Healthy Spices For Weight Loss!

Healthy Spices For Weight Loss!

Did you know that adding spices to your diet can help you lose weight? Well, now you do!  We have been using spices for years and years to enhance the taste of our food but were unknown to this magical thing that they could do. Turns out these spices not only make our food tasty but also help a great deal in losing weight. Plus, these are all readily available in our kitchens. The various spices that aid in weight loss are:

  1. Cinnamon

Cinnamon is useful in balancing our insulin levels. Cells respond to insulin more readily because of cinnamon, and hence this is how cinnamon aids in weight loss. Thus, our blood sugar levels get balanced too. Cinnamon can be sprinkled as a seasoning. It can be sprinkled over coffee, smoothies. Or this spice can also be used in cooking.

       2. Turmeric

Turmeric is a spice that is used in almost every Indian recipe. A component in turmeric called curcumin is what helps in weight loss. It decreases fat accumulationand bulk of fat tissue thus helping in weight loss.

       3. Ginger

Ginger is also a spice that is used in various Indian recipes. It is used to enhance the flavour of tea and also in other dishes. This spice helps speed your metabolism up and thus it plays an important role in weight management.

      4. Mustard

Mustard seeds help in boosting the metabolism rate. It means that calories get burned more effectively. Mustard seeds can be used for cooking or this mustard spice can also be had in the form of sauce. Mustard sauce is readily available and can be eaten with a varietyof dishes.

     5. Garlic

Garlic is yet another ingredient that is used in various dishes to enhance their taste. Garlic contains a component called allicin which helps to fight the bad cholesterol and regulate blood sugar levels.

     6. Cumin

Cumin is also very commonly used in Indian households. It is mostly used for tempering dishes. It can also be used in powdered form. Cumin is very useful in digestion and thus promotes healthy digestion.

Dear lybrate-user. Thanks for the question. To reduce cramping during and after sex, try emptying your bladder before and after sex. Still, says Stern, if you experience persistent cramping after intercourse, it's best to see your doctor to rule out any underlying health conditions like endometriosis, fibroids or a urinary tract infection. Take care.

Hi lybrate user, you can't detect pregnancy so early you need to wait till 12th if period is missed then get pregnancy test. This vomiting could be due to gastritis or some infection.

Dear Lybrate user, By this time range between actual gestation by dates and on ultrasound may vary to a range of 3 weeks. So, POG of 33 weeks with scan is likely to be in normal range. One has to take into consideration the gestation noted at first scan done in first trimester.

Hi. I used to get regular periods before I consulted a doctor for pregnancy plan. After my first consulting with doctor, I undergone scanning and found that I had hormonal imbalance and PCOD. Doctor told me to use medical tablet and contraceptive pills "CARPELA" from the 5th day after my period  for 21 days and she also told me that after 21 days on stopping these contraceptive I will immediately get periods again, now after using those tablet's I had only spotting (not bleeding) during my period. After that my doc suggested to use a bit high dosage contraceptive "OVRAL" Could you help me with my situation. Is it ok to use high dose contraceptive for second month also?   suggest me what to do next. Should I continue using "Ovral" Or should I do ultrasonic testing.

Since you have not a history of irregular periods on taking these medicines it is advisable not to use them. It will take some time for your body to get re-aligned and regularise the period. Follow a balanced diet and proper regimen. You may require medicines and some detoxification. But lets observe for a few months. Since you mentioned PCOD you will have to regulate your diet and avoid many things. Diet plays a vital role in PCOD.

5 Common Causes of Hip Pain in Women

MD, FIPP
Pain Management Specialist, Kolkata
5 Common Causes of Hip Pain in Women

Your hip plays a very crucial role in the proper functioning of your body. It bears the weight of the entire upper body and also supports your back to maintain balance. The hip joint is a ball and socket joint that connects the pelvic region to the thighs. Some sort of injury on the hip joint/bones or a disease can cause pain in the hips. Also, women are more likely to suffer pain in the hips than men.

Here are some common causative factors of hip pain in women:

1. Arthritis - One of the most common causes of hip pain in women is Arthritis. As women grow older, the risk of suffering from arthritis increases. The ball and socket joint of the hip gradually degenerates with age. This wear and tear of the joint causes swelling and stiffness which results in pain.

2. Obesity - Excessive body weight results in excessive pressure on the hip joint. Due to the development of excessive pressure on the joint, an obese/overweight woman may experience pain on the hip joint.

3. Osteoporosis - Mostly found in older women, osteoporosis is a condition in which the density of the bones reduces. As a result of which, the hip joint becomes weak and is unable to withstand the weight of the entire upper body and gives rise to extreme pain.

4. Bursitis - A sac-like structure cushioning the muscles and bones around the hip joints, filled with some sort of fluid is known as bursae. The inflammation of bursae is a condition called bursitis, which results in extreme pain in the hip joint.

5. Gynecological issues - Pregnancy leads to excessive pressure on the hip joint due to weight gain and growth of the lining of the uterus, resulting in pelvic tenderness. Both of these factors induce a feeling of pain in the hip joint in a pregnant woman.
