If a dog is kept outside in summers then how to protect from heatstroke. What food vegetarian to be given to dog and what extra care.

MVSc
Veterinarian,
You can give your dog water with ice cubes filled in it, and also cold milk for drinking during hot times of the day. U can give watermelon and cucumber too, but avoid certain fruits like tomato, grapes, raisins etc. As a vegetarian food, you can give curd rice, it also keep your dog cool and comfort.

I want urgent answer that if a dog is taken in a car with AC on and is not used to it as she stays outside only during summers without fan only in shade so will it harm her from moving across car to hot weather outside. please let me know very soon.

Veterinarian, Jalandhar
Dogs don't possess sweat glands. So they don't sweat. They loose their body heat by panting .you May take your dog in car with AC on but when you reach your destination make sure that You give some time to your dog to adapt to surrounding temperature. Don't let her move to high temperature area immediately coming out of AC.

Pl. Suggest is it true for a german shepherd breed that they should not sit on floor like tiles which can get them bad or deformed legs as such my dog just one month of age prefers to sit only on tiles,it never sits on dari or other mats.

True as they could not balance a slippery floor . because they have paws as there foot it needs rough surface to have a grip so please try to avoid the tile flooring as much as possible

Pus coming from ear is Otitis. You need to clean the ears thoroughly with hydrogen peroxide and ear cleaners. If it's severe, you need to take a course of antibiotics for a week or so. Ear drops need to be instilled three to four times daily.

It may be some trouble in his liver. Get a LFT test done. Now give a liver protectant like Hepamust syp 7.5 ml twice daily if it is 15 kg. Opt for a paid service.

Cherry Eye in Dogs

Cherry Eye in Dogs

Cherry eye is a disorder of the nictitating membrane (nm), also called the third eyelid, present in the eyes of dogs and cats. Cherry eye is most often seen in young dogs under the age of two. Common misnomers include adenitis, hyperplasia, adenoma of the gland of the third eyelid; however, cherry eye is not caused by hyperplasia, neoplasia, or primary inflammation. In many species, the third eyelid plays an essential role in vision by supplying oxygen and nutrients to the eye via tear production. Normally, the gland can evert without detachment. Cherry eye results from a defect in the retinaculum which is responsible for anchoring the gland to the periorbita. This defect causes the gland to prolapse and protrude from the eye as a red fleshy mass. Problems arise as sensitive tissue dries out and is subjected to external trauma. Exposure of the tissue often results in secondary inflammation, swelling, or infection. If left untreated, this condition can lead to keratoconjunctivitis sicca (kcs) and other complications.

Is it male or female and not able to pee could be due to obstruction of urinary tract or infection of urinary tract. Please show to vet, we might take help of x ray or ultrasound to find out the cause and suggest you best treatment.

Normally puppies don't like to drink water. It is better to give dahi rather than milk. You can give dry starter feed to them. When he eat dry feed then definitely drink water.
