatment is reducing frequency of putting drops. If no relief then surgical option is considered (which is also very safe)

I am suffering from tonsillitis from many years. I do remedies my tonsillitis is cure when I drink when I eat it's on again come. I do Ayurveda treatment and allopathic treatment Allopathy cefpodoxime cefixime cetrizine Azithromycin and all kind of antibiotic but again and again I am suffering of tonsillitis what should I do.

Tonsillitis is pretty common. Present guidelines suggest that if you have more than 4 to 5 episodes of tonsillitis in a year, or you have difficulty swallowing food, or you snore because of tonsils, then its better to get them operated and removed (surgical removal is absolutely safe, it would not harm your body in any way) if anything less, it can be managed medically.

Dear, Most likely you have got otitis externa, which is bacterial infection of external ear. Take paracetamol 500 mg three times a day, take soft diet, dont chew, and apply warm packs around ear. It should resolve. If you find no effect, you need to consult ent doctor in person. Hope this opinion helps.
