My body tone is not good. My face and hands are dark in colour due to sun tan. What should I do?
One of the most important ways to take care of your skin is to protect it from the sun. A healthy diet can help you look and feel your best. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. The association between diet and acne isn't clear but some research suggests that a diet rich in vitamin c and low in unhealthy fats and processed or refined carbohydrates might promote younger looking skin. I am a registered dietitian and a doctor who will help you in your skin problems do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.

Dear lybrate user, *avoid more salty, dry, maida related junk foods, more tea, coffee. *consume more fresh fruit juice. *practice yoga, meditation, breathing exercise. *cleansing shall be one of the most important steps of your skin care routine. Even if you are not having an acne problem washing the face twice a day helps in removing dirt, oil and dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. Less oil and dirt also means less acne. While washing your face never apply soap and always use a mild face cleanser. Also wash the face only with warm or cold water as using hot water can cause pimples *applying honey on the face works both as a preventive method and as a treatment for pimples. It is a natural antiseptic that soothes and heals the skin. The antioxidants present in honey can help in reducing the inflammation over the skin and making it pimple free. Apply some honey on your face for 15-30 minutes and then wash it off. Not only will it work against your acne problem but it also makes the skin smooth and supple.

Hi. There are four main factors which causes acne: Oil production Dead skin cells Clogged pores Bacteria Factors that may worsen the acne: Androgen hormones, certain medications (drugs containing corticosteroids, androgens or lithium can worsen acne), dietary factors, including dairy products and carbohydrate-rich foods — such as bread, bagels and chips — may trigger acne and Stress can make acne worse. Management: Wash your face with Bakson's Facewash (wash your face with warm water only) and followed by CTMP, i.e., cleansing, toning, moisturising and protection (apply liberally Sunscreen Gel with SPF-30) after washing your face daily. Home-made remedies: - Take 1 tbsp of fuller's earth (multani mitti) + a dash of lime + bit of rosewater – apply this on your face till it gets dried up, then rinse it off. - Take 1 tsp of Alum (or fitkari), make it slightly wet with water and apply this on your wet face, spread it well; let it dry and rinse it off. Alum remove your excessive moisture or oil and it also tightens the skin's tonicity. Medication: You can take homoeopathic medicines – Berberis Aquefolium Q/ 10 drops in 1/2 cup of water/ thrice a day (and for local application as well) and Kali Brom. 200/ thrice a day – for 20 days. Use Bakson's Apricot scrub at least once a week on your nose. Oily

Hello, Boils are farming on my body. Which medicine should I take and how can I remove their marks?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello,
Boils are farming on my body.
Which medicine should I take and how can I remove their marks?
Hello, Boils most often happen where there is hair and rubbing. The face, neck, armpits, breasts, groin, and buttocks are common sites. If you do have family history of diabetes, get your blood sugar (fasting & PP) tested as blood sugar can be the causative factor of recurrent boils. You can sometimes care for a boil at home. Do not squeeze, scratch, drain, or open the boil. Squeezing can push the infection deeper into the skin. Gently wash the area with soap and water twice a day. Dry it well. Put warm, wet cloths on the boil for 20 to 30 minutes, 3 or 4 times a day. Do this as soon as you notice a boil. The heat and moisture can help the boil to open and drain, but it may take 5 to 7 days. A warm compress or waterproof heating pad placed over a damp towel may also help. Keep using heat for 3 days after the boil opens. Put a bandage on it so the drainage does not spread. Change the bandage every day. If the boil is draining on its own, let it drain. Keep cleaning it twice a day with soap and water. To help keep the infection from spreading, do not share towels and washcloths with other people. Medication: Homoeopathic medicine can be taken for treating the tendency of recurrent boils (if the blood sugar has been ruled out) – Schwabe's Arnica 200 and Silicea 6x – take them thrice daily for 2 weeks. Apply Berberis ointment on the affected area (this ointment will remove the marks gradually). Revert me back there after.

Causes of Changes in Mole Color and Size

Causes of Changes in Mole Color and Size

A common mole is a form of growth on the surface of the skin. It occurs when the skin pigment cells or melanocytes grow in clusters. Moles are common in most adults and occur in places and areas, which are most exposed to the sun. Moles may be present from birth or may appear at a later stage. Moles develop until the age of forty.

Moles are generally round or oval in shape and their surface is smooth with distinct edges. They are dome shaped. Common moles are pink, tan or brown in color. People with dark skin complexion develop dark-colored moles.

Sometimes, moles may change in color and shape. This might be an indication of a skin cancer condition known as Melanoma.

Here are the indications that a mole is cancerous in nature:

  1. When the color of the mole changes
  2. When the mole becomes smaller or bigger in an uneven manner
  3. When the shape, texture or height of a mole changes
  4. When the skin around the mole turns dry and scaly
  5. When the mole starts itching
  6. When there is bleeding or oozing from the mole

Features of Melanoma:
Changes in the shape, size, color or feeling of an existing mole are an indication of Melanoma. The features of this condition can be observed by the changes that occur in the mole. The 'ABCDE' rule can be used to define the features:

  1. Asymmetry: This means that the shape of one half of the mole is not matching with the other half.
  2. Irregular border: The borders or edges are ragged, notched and the outline seems blurred. There are chances that the pigment might spread to the surrounding skin surface.
  3. Uneven color: This indicates that the mole may be of uneven colors. There might be shades of black, brown, tan and also areas of red, white, gray, pink or blue.
  4. Mole diameter: There is a change in the size and diameter of a mole in cases of Melanoma. Usually, the size increases. Some Melanoma moles may be tiny, but most are wider than six millimeters.
  5. Evolving: There is an evolution over weeks and months, where the changes in appearance occur. Moles that lead to Melanoma vary a lot. Some cases of Melanoma may have all the above mentioned features while other cases may indicate two or three of the features.

When moles change in color and size, it is because of Melanoma. Several tests have to be carried out to detect whether a mole is cancerous or not, and after that, medical measures must be taken. Melanoma is a serious form of skin cancer and should be attended to immediately.

7 Botox Myths - How True are They?

7 Botox Myths - How True are They?

Botox is no longer confined to the celebrities and the rich and famous, it has become quite common in indian households today.

It is a minimally invasive procedure and a number of myths are associated with it. If you are thinking of having botox treatment for yourself, then let us help you make an informed choice:

7 botox myths how true are they?

A number of misconception are involved with botox, just do not believe them unless you get information from a reliable source like a dermatologist who is actively involved in giving botox treatments.

Some of the common myths are as under:
1. Botox will freeze the face
A common hearsay is that botox will freeze your face. You will lose your natural facial expressions. Botox does not make your face entirely expressionless, botox helps in curbing your dynamic wrinkles and prevents them to become static.
2. Wrinkles are barred forever
Botox temporarily delays the wrinkles and smoothes your face. It removes facial lines for some time, obviously not forever. The effect of botox wanes away in 3 to 6 months. It gives you a wrinkle free face but temporarily.
3. Botox is for older women
Another common myth is that botox is for older women. But this is not true as botox offers tremendous help in cases of premature aging and wrinkle development. It helps you in maintaining your youth and at the same time gives you confidence. Everyone is aging but botox helps you to age gracefully.
4. Botox is dangerous
A general notion is that botox is dangerous. There is simply not true. Instead botox is quite useful in the treatment of debilitating medical ailments like headaches, back pain cerebral palsy, etc. You need to get the botrox treatment done from a trained and qualified dermatologist or cosmetologists to get the best out of the treatment.
5. Botox will make the face immovable
This is perhaps the commonest misconception about botox. It is true that botox restricts muscle movement to some extent but this is temporary and goes off in a couple of days. Your face is back to its normal movements and expressions. Frozen face is no longer common; provide you get the treatment form a qualified doctor.
6. Swelling, pain and bruising
You may experience pain and redness at the injection site. They are completely gone in 2-3 days. Botox gives you great phenomenal results and minimal discomfort.
7. Botox has a lot of side effects
It is general perception that a number of side effects are associated with botox injections. This is completely false. The common side-effects are fatigue, nausea or headache. Rest all is wrong.
