I feel tensed when things not happen in our way, particularly in night think lot about those things

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
A lot of things will not happen your way in life. This is normal. As you are getting upset about this, it could be that you have control issues. You see, we would all love to take matters into our hands and know for sure that it gets done, accordingly. But that would be too easy whereas life is difficult, actually. So it is in your best interest that all things do not happen as per your wish and that every situation must and will be a challenge, mostly. You need to learn to accept this fact of life and live with it. The way to achieve this is recommended by scott m. Peck in his book, the road less travelled: discipline. He says don? t try to change the fact of the difficulty but instead adopt discipline as a tool. He suggests four tools: cultivate the ability to delay gratification; be dedicated to the truth; accept responsibility; and develop flexibility and balance. These are very practical and effective. Why get tense when life is like this any way! instead, learn to cope with the above mentioned tools. If control is an issue for you, you are probably very scared and do not trust; therefore the need to control from fear. Deal with your fear and you will also be fine with letting things be. A counselor will certainly help you much in this pursuit.

For constipation and digestion Foods and drinks: Eat high-fiber foods such as raisins, raw vegetables, salads, bran cereals, whole-grain bread and fresh fruit. Eat prunes or figs. Eat oatmeal, applesauce, legumes (dried beans) and barley, to soften the stool. Flax meal can be purchased already ground. Or, you can buy the seeds and grind them yourself. Flax meal is a good source of natural fiber and health-promoting Omega-3 fatty acids. It can be stirred into or sprinkled on foods. Drink plenty of liquids—at least eight glasses a day. Water and herbal tea are best. Juices are not recommended, nor are caffeinated drinks, as your body can become dependent on these in the long run. Drink several cups of warm-to-hot liquid in the morning. Herbal teas or water work well. Exercise: Do daily exercise, like a brisk half-hour walk. Visit the toilet for 15 minutes in the morning, even if you are unable to have a bowel movement. This relaxes and stimulates your digestive system. The word depressed is a common everyday word. With true depression, you have a low mood and other symptoms each day for at least two weeks The common symptoms are (few might be present in a person with depression) Feelings of sadness, tearfulness, emptiness or hopelessness Angry outbursts, irritability or frustration, even over small matters Loss of interest or pleasure in most or all normal activities, such as sex, hobbies or sports Sleep disturbances, including insomnia or sleeping too much Tiredness and lack of energy, so even small tasks take extra effort Changes in appetite — often reduced appetite and weight loss, but increased cravings for food and weight gain in some people Anxiety, agitation or restlessness Slowed thinking, speaking or body movements Feelings of worthlessness or guilt, fixating on past failures or blaming yourself for things that aren't your responsibility Trouble thinking, concentrating, making decisions and remembering things Frequent or recurrent thoughts of death, suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts or suicide Unexplained physical problems, such as back pain or headaches consult a psychiatrist and get evaluated.

Examination anxiety is quite normal, happens with almost every second person. Do not think too much about it. During revision if it gets too much to handle, just try some deep breathing exercises. Take six to ten deep breaths for 10 minutes, then start your revision. You will not feel anxious. Good luck!

I am a last year college student. I was good at public speaking and I got a lot of prizes during my schooling and good at studying as well. But from my childhood I was an introvert. At +2 time I started reading myself and started changing my behaviour but still I couldn't achieve the same. Now I am not that much introvert as before but still my behavioural skills are bad. I always fails to keep my relationships alive and making or interacting with people in a new place. Also fails to talk to someone for a long time. I would like to change this attitude but couldn't do that. Please help me to become more social.

It is good that you understand yourself so well and are trying to gain insight into yourself and seek help. I feel half of your battles is won already. Try and analyse yourself every now and then, pracitice some communication skill programs, inculcate them in your daily life and see how far you can go from there. To become social you need to stop worrying and just start enjoying company of other people.

How Ayurveda Helps Improve Memory?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

How Ayurveda Helps Improve Memory?

If you're suffering from weak memory or memory loss, Ayurveda might be able to solve your problems. Ayurveda uses natural remedies to cure many diseases, and even though forgetting where you put your glasses or cell phones may not sound discrete enough, it may be early signs of dementia. Before it escalates to that level, here are 5 foods that you may try to curb it as the first signs appear.

  1. Walnuts and Almonds are the most effective food items to increase your brain power and cure amnesia. They are a rich source of Omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants that hike up your mental prowess. It is best to have them early in the morning, grinded and mixed with milk and sugar (or a healthier supplement being honey), or otherwise, after being soaked overnight in water.
  2. Ayurvedic herbs, like rosemary, brahmi, ashwagandha, shankhapushpi, licorice plant, etc., are all known to have medicinal properties that improve your brain power. Regulated incorporation of these herbs in your diet in requisite amount relaxes your mind, and thereby improves its functioning capacity.
  3. Indian Gooseberry or amla, is rich in Vitamin C, as well as antioxidants, which helps boost immunity, but other than that, amla is also known to have properties to strengthen your nervous system. It is one of the best remedies for managing Alzheimer's disease. It can be consumed raw or dried, and at times along with white sesame seeds.
  4. Fish oil is an excellent way to enhance your memory, especially if you are a non-vegetarian. It contains rich quantities of omega-3 fatty acids, which help rejuvenate your brain cells. But if you are a vegetarian or vegan, fish oil or even fishes like salmon, might not be best suited to your dietary preference, in which case it may be more helpful to consume Omega-3 supplements which are readily available in the market, or even fenugreek seeds.
  5. Cinnamon helps in revitalizing your mental health, when consumed, or even when smelled. Add a pinch of cinnamon to your food, or mix a teaspoon with honey, and it will work wonders for your mental health.
  6. Ghee. A good source of fat-soluble vitamins and essential fatty acids, ghee is recommended in ayurveda to enhance receptive power, cognitive power, intelligence, memory and higher mental faculties. Consuming 1 teaspoon of ghee everyday especially during young age, will support the intellectual functioning of the brain. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an ayurveda.

I keep on forgetting things, actually I am in class 12 so I need to memorize more. I am not able to make it please suggest a proper diet, medicine, reason for this.

BHMS

Hi, Take homoeopathic medicine for increasing memory - Anacardium 200/ once daily. Management: -Meditate for at least 15 to 30 minutes each day physically changes your brain, making you less anxious, and more rational and empathetic. -Besides increasing your physical strength and flexibility, yoga changes your brain. Research suggests that in addition to reducing stress, anxiety, and depression, yoga protects the brain from shrinking with age. -Exercise daily as it would can help offset the cognitive decline brought on by aging and increasingly sedentary lifestyles. -Get enough sleep. On average, adults need between 7.5 and 9 hours of sleep each night. When you aren’t getting enough sleep, it affects your brain’s ability to do this, and your memory suffers. -Spend time with people whose company you enjoy, and who make you feel like the best version of you. -laughter can improve short-term memory in older adults. -Cutting down on your use of technology (i. E. Sitting in front of your computer, phone, or tablet) for even 30 minutes can improve your brain health and help you think more deeply.

I am 26 years old and I am addicted to alcohol from 2-3 years and I tried a lot to quit but I failed. Please give me some type of solution.

BHMS
Homeopath,
Dear lybrate user, you may need a bit of willpower to stop your habit of drinking alcohol permanently. You could easily abstain yourself from alcohol during the initial 2-3 days. But after few days of abstaining from alcohol you will feel a strong craving to drink just one peg of alcohol whenever you face any tense situation. Here lies your real test. You cannot satisfy yourself with just only one peg. You will need a lot of willpower to resist that craving & face any tense situation without the help of alcohol. Moreover you may feel a slight shivering of your hands after abstaining from alcohol for more than 15 days. However, you can take homoeopathic mother tincture acid sulph q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. This medicine will help to reduce your craving for alcohol.

I am a 22 years old student and I can't concentrate on my studies. What should I do?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd

You are probably distracted die to some stress which you need to identify soon. Retaining information to be recalled at will is the role of memory. For which you need to do the following: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night?s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. Good social contacts are good for memory too: so make and keep good friends. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning at least five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly.
