It is very important for you to remove fried foods from your diet if you have any intentions of losing weight. • Make sure that you do not include fried chicken, fried meat, fried rice or any other fried snacks in your daily diet. • If you completely eliminate fried foods you can see remarkable changes in your weight in a month or two.

I am suffering from tonsillitis as well as uvulitis After taking 3 azithromycin 500mg for 3 successive days my tonsillitis got cured But uvulitis is yet there. My uvula is swollen enlarged and I have pain in swallowing. Currently I am taking combiflam. But uvulitis is still there. What to do?

D.N.B, D.L.O
ENT Specialist, Bangalore
Hello lybrate-user uvulitis will improve slowly if it's a viral attack. Tonsillitis improved as the bacterial infection responded to azithromycin. You can continue with combiflam. Along with that do warm water gargling. Do consult for other medications. Take care.

frequent/ continuous cough cold may be because of many reasons like: 1. Any ent problem like dns polyp sinusitis 2. Low immunity 3. Allergic condition so you need to consult ENT doctor for proper examination and further management.

I am suffering from dry cough from last 2 and half months and it mostly starts in evening till I sleep. I've tasted for TB as well but it is negative. I've consulted with my family physician several times but no effect and I've noticed I'm having gas problem as well from the days my cough has been started.

MBBS
General Physician, Fatehabad
Hi lybrate-user, we understand how frustating dry cough can be. Below are a few home remedies to get rid of that irritating dry cough: 1. Gargle - One of the most common remedies is to gargle with warm salt water. Salt water can help ease the discomfort cause by a cough. It will also help treat sore throat through osmosis. 2. Honey – An excellent alternative remedy to treat cough and can be used by both adults and children alike. However, children below 2 years of age shouldn't be given due to the risk of botulism. Honey has analgesic properties that eliminate the mucus and soothes your throat. Honey also has strong anti-oxidant and anti-microbial properties, which are effective for relieving sore throat. Honey can be taken by mixing it in warm milk or water. 3. Ginger – It is one of the best natural cures for a cough. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties and helps soothe irritation caused by sore throat. Cut fresh ginger into small pieces, crush it if you like. Add it to a cup of water and bring to a boil. Drink it once it's cooled. Try drinking this herbal solution for at least thrice a day for relief from non-stop coughing, sore throat and even congestion. 4. Turmeric - Turmeric has a therapeutic effect on coughs. Due to its high curcumin content, turmeric is quite effective in treating viral infections like cough and cold. 5. Garlic - Garlic can be on eof the best herbal cures for coughs. The active compound allicin in garlic has anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties. Allicin, which is responsible for the pungent odor of garlic, has a number of health benefits. It also boosts the immunity system. Put 2-3 cloves of garlic in a glass of water and boil it. Add a teaspoon of oregano to the mixture. Add some honey once cooled off and drink it. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Dear , congratulations on your quitting smoking. You could take lung function test to know the current condition of your lungs. To stop the urge to smoke, you could exercise, engage in physical activities, family outings, temples, fruit juices and tender coconut water etc. As a last resort you can use nicotine chewing gums or patches. Please post a private question to me with all the details. I am happy to help you with more tips. Take care.
