: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

I'm 18 year old. I got a pain in left leg's knee joint while walking too far distance. Then what can I do for this ?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. If there is only pain with no associated s/s of ant inflammation or infection like swelling, skin redness, local warmth etc and there is no h/o any injury to your knee, I will advise initially for conservative management for 2-3 weeks - start with intensive knee physical therapy with a physiotherapist - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily .Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. .Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily – lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana ? Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Kindly show me photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Kindly take biod3 max 1 tab dailyx10 paracetamol 250mg od & sos x5days do back (spine)/shoulder/knee exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do not ignore it. It could be beginning of a serious problem. If no relief in 4_5 days, then contact me again.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomentation. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. For emergency treatment contact your nearest hospital or family doctor. I am not prescribing any medicines depending only on the symptoms. If these steps does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again.

My mother is 50 years old and has diabetes. She has been undergoing acute pain below the shoulder blade, and also near the heart region. Has to take painkillers daily. She believes it might be cervical pain, that sounds reasonable for the shoulder blade pain but what about near the heart? Also she has arthritis and is not supposed to walk much.

1. Start with Physiotherapy treatment and Spinal decompression treatment. 2. Learn spinal exercises. 3. Don't sit on floor. 4. Don't lift heavy things. 5. Apply volini cream before sleeping. 6. Do Hot fermentation twice a day. 7. Use lumber spine belt. 8. Take calcium, vitamin D 3 and Methylcobalmine supplement for one month minimum. 9. Share your MRI REPORT.

For headache take tablet paracetamol and you need to start with tablet folvite once a day for six months.

Hi your nervous pain might be occurring due to some compression of nerve in you neck region (cervical region) this can happen due to tight muscle as you are young it should be definately due to tight muscle aroung you neck so try to take some hot pack twice a day for 10 minutes each your muscle will get relaxed and then you should feel better if not, then I think you should show it to some physiotherapist.

You should take acupressure therapy and take biochemic ferrum phos 200x+ kali mur 200x 4 tab each thrice a day with warm water and take it 5 days

Whenever you do breathing in and out you will feel pain in the upper back, middle back and also the pain will radiate upwards until the shoulder and also up to the chest. You might feel chest congestion and tightness and that be due to gastric trouble. Kindly do breathing exercises which might help you to get reduced with pain in the back and shoulder. Drink hot water to reduce the gastric trouble. Kindly consult gastroenterologist if you doesn’t improve.

Hello, please send me your all investigation reports. This condition is called recurrent dislocation of shoulder. Till then follow these advises:- 1. Take calcium supplements and sun bath daily to prevent further damage to your joints. 2. Avoid heavy lifting. 3. Avoid all weight bearing activities and excessive movements of your shoulder joint. 4. Rest your shoulder as much as you can. 5. Perform some gentle exercises and stretching of your all joints before getting out of your bed. 6. Walk straight with shoulder protracted. 7. Perform deep breathing exercises or yoga for proper functioning of lungs. I will explain you stiffness and pain reducing techniques in the next session. Wish you a happy and pain free life thanks.

Hello, this is Dr. Mathur from new delhi, welcome to lybrate. As far as your backache is concerned, the most common causes of back ache are postural or weakening of bone due to low vitamin d. Please also let me know if you have any fever, loss of weight or appetite, which would indicate an infective pathology. Is the pain confined to the back or does it radiate to the legs as well? please get an x ray dorsal spine ap and lateral view and the following blood tests fasting: vitamin d, uric acid, calcium, phosphorous, alkaline phosphatase and revert back with investigations reports. In the meantime you can start tab zinase d 3 times a day after meals, tab pantocid 40 mg's once a day before breakfast and tab corcium k2 once a day in the evening. Make sure you're not allergic to any of these medicines before starting them.

Hi I am Dr. Saurabh gupta from max hospital and I would like to answer your query. It is due to nerve compression. You need to get an mri scan of the area done. Meanwhile you can follow these measures: - if the pain is severe, you need bed rest till the pain resolves. - get some analgesics prescribed and apply analgesic spray or ointments. - while resting, keep a pillow under your knees if it doesn't bother you. - avoid lifting heavy objects. - back strengthening exercises and stretching exercises daily as advised by a physiotherapist. - avoid exercises in times of pain. - improvise your posture while sitting. Your neck stiffness could be due to degenerative disc disease in cervical spine region, also it could be due to reasons in which cervical spinal canal can become narrowed besides other reasons as well. You should initiate: - an intensive physical therapy programme in which your neck muscles become strong gradually - you will have to take proper care of your neck especially while sleeping and working. - we can also initiate medications like gentle anti inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants so that your neck stiffness subsides.
