As you are feeling weakness on right half of body with numbness, it may be related to some problem in brain or cervical spinal cord. You have to give information weather similar numbness in right side of face, if it is there you may need a brain scanning (mri brain) to rule out any serious problem.

I am suffering with migraine frequently. What are the measures to control it. Tell me sir why migraine is starting.

Migraine is a relapsing disorder. It aggravates with precipitating factors. Here are few suggestions to avoid relapses - 1) Avoid direct sun exposure for long time, watching TV/ movies in dark rooms 2) Avoid fasting 3) Have adequate sleep at night. Do not change your sleep patterns often 4) Avoid stress, anxiety, excess work load Anyways, if only the recommendations are not working and you still have frequent relapses- 1) Get a treatment for acute migraine attacks 2) Start Prophylaxis treatment for preventing future migraine attacks

PARKINSONISM

Parkinsonism or parkinsonian syndrome group is of disorders which manifests as tremor, disturbances in voluntary movement (rigidity, bradykinesia or akinesia) and impairement in the balance and automatic reactions.

This syndrome do occur in various conditions, of which Parkinson's disease is quite common.

Parkinson's disease was observed by james Parkinson in the year 1817. It took  about 100 years to be well verse with the pathology of this disease condition and the treatment was partially achieved by the introduction of Levo-dopa in the year 1960.

 

ETIOLOGY

A. Idiopathic: The etiology is not understood. Example of this type of parkinson's diease, where there is degeneration of neurons in the substantia nigra and corpus striatum. It occurs usually in late adult life, progress slowly, and kills the patient by 10-15 years after the onset.

B. Vascular: Multi-infarct disease(arthreosclerotic parkinsonism).

C. Infection: Infection by various viruses, most commonly influenza virus may be  causing parkinsonism like features. It is termed as encephalitis lethargica that causes focal insult to the brain matter.

D. Due to toxicity: Certain toxic chemicals like manganese, carbon disulfide, carbon monoxide, cyanide exposed in various occupation can cause diffuse damage to the brain exhibiting parkinsonian syndromes.

E. Various drugs: Phenothiazines, butyrophenones, tetrabenazine can cause Parkinsonism.

F. Multiple system degeneration that occurs in condition like Alzheimer disease shy-Drager syndrome, supranuclear opthalmoplegia, Wilson's disease, etc. can cause parkinsonism.

G. Metabolic: Abnormal calcium metabolism can cause disposition of calcium in the basal ganglia causing parkinsonism.

H. Traumatic: Multiple brain damage commonly encountered in boxers usually causes parkinsonism. This types of parkinsonism. This types of parkinsonism are called as punch boxers syndrome.

 

REDUCTION OF RIGIDITY IN PARKINSONISM

Rigidity has been found to reduce, to some extent, by generalized relaxation technique. Generalized relaxation can be obtained by vestibular stimulation that can be achieved by various rocking techniques. Rocking can be achieved by the use of adult vestibular ball, rocking or rotating chair, and cradle. Rhythmic initiation, which is a technique of PNF, can be used to reduce rigidity. This technique, which involves progression of exercise from passive to active assisted to active without any increase in tone, has been found to be very effective in reducing rigidity of the trunk.

Generalized relaxation techniques like Jacobson’s technique of progressive relaxation, yogasana, transdental meditation, biofeedback, savasana, etc. can also be used.

Insomnia is a sleep disorder characterised by difficulty in initiating or falling asleep or failure to maintain normal sleeping pattern.

- or difficulty in falling asleep or the person goes late to sleep and feels very tired after waking uo.
Types of insomia- insomnia can be primary or secondary
Primary insomnia- when the sleeplessness is not associated with any kind of health problem it is termed as primary insomnia.
Secondary insomnia- when sleeplessness is associated with some health related problem like depression, asthma, arthritis, cancers it is said to be secondary insomnia.
Insomnia can be acute which is short lasting, where the problem last for one night to few weeks. Or it may be chronic which may last for 3 nights a week for a month or longer.
Some sleep disorders are caused by physical problems, the treatment of which can make sleeplessness disappear. Some are caused by medications and can be resolved by a change of prescriprion. Still others are caused by poor sleep habbits, such as too much napping which can be broken with education and efforts.
Below are some helpful hints for getting a good night rests:-
1. Maintain a regular sleep schedule. Getting up at the same time every morning synchronises the body's biological clock.
2. Keep the bedroom for sleeping. Don not read, watch tv or eat in bed.
3. If you do not fall asleep within 20 mins of going to bed, get up and read or listen to quite music untill you get sleepy.
4. Limit daytime naps.
5. Take 20-30 minutes warm bath before bed.
6. Drink a glass of milk just before bed.(warm or cold)
7. Avoid caffeinated beverages and chocolate in the afternoon and evening.
8. Don't drink alcohol before bed time. It can cause sleeplessness at night.
9. Exercise during the day but not before going to bed.
10. According to Dr. Anna wriz - justice leader of the research team at psychiatric university clinic of chronobiology ans sleep laboratory, switzerland, keeping the hands and feet warm in cold bedroom induces sleep quickly.

Does ciplar 40 will prevent my right side migraine pain and attack or sibelium 10? Please tell me about migraine full please help me I am tired of this headache its about one year above now please help.

Preferably Sibelium 10 will be better for migraine but and sure to take at fix time with food. Its not advisable to take medicine for migrain Unless you have severe pain or can not be manage. Migraine usually develops gradually duee to Disturbed life style, prolonged stress, lack of proper sleep and rest etc. Every patient of migraine have some special trigger point which produce migraine like Excessive noise, light,sunlight, stress,fatigue, insufficient sleep and bieng empty stomach. So identifie what is responsible reason in your cause and take precaution to these. To treating migraine important management are life style modification and stress management. Do not remain empty stomach Take proper rest and sleep on time. Do some relaxation activities like pranayam, yoga etc. Take plenty of water and juices. My son is 10 years old on 05/03/2015. He was admit in hospital and the mri of brain shows mild subcortical white matter atrophy in bilateral occipital and parietal lobes seqelase to hypoxia insult at birth and the doctor give the medicine tegrtal 200 and take two time in the day. Please advise.

I think tab tegretal was started because your child had focal convulsions which has to be continued until the child is free from convulsions at least for a period of 2 years. It he has any other problem has to be taken care of.

I have postpartum insomnia. I gave vaginal birth on August. Baby is sleeping better during nights but I can't from the past one week. Why should I do.

It very common problem with new born mothers. Do not try to sleep. Let sleep come to you. So if sleep is not coming then keep urself busy with reading books or watchingtv or what ever you like. Body will sleep when it wants then. There are medicines also and also there you may suffering from common post partum depression which doctor can come to conclusion after more communication.

My nearest relative aged 68 yers old is suffering from paralytic attack & getting tretment from last 3 months but no improvement seen as expected. Would you suggest any remedy for fast improvement ?

Improvement depends on lesion in brain.All vitals should be in normal range. Physiotherapy is main treatment. What is the current muscle power. Slow relax passive movement , active assisted movent and active resisted movements and weight bearing on affected side these are some tips. Continue these you will get excellent results

I can understand how disturbing an interuppted, inappropriate or disturbed sleep can affect your day to day life. In india it has been found 55% of patients are suffering from insomnia just because of stress, distractions and anxiety. So the best way to get rid from insomnia is to reduce the stress level. A physiotherapist can help you to give you the ways to relax your mind and give you comfort and stress full sleep. You can continue taking ayurvedic medicines also. If required consult some neurologist/neuropyschiatric and start taking medicine if it is due to some neurological discorder. And consult nearby physio who can make a perfect routine and daily life styl chart to make you relax so that you get an appropriate sleep. Please follow some points that will help you in such condition along with medical treatment: 1) use of ice packs over your eyes or frontal area for some time to give relaxation. 2) massage your head especially forehead area using levander oil or clove oil as it removes toxins from body 3) regular intake of healthy dietry food rich in proteins and vitamins. 4) avoid fasting - eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at fixed timings 5) make yourself busy by fulfilling your hobby as it will give you freshness and your mind will be diverted from normal life which help in pain reduction. 6) before sleeping time do some relaxation exercises. - sit on chair with both the hands placed on the pillow placed over thighs. - deep inhale from your nose, mouth should be closed. - hold your breath for the count of 5. - exhale completely from mouth making a loud sound. Continue to do this exercise for 10 times. Before going to bed make a habit of doing this daily. Modified technique of same exercise is while inhaling extend your arms, hold for 5 count and then exhale making your arms back in the rest position. 7) room modification while sleep - make sure room should be dark with no noise. Avoid sleeping immediately after dinner or food. Take a walk for 15 min and then come back, bed should be not too soft not too hard. 8) it is recommended to drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water per day. It is also a very good habit to start and finish your day by drinking a good glass of purifying water. 9) exerices like aerobics (running) can be done to make your muscles active. Many other ways are there in order to maintain your life stress free and active so that you can continue to sleep on time and it does affect your life. For more help or instructions please consult. Hello lybrate-user, Parkinson's disease is a type of neuromovement disorder coz of less dopamine in body so it cause problems in movement of body. Persons starts having trouble in walking, stiffness of whole body, doing his daily activities, slow in all kinds of actions. It also associated with psychiatric complaints And your concern abt his bone pains, which can be unlikely due to Parkinson's disease. As you mentioned his age is 65 yr, he could be suffering from arthritis. Please do check his serum calcium. Vit. D levels. And do his xray of the bones he is having pains. And refer back.
