Diabetic Neuropathy - Treat it with Ayurvedic Remedies

Diabetes is a group of metabolic disorder in which the blood glucose level remains persistently high and requires lifelong medications, diet control and several other factors to maintain it in the normal level. Person having diabetes commonly end up with a serious complication called as ‘diabetic neuropathy’. It is also referred as peripheral neuropathy in which the peripheral nerves which are responsible for caring the impulse towards and away from the brain get affected. The symptoms may vary depending upon the type of nerve that gets affected but most commonly people may experience pain, numbness and tingling sensation over the arms and lower extremities.

The most important thing to be done in curing diabetic neuropathy is to maintain the blood sugar level to normal always with proper medication, diet and adequate physical exercises. Ayurveda uses few precious herbs to cure diabetic neuropathy, which are identified by our ancestors before many decades. Some of the herbs are: 

  1. Ashwagandha which is also referred as Indian Ginseng is the best herb which has many medicinal effects and mainly used for ailing the disorders of nervous system. This herb acts on the nerves and also improves the strength and physical stamina. It also used for relieving the pain over the calf muscles, loss of weight because of diabetes, neuropathy, stress, frequent urination and nerve exhaustions.
  2. Manjishtha is an herb used in Ayurveda as a treatment for several diabetic complications. It treats not diabetic neuropathy, but also cures diabetic nephropathy and retinopathy. It acts as a best remedy for several chronic infections and inflammations. It has been noted that it has a calming effect on the nervous system thus it can also be used for the treatment of epilepsy.

Ayurvedic treatment for diabetic neuropathy

  1. Abhyangam, in which the whole body is massaged gently with the medicated oil to improve the circulation of blood, causes nerve stimulation effect and also relieves stress. They concentrate mainly on the foot (Padabhyanga) which is commonly affected in neuropathy.
  2. Sirodhara deep relaxation and revitalisation of the central nervous system which is found to get affected in neuropathy.
  3. Ksheeradhoomam, it is a process done for the problems of nervous system and other neck problems by applying special type of medicated steaming.

There are 4 stages usually. Depending on the type if brain tumour. In initial stage complete surgical excision is good enough. No added treatment may he required.

Can't be considered without proper examination. If you don't have any problems with doing activities then that's not. HTN is a lifestyle disease start modifications of lifestyle along with salt restrictions and physical activity of an hour daily.

Hello lybrate-user thanks for your question in lybrate. The causes for backache are many eg: wrong sitting/ lying posture. Long standing/ sitting carrying heavy weights bending suddenly any physical injury long driving. Herniation in vertebral disc if it is long standing pain and many. Due to aggravation of vata dosha. Shivering may be cause of nervous. Try to avoid the cause, if any one of these. Always have erect posture while sitting and relax back muscle once in 40 mins. Tips to manage have light veg food on time, which improves digestion powder. Food rich in fibre to rule out constipation. Do minimal exercise acc to your capacity. Avoid vayu aggravating foods like potatoes, brinjal, channa, rajmah, peas, fermented items, spicy items. Rx myaxyl liniment ext application night before sleeping. Lumbatone 1 _ 0 _ 1 a/ f for 3 days. Sahacharadi taila massage regularly for 10 mins before bath for 40 days.

I got migraine headaches how can I manage with this I want a treatment any home remedy.?

Try to apply ice cubes covered with any cloth for some time, or take hot fomentation, vapourization. Try to find which one is giving better relief for your migraine. Press the neck muscles, & over the head, temple[sides]] of forehead] in circular, clockwise, & anti clock wise way. Doing this daily also will show effect in reducing the intensity & frequency of the attacks of ha. Take plenty of water[better to take minimum 1 litre of lukewarm water in morning with empty stomach is better for all purpose]. If you find any relation with any food or any stress related thing that causing you getting, then try to avoid that like sun exposure. Have good sleep. Practicing daily pranayama, breathing exercises also will help in best way. Take lemon & ginger mixed tea r warm water to get relief from this pain, for that time being.

Is Sleep Linked to Hypertension?

The link between sleep and hypertension is well-known. Studies have examined the effects of sleep deprivation on healthy volunteers and have examined the sleep patterns of people with hypertension, producing data that suggest adequate sleep may reduce risk. good cardiovascular health. Data from several studies show that people who sleep less than six hours each night are 20% more likely to develop high blood pressure.One night of inadequate sleep in patients with hypertension has been shown to result in elevated blood pressure throughout the next day.

Average sleep times have declined

Our modern society runs 24 hours a day, and many of us curtail sleep time to keep up. From an average sleep duration of 8 to 9 hours in 1960, our national sleep duration has dropped to 6.9 to 7 hours. Many people try to get by on five to six hours of sleep nightly, a habit that may be contributing to serious long-term health conditions.

What happens when you sleep?

Sleep is restorative, most people agree. We usually don’t question why, but the fact is that the circadian rhythms of sleep regulate our nervous system and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, two critical body systems that keep our bodies in healthy balance. During sleep, normal people should experience a drop in blood pressure of about 15 points, on average. This reduces the work of your heart.

The Autonomic Nervous System and “Fight or Flight” Response

Sleep regulates the autonomic nervous system, that part of the nervous system that modulates the “fight or flight response.” This evolutionary response causes changes in many bodily functions that at one time were useful to provide an edge against predators.A constant state of preparedness from inappropriate activation of this response results in harmful stress on the body.

When the sympathetic nervous system is stimulated, blood vessels are constricted to deliver blood to vital organs like the brain and heart, increasing blood pressure. The “fight or flight” response is also associated with changes in glucose metabolism and an increased risk of insulin-resistant diabetes.

Cortisol, Adrenaline, and the Hypothalamic-Pituitary Axis

The primary hormones regulated by the pituitary and hypothalamus during sleep are adrenaline and cortisol, released by the adrenal gland. Adrenaline is a potent hormone that has a direct effect on blood pressure, mediated by constriction of the arteries. When your adrenaline levels remain high during the night, it can result in sustained hypertension.

Cortisol is a “stress hormone” that is highest in the morning and reaches a nadir between midnight and four AM. Lack of sleep can result in significant disruption of the cycle, subjecting your body to unnecessary stress responses and fatigue that are as damaging to your health as poor diet or lack of exercise.

When you awaken in the morning, your body typically experiences a 50% rise in cortisol level as your body prepares for the stress of a new day. Studies show that waking up early in the morning increases the cortisol response, an effect that is pronounced in people who are facing chronic stress and worry. Cortisol levels usually decline throughout the day, but in people who suffer from sleep loss, cortisol levels increase in the early evening, preventing natural recovery from the day and preparation for a restful night. In addition to lowered immunity, impaired glucose tolerance, and increased craving for carbohydrates, sleep deprivation is associated with elevated estrogen levels, decreased alertness, and poor concentration.

Sleep and Thyroid Hormone

Sleep loss also increases the amount of thyroid hormone in people who are not getting enough rest. People with elevated thyroid hormone have both increased blood pressure and cardiac output, putting unneeded stress on the heart.

Sleep, Obesity, and Hypertension

Sleep deprivation increases appetite by disturbing the regulation of leptin and ghrelin, two hormones that modulate appetite. Sleep deprivation alters your body’s ability to regulate the need for calories, resulting in over-eating and obesity, also linked to increased risk of hypertension.

Caffeine and Hypertension

Many of us use caffeine to remain alert when we haven’t slept well, a habit that causes dramatic increases in blood pressure. The mechanism for elevation of blood pressure after drinking a caffeinated beverage is not completely understood. Some researchers think caffeine may stimulate the adrenal gland to release adrenaline, a hormone with direct effects on blood pressure. It may block hormones that keep the arteries relaxed.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea

People who have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) have multiple episodes during the night in which they stop and restart breathing. This disorder usually affects middle-age to older adults, but it can occur in patients of any age, particularly people who are overweight. People with OSA typically have high blood pressure, particularly on awakening, when their blood pressure should be at its lowest point. Symptoms of OSA include daytime sleepiness, loud snoring, morning headache, and difficulty concentrating during the day. They may be observed gasping suddenly during the night before returning to sleep.

Are You Getting Enough Sleep?

Sleep is critical for maintenance of your health. If you work shifts or curtail your sleep to accomplish multiple tasks, you are at risk for hypertension that can be difficult to treat. Measure your blood pressure in the morning. It should be at its lowest level and if it’s elevated, you should see your doctor in addition to consideration of lifestyle changes to prevent progression of medical problems associated with hypertension and sleeplessness. If you have symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea, there are effective treatments available.

It is very very less likely a brain cancer. But more detail about your headache is required. It appears most likely migraine headache. There is specific treatment for it, which can be taken under guidance of a neurologist so that the can be completely controlled. You also need some lifestyle modification.

I have been suffering from migraine from past three to four months and I want to be cured from this problem and I hope you have solution.

You have to follow some basic things so that you get better results in a short period of time.. 1) take solid diet two times in a day and liquid diet two times in a day 2) drink only 100-150 ml of lukewarm water during meals . 3) don’t drink water before meal for one hour and one hour after meal 4) avoid oily, spicy, junk, fermented and stale foods. 5) avoid late night sleeping habits 6) avoid coffee and tea. A) take 30ml of AUDUMBARAVLEHA and 10 ml of honey early in the morning on empty stomach and at night before sleep. B) take 30 ml of DAAAIMAVLEHA after meals along with 30 ml of water. You have borderline high bp, reduce salt but I am not suggesting a salt free food. Avoid tinned foods as salt is a preservative. Avoid other packed foods also like chips, namkeem, street foods. Use minimum oils for cooking. Eat lots of seasonal vegetables and fruits. Reduce stress by exercise and yoga and meditation. Take a tablet of safe betablocker like metoprolol 25 mg twice daily. Get back here with progress reports only after observations, after 2 weeks. Get back here with reports. You will get more guidance from any of us here on the forum.

take paracetamol (according to the age and weight of patient)to reduce fever. reduce fever further by sponging with tap water.fever will reduce so will seizures. diazepam is given to children with febrile seizures.please have it prescribed by your paediatrician.

Mujhe saans ki problm hai khaskar upstairs jane ke baad ya after walking. Aisa lagta jaise nose me kuch fassa hua balgam type and raat ko kharrate bhi kafi leti hun. Dakaar bhi kabhi nhi aata. Migraine ki kafi problm rehti. Week me 3 times attack aata migraine ka.
