I am 26 year old gal. I am suffering from Ankolysing spondylitis for last 3 years now. I am currently taking homeopathy but the situation seems to be worsening more. Earlier the pain was only in the hip area but now it has extended in the legs as well. Using dexona 0.5 mg does help for sometime but there is no relief. While walking a fracture like feeling is there in the spine. Cannot stand for long. Even while travelling in trains if there is pressure on you there is extreme pain. Climbing stairs is painful. Sleeping is even worse. Even coughing and sneezing is problem. Able to use Indian toilet with a lot of difficulty. Pain increases during weekends with no extra activity. Please help. I want to get rid of this pain as it poses a lot of problem in my daily routine. Neither can walk nor jog nor do any other physical activity comfortably.

As you must be aware that with ankylpsing spon there is multiple joint involvement and especially spine. Also thoracic area involvement can cause tightness around chest and sometimes difficulty breathing. Consult a good orthopaedic physiotherapist for a comprehensive exs plan to stretch the tight muslces and loosen joints in spine, breathing exs and strengthening protocol. If you do the exercise daily it can improve your functional ability significantly. Good luck for fast recovery.

The food what and how you eat, makes the difference! for increasing your weight, concentrate on these points which helps in right way without harming your body if you don? t have any medical condition. - foods containing plant fats should be your first option - this includes items such as nuts, seeds, peanut butter, avocados and olive oil. Try drinking a large glass of orange juice in the mornings (along with your normal breakfast). Drink a glass or two of full-cream milk throughout the day. Protein shakes will help you to gain muscle mass, particularly if you're working out. -have 6 small and frequent meals in a day. - it's a good idea to continue to exercise while you attempt to gain weight the healthy way. Increase your calorie-intake simultaneously. -quit smoking. As it suppresses the appetite. -the most important thing through the entire weight gain process is to stay healthy - eating a balanced diet and continuing to exercise throughout. -take enough of rest and sleep for rejuvenation of the cells and tissues. -think positive which will help you in achieving your target of gaining weight. -avoid taking unnecessary stress/ tension. Medication: take schwabe? s alfaalfa tonic and five phos. Both thrice daily? an hour before meals for 1 month.

Take nutritional diet. Take more n more milk n milk products. Do regular exercises daily. Avoid spicy n fried food items. You may also go for whole body oil massage in the morning. Take peoper sleep n mental rest. For further suggestions n treatment you may consult me again.

You hav cup have a full balanced diet with carbohydrates proteins fats minerals vitamins etc and yo get all these in your daily intake eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits cereals pulses milk nuts and non veg etc if you eat that.

Dear, you can easily get fitness and health by following simple and very important tips: * take a diet rich with proteins carbs, vitamins and fats. In morning, take a glass of milk added with 2 teaspoons of protein powder with breakfast. In lunch time, take 1 bowl of curd or 100 gm of cheese, a bowl of vegetable, with chapattis. In evening, take 1 glass of milk (300 ml) with fruits. In night, take a bowl of careals (daal, a bowl of salad with chapattis. * in morning, get up early and take awalk for 10-15 minutes and exercise light weight exercises for at least 30 minutes at home or gym. * for proper fitness, proper sleep is very important. So you should sleep for 6-8 hours daily. * avoid soft drinks, western fast food (burgers, french fries, pizza etc. They disturb your digestion. * do meditation daily to calm down your stress level. Do pranayam daily. You can take long and deep breaths atleast for 10 minutes in calm and peaceful environment. * avoid smoking & alcohol drinking completly. * for boosting memory, take 1/2 teaspoon of ashwagandha powder daily once a day. Obesity is becoming a major health problem in India with people indulging too much in junk food, their unhealthy eating habits and sedantary lifestyle. Certain medical conditions are also responsible for excess weight gain. If neglected, it can obesity can lead to diabetes, high blood pressure and hypertension.

Following are ayurvedic tips for a healthier and systematic weight loss:

  1. Eat warm and cooked food in lunch: Your lunch should consist of warm and cooked food as they are easily digestible and provide the right amount of nutrients to your body. You can include a variety of cooked food in your lunch because the body metabolism gets adequate time to process it. Eating cold food has a reverse effect on your body as they lead to weight gain. Avoid a diet consisting of only carbohydrates and proteins as they do not nourish your body, but simply make you crave for food in between meals. Instead go for green vegetable and lean protein.
  2. Exercise: It goes without saying that exercise is a key to a healthy mind and body. Do away with sedentary lifestyle as that is one of the primary causes of weight gain. If you don't have time to workout, a walk daily will help. Exercise will not only help you lose the extra kilos, but will keep your energy up and increase your body's metabolism. It also improves bone and muscle health.
  3. Sleep: Ayurveda recognizes sleep or rest as one of the most important aspects of a healthy lifestyle. While good eating habits and exercise form one side of it, sleep or rest completes the triangle. One can also practice the Savasana or resting pose. And at least six to seven hours of sleep is a must as per Ayurveda.
  4. Meditation: This practice helps in focusing on awareness which can instil the desired function like weight management in the body. Being mindful of what your body needs can also help in eating and exercising right. Weight management is a lifelong process in Ayurveda.

Try to do more exercises like yoga, jogging and take a controlled diet in time. Avoid junk foods and cold drinks. Drink more water as it clears the systems. An egg with a glass of milk once daily. Take care.

My mom is above 55 age. Her left leg is getting bent by the knee, Doctor its due to calcium. I do not know for sure, because lots of people her age suffer some or other pain in the leg kind of problem, please advise of the exact condition. Thanks.

Bent in leg can be due to spongy bones and this can be due to Vitamin -D and calcium deficiency and there are number of reasons for deficient calcium absorption in body and a few reasons are------ 1.Diet deficient in calcium 2.No proper sunlight intake 3.No calcium supplements intake after Menopause and after menopause calcium levels start depleting from body at a faster rate due to hormonal changes and this is the time when a woman should take extra care of her diet and supplements . So start taking a proper calcium and Vitamin-D diet but before this please go for following blood tests empty stomach immediately--------CBC,ESR,THYROID PROFILE,CALCIUM,VITAMIN-D.

Hi lybrate-user to make healthy body you need to combine a balanced eating pattern with regular physical activity. You should be eating at least 6 small meals a day, rather than sticking to 3 square meals. You could divide it as 3 main meals and 3 snacks. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. Space out snacks during the day so you don't spoil your appetite. Bread, cereal, rice, whole wheat, dalia and pasta: biscuits, and corn-bread are good sources of carbohydrates. Fruits: dried fruits, fruit nectars, and large quantities of fresh fruits vegetables: include, potatoes, peas, corn in your diet. Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts: beef, pork, lamb, poultry, salmon, omelets, nuts, peanut butter, kidney beans, chickpeas will help you gain weight. Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese: milk, fruited yogurts, hard cheeses, ice cream, puddings, custards, milkshakes. -nuts and seeds make a healthy option for snacks. -roasted channas and peanuts are good -peanut butter on the sandwiches are a great mid-meal choice. -you must know that cereals actually contain some healthy calories. Stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water and other fluids like juices, milk, soups etc, will work in your favour. Do not drink water before a meal and in between the meal as it may make you lose your appetite, thus calorie intake suffers. Sleep: at least 8 hours of sound sleep is a must. Since your body is actually building up muscles, while you rest. Weight gainers have long term side effects.
