It is a fact that all the effects/pain in brain & spinal cord in your case on body are due to stress/ tension may be known to you or unknown related to family, professional, student, non achievements etc in any field of life. We know that when we are totally, really happy i.e internally and externally remain always happy there can't be any disease that is why the disease once starts not cured with medicine because the reason for the origin of stress remains there & stress goes on increasing & also changes effects in one form or the other. So there is need of mind management a type of counselling -(After a research on lacking facts why in spite of so much knowledge on mind disease & stress is theres) why tension/stress in your particular case has effects in the form of brain & spinal pains and how to get rid of it. So there is a need 2 to 3 hr discussion why these occur in this form & no reoccuence in future. One session of 30 min. Online. Also there is a need of sessions for effects on body effects with powerful techniques like craniosacral balancing n quantum touch which work both on physical and mental levels by balancing 3rd rhythm, autonomic nervous system, musculoskeletal system by releasing suppressed emotions &pains etc. Rest of the details about services for incurable diseases & for mind problems, super mind are also there on website / Lybrate profile/personal statement column.

Ways To Ensure Bone And Joint Health!

MBBS, MS - Orthopaedics
Orthopedist, Chennai
Ways To Ensure Bone And Joint Health!

Staying healthy involves a wholesome state of being where the mind and body are in perfect sync. A less than properly functioning body can leave you in a state of potential depression after a certain point of time, while a depressive mind can leave you feeling less than stellar where you end up imagining and experiencing pain. The health of your bones and joints is one such area that requires even more care as you start growing older. Wear and tear is just one of the reasons for degeneration while fractures and injuries can lead to a sudden halt of normal functioning of the bones and joints too.

So how can you ensure bone and joint health in the long run? Follow our tips!

  1. Eating Right: Pick calcium rich food like dairy products that have a low fat content, including milk and yogurt. Also, have a daily dose of green, leafy vegetables and plenty of citrus fruit and juices for your fill of calcium. Further, food like eggs and soybeans which have lots of vitamin D can also help in retaining good bone and joint health. Vitamin C rich fruit like watermelon, oranges, squash and tomatoes also help in natural tissue and cartilage repair. And finally, get plenty of vitamin K to retain good bone density for a prolonged period with ingredients like leafy green vegetables, eggs and cheese.
  2. Exercise: This is the key to good bone and joint health. Much like machinery and tools, the bones and joints of your body can also wither with disuse and prolonged inactivity. Make sure that you indulge in exercises like long walks and muscle strengthening exercises which will give your joints and bones good amount of strength as well. Remember to speak with your doctor before you start a new exercise regime so that you avoid anything that may be harmful in case you have any other ailment. Low impact exercises will strengthen the spine, while fat burning and weight loss exercises will ensure that there is less pressure on the knees and lumbar area. Swimming and resistance building exercises can also be practised for these purposes.
  3. Abstinence: A major factor in promoting better bone and joint health is abstinence from all those things that can create problems in the long run, like smoking, drinking excessively and even too much consumption of caffeine and fatty food. All these things can create depletion of the natural bone mass. Also, switching to a lower heel for everyday wear footwear and changing your position during your time at your workstation are a few things that will go a long way.

Take care of your bones and joints the right way today, for a healthier tomorrow. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Orthopedist.

Causes of Knee Pain and Ways to Deal With It

MBBS, MS - Orthopaedics, Fellow In Joint Replacement , Fellow In Arthroscopy
Orthopedist, Hyderabad
Causes of Knee Pain and Ways to Deal With It

The knee joint is made up of several elements including the knee cap, meniscus, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and muscles. Damage to any part of the knee can cause chronic pain.

What can cause knee pain:

Fractures: These are caused by the breaking up of the kneecap due to falls or collisions.

ACL Injuries: Caused due to the tearing of the anterior cruciate ligament (that connects the femur and the shinbone). Especially common in sportspersons such as footballers or basketball players.

Meniscus tears: The meniscus or the rubber-like cartilage (that acts as a shock absorber) can be torn by sudden jerks or excess pressure.

Arthritis: The chief cause of lingering knee pain, arthritis itself can be of a number of types.

  • Osteoarthritis, which is a result of deterioration of cartilages due to wear and tear
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis, an inflammatory chronic disorder
  • Septic Arthritis, causing pain, swelling and redness.
  • Gout caused due to the development of uric acid crystals in the joints

How to deal with it:

  • Exercise: Moderate to intense exercise is prescribed for one and all. This, of course, depends on one's overall health and age. If you are already suffering from joint pain, then you may want to go easy on the exercise with a focus on building muscle strength and foundation. If you are healthy, then some amount of daily exercise as a routine will keep those knees in prime working condition and well lubricated as well. Inactivity and a sedentary lifestyle can affect the knees very badly.
  • Dealing with Load: Losing weight is an important factor as carrying around extra pounds and kilograms can be detrimental for your knees in the long run. Your knee is not equipped to handle the excessive weight. It already supports three to five times your weight when you get up and walk around or indulge in some mild jogging. One must be careful of those extra pounds to take the load off the knee and keep it from falling prey to damage.
  • Do not Ignore: Warning signals such as chronic or acute knee pain should not be ignored. Remember to consult a doctor or an orthopaedic specialist to find out if you have contracted an infection or if you may have suffered a fracture due to an injury.

Ligament Injuries

The ligaments around the knee are strong. However, sometimes they can become injured. They may be stretched (sprained), or sometimes torn (ruptured). A ligament rupture can be partial (just some of the fibres that make up the ligament are torn) or complete (the ligament is torn through completely). The majority of knee ligament injuries are sprains and not tears and they tend to settle down quickly.

ACL injury and other ligament injuries can be caused by:

  • Twisting your knee with the foot planted
  • Getting hit on the knee
  • Extending the knee too far
  • Jumping and landing on a flexed knee
  • Stopping suddenly when running
  • Suddenly shifting weight from one leg to the other

These injuries are common in soccer players, football players, basketball players, skiers, gymnasts, and other athletes.

Treatment

  1. Rest the knee
  2. Ice your knee to reduce pain and swelling
  3. Compress your knee
  4. Elevate your knee on a pillow when you're sitting or lying down
  5. Wear a knee brace to stabilise the knee
  6. Practise stretching and strengthening exercises if they are recommended

For severe collateral ligament tears, you may need surgery to attach the ligament back to the bone if it was pulled away, or to the other part of the ligament if it was torn in the middle.

Meniscus Tear
A meniscus tear is a common knee injury. The meniscus is a rubbery, C-shaped disc that cushions your knee. Each knee has two menisci (plural of meniscus)-one at the outer edge of the knee and one at the inner edge. The menisci keep your knee steady by balancing your weight across the knee. A torn meniscus can prevent your knee from working right.

A meniscus tear is usually caused by twisting or turning quickly, often with the foot planted while the knee is bent. Meniscus tears can occur when you lift something heavy or play sports. As you get older, your meniscus gets worn. This can make it tear more easily.

Treatment may include:

  1. Rest, ice, wrapping the knee with an elastic bandage, and propping up the leg on pillows
  2. Physical therapy
  3. Surgery to repair the meniscus
  4. Surgery to remove part of the meniscus

There is very high pain in my back and in reports there is very high problem please help me.

There is very high pain in my back and in reports there is very high problem please help me.
General Back Pain: This is a general low back ache and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists you can stretch your body by twisting the waist on both sides how we used to do in the school drill similarly you can try which will help you relax as well will reduce the pain. It looks like you are anaemic. If you have back pain after you sit for long hours then it is due to your haemoglobin levels as it is important to check that. Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having back / leg pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain. Back pain / Sciatica: If you have low back pain and sciatica you can undergo intermittent pelvic traction where in your half of your body weight will be added in the electronic traction so that that would help you to reduce the pain, along with Interfrential therapy stimulations which would help you to get relieved from the radiating pain. Apply ice for the pain to get subsided immediately. If you cannot go immediately for the physiotherapy treatment. Ice can be kept in the low back where you have back pain. It is suggestible to wear Lumbo sacral belt which would help you to build the abdominal muscle tone which itself would make you feel better. You can also wear MCR chappals which would help you to have less weight falling in the painful back.

You need to do some exercises for your lower back on a regular basis and no matter what, you have to take out some time for the exercises. These will strengthen your lower back muscles, keep them flexible and prevent any further damage. But the exercises have to be specific for your condition so visit a physiotherapist personally to get the exact exercise prescription.
