Why milk affects sinusitis patient? Is there some remedy for this or I gotta quit milk.

BHMS
Homeopath, Chennai
Hello Waking up with a headache, and on top of it a blocked nose is a rough start to the day. If this becomes a routine occurrence and even the face hurts with general heaviness in the head, it’s a medical condition called Sinusitis. Sinuses are air-filled cavities within the skull bone. These hollow spaces in the skull are situated in cheek bones, forehead, behind the bridge of the nose and between the eyes. Another set is situated in the upper region of the nose and behind the eyes. All the sinuses have the same lining that is present in the nose. This lining produces mucus, which is drained out of the sinuses through an opening in the nose. When a person has cold or allergy, swelling in the nose and sinuses can cause the drainage to get blocked. This results in the mucus being trapped in the sinuses, leading to the growth of bacteria and viruses. The inflammation of these sinuses is referred to as Sinusitis. The Homeopathic mode of treatment can completely cure Sinusitis, though it does take time. The Homeopathic remedies for sinus infections, are made of natural substances and have zero side effects, which rebuild the body’s immunity to Sinusitis. Symptoms of Sinusitis The symptoms of Sinusitis depend upon the sinus that gets affected. The symptoms include morning headache, blocked sensation in the nose, and heaviness and pain in the facial bones. Inflammation in the sinuses behind the bridge of the nose and in between the eyes can lead to swelling in the eyelids and the tissues around the eyes. Inflammation in the maxillary sinuses can result in pain in the upper jaw and teeth. Symptoms of severe sinus infection may be accompanied by nasal congestion, running nose, fever, tiredness and cough that may aggravate at night. Post-nasal dripping of mucus can cause problems in the throat too. Homoeopathy for sinus problems:- Homeopathic medicines can be of great help in the treatment of Sinusitis. The natural Homeopathic mode of treatment aims at rebuilding the body’s immunity to Sinusitis. The Homeopathic treatment for sinusitis can completely cure the chronicity and recurrence of Sinusitis, though it may take some time. I dont think milk has any adverse effects on sinus problems. Thanks Any queries pls ask

I suffer cough during cold from childhood. What to do? Please help me.

LCPS, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
General Physician,
Cough and cold is a common complaint almost everybody suffers from. But I presume you are having recurring complaints for along time. One reason could be low immunity. Another reason could be allergy. Both the conditions are treatable, but requires long treatment and certain changes in lifestyle. See a good family physician and you will recover easily. Alternatively consult me online.

Common Asthma Myths.

Asthma is a potentially dangerous disease, and according to WHO estimates, 235 million people around the world suffer from it. It is also the most common chronic health condition among children.

In the event of an asthma attack, the airways of the lungs become inflamed, and the condition is triggered by allergens such as mould, dust, pollen, and pet dander. The symptoms include frequent coughing, shortness of breath and wheezing, fatigue, and other changes in lung function. Anything that triggers allergies can also lead to asthma symptoms.

Because of the severity of this disease, it's important to get the facts right, so as to avoid mishaps and interference in proper treatment. On World Asthma Day, we set record straight on this condition, its causes, symptoms, and treatment.

Myth: People with asthma shouldn't exercise.
If the asthma is under control, there is absolutely no reason why people with the condition can't be physically active. It is important for both adults and children to stay active and healthy to prevent obesity. Obesity is an asthma trigger that can make symptoms worse.

Myth: Asthma can be cured.
Not true. Asthma is treatable, but despite great progress in the field of medicine, we still don't have a cure for this condition. Some people believe that alternative medicine such as homeopathy or Ayurveda have the potential to cure asthma, but this is simply not true. Only a timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment can help people with asthma lead normal, active lives.

Myth: Inhaled steroids are harmful and addictive.
A lot of people confuse inhaled steroids with anabolic steroids that are used in sports and fitness. Inhaled steroids are asthma preventer medications, and currently, these medications are the only way to keep severe asthma under control. They are effective and non-addictive.

Myth: Children outgrow asthma.
It is a misconception that children who have asthma outgrow it by the time they hit puberty. The disease does go into remission in some kids around puberty, but this is not because the asthma has been cured. Most often, the symptoms strike again, and sometimes the asthma returns when young adults start consuming alcohol.

Myth: Smoking does not affect asthma.
False! Smoking is a major asthma trigger, which is why people with asthma have an even stronger reason than most to quit this harmful habit. Second-hand smoking by a parent also triggers asthma symptoms or worsens them in kids. Many people with asthma find when they quit smoking they experience significantly fewer symptoms and less frequent asthma attacks.

Myth: Moving to a dry climate can cure asthma.
It's true that a change in environment may temporarily put off asthma symptoms, but it's not possible that this will cure the disease. Many people find that their symptoms reduce when they're at the countryside or the coast. Eventually, allergens will trigger the symptoms again.

To reduce asthma triggers at home, make sure your house is dust-free. Clean your fans and AC units often. Avoid carpeting and other furnishings that trap dust and mould. Keeps your windows closed during pollen season. If humid climate is a trigger for you, use a dehumidifier in your home.

Myth: It's normal to use your inhaler at least once a day.
Not true! If you are regularly your inhaler to treat asthma symptoms more than twice a week, then it is obvious that your condition is not under control. It's important that you see your doctor and talk about what's going on.

Hi. I understand your concerns. You will need to undergo a detailed examination and investigations like chest x ray to look for infection. If it's normal then you will need to undergo pulmonary function test which is needed for diagnosis and also to assess severity of bronchitis based on which treatemnt can be started. You might be having allergic rhinitis along with asthma. Consult a pulmonologist for the same. Hope your questions were answered. Thanks.

Do you have pain on cheek bones on pressing it? hot fomentation is really helpful in sinus besides drink fluids, such as water or juice. This will help dilute mucous secretions and promote drainage. Avoid beverages that contain caffeine or alcohol, as they can be dehydrating. Drinking alcohol can also worsen the swelling of the lining of the sinuses and nose. Moisturize your sinus cavities. Drape a towel over your head as you breathe in the vapor from a bowl of medium-hot water. Keep the vapor directed toward your face. Or take a hot shower, breathing in the warm, moist air. This will help ease pain and help mucus drain. Apply warm compresses to your face. Place warm, damp towels around your nose, cheeks and eyes to ease facial pain. Rinse out your nasal passages. Use a specially designed squeeze bottle (sinus rinse, others), saline canister or neti pot to rinse your nasal passages. This home remedy, called nasal lavage, can help clear your sinuses. If you make your own rinse, use water that's contaminant-free distilled, sterile, previously boiled and cooled, or filtered using a filter with an absolute pore size of 1 micron or smaller to make up the irrigation solution. Also be sure to rinse the irrigation device after each use with contaminant-free water, and leave open to air-dry. Sleep with your head elevated. This will help your sinuses drain, reducing congestion.

Nothing alarming. If you are smoking, then it is common in early mornings or you might have mild maxillary sinus congestion which drained out in lying down posture and you cough it out in the mornings.
