What to do for whitening teeth besides brushing twice a day? Toothpaste?Or anything else?

Regular brushing, flossing and using mouthwash will help you maintain good oral hygiene. Apart from that go for scaling once in every 6 months.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, first of all you have to quit this habit of tobacco chewing. It can have serious effects on your life. The longer you chew tobacco, the more damage you do to your body. Take tabacum 200 ch, 5 drops once in a week. Take kali cyna. 30 ch, 3 drops once daily in the morning. Revert after 15 days. Take care.

Fully damage is little confusing term when used for tooth by a non medico person. You consult a dentist there and get one radiograph done. That will help the doctor to decide about the treatment plan.

you should have got RCT done before cap.. sometimes this problem subsides with time. if pain increases you will have to get RCT done for that tooth

Is 'RCT ' a permanent solutions for dental problem ? A deep hole on my upper teeth of both side I am feeling huge problem. Please advise me.

BDS, Basic Life Support (B.L.S)
Dentist, Pune
A rct is treatment of the nerve of the tooth. If your cavity is deep to cause infection the root canal treatment will solve your problem. But this is if there is enough tooth structure left to save. Sometimes due to decay the tooth may be completely broken in which case it is better to remove it and make a denture etc. As replacement.

The Proper Way to Brush Your Teeth !

The Proper Way to Brush Your Teeth !

Blog by Dr Ratnika Agarwal at Smile Up Dental Care & Implant Center ,Pune .We provide Dental & Cosmetic Treatments for all age groups.

Many of us were taught how to properly brush our teeth when we were still young kids.

And, admit it or not, most of us are stuck with the same brushing method into adulthood.

Sadly, many of us also learned the improper way of brushing.

Indeed, even though we are taught the proper brushing technique, we may not often stick to it.

Did you know that brushing properly is tricky? We wish to get rid of plaque without damaging our gums and brushing too hard.

So, what are the correct ways to brush our teeth by Dr Ratnika Agarwal ?

  • Brush lightly.

The teeth and gums must be brushed gently as hard brushing may cause the gums to recede and get damaged. It is advised to hold the toothbrush the same manner you hold a pen. By doing so, a lighter stroke is encouraged.

  • Brush your teeth at least two times per day.

Brush in the morning and at night before you head to bed. In so doing, food particles are removed. Brushing in the morning will aid clear away the plaque that accumulated overnight. It is important to dry before you sleep because this is the period when the mouth becomes dry and it becomes easier for bacteria to attack the teeth.

  • Use an extra-soft or soft-bristled toothbrush.

By means of using these types of toothbrush, the teeth and gums won’t be harmed and abraded. It matters to change your toothbrush when necessary or on a regular basis. Shredded or worn out toothbrush are no longer effective in cleaning the teeth. Be smart in choosing a toothbrush and only purchase the one that is officially approved by the American Dental Association.

  • Brush your teeth for at least two minutes.

Two minutes is actually the required time to clean the teeth. This way, each tooth is thoroughly cleaned. You may consider using a timer if you are using a manual toothbrush.

  • Do not brush your teeth more than 3 times per day.

Brushing twice daily is already enough. Take note that brushing too frequently can damage or erode the teeth and gums.

  • Electric toothbrushes are good alternative to manual toothbrushes.

These are often recommended to people who do not often follow correct brushing techniques. In the same way, these are great options for individuals with physical limitations and find brushing a tough activity.

  • Have a standard routine for brushing

It is fundamental to brush the teeth in the same order on a daily basis. The reason behind this is that this can especially aid you cover each area of the mouth. This will easily become second nature once you’re able to perform it routinely.

For instance, you may brush the outer sides of the teeth from left to right across the top, afterwards, you may shift to the inside and then brush from right to left. After this, consider brushing the chewing surfaces from left to right. Do the same pattern for the teeth underneath.

As you can see, there are proper ways of brushing. So, do not just brush your teeth for the sake of brushing alone. Learn the proper techniques to keep the gums and teeth clean and in good condition.

Hello Doctor. What are the easy and effective home remedies for cure of bad odour from mouth? Thanks.

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Hi lybrate-user! bad odour could be due to alot of reasons, oral infections or systemic (e. G. Respiratory, gastric) are just few reasons for it. I would advise you to rule out the oral/dental factors first. If you have a carious tooth or bleeding from your gums unfortunately no home remedies will help to solve the problem permanently. You could try chewing xylitol gums and using mouthwash for the meantime and keep your mouth hydrated by drinking water. Hope it helps you.

I have removed my wisdom tooth its completely healed now can't open my mouth if I'm opening forcefully its paining a lot what could be the reason.

BDS
Dentist, Ahmedabad
It's because of musle spasm. Don't try to open your mouth suddenly and fully. Try to open gradually and do it as many times as you can in a day. Keep bundles of wooden ice cream sticks between upper and lower teeth for 5-10 mins and gradually increase the number of sticks day by day. Do this exercise till desired mouth opening is achieved.

I am suffering from the dental problems since 2 weeks in my upper teeth there is swelling and when I use toothbrush. Some blood has been out.

G.C.E.H

My wife is suffering from high BP since last 10 years. Her bp pattern remains in range 170/90 for about one month. We have been monitoring regularly at home. She takes a pill LODOS 2.5. Also she has been taking garlic pills. However it never reduces below this level. She is quite reluctant to visit a doctor. Also she has lost 70%of her teeth still she does nt want to visit dental surgeon for treatment. Is this could be a reason for her high blood pressure. Please help.

BDS
Dentist,
Hii. The antihypertensive drugs can be the cause for the loss of teeth. Actually what happens is the antihypertensive drugs causes increase in the size of gingiva. Leading to difficulties in maintaining proper oral hygiene. That eventually leads to tooth loss.
