Chronic Renal Failure - How Homeopathic Treatment Is Best For You?

BHMS, MD - Homeopathy

Chronic Renal Failure - How Homeopathic Treatment Is Best For You?

The three primary functions of the kidney are- eliminating waste materials and toxins from the body, producing hormones that help control your body mechanism and regulating blood pressure. Chronic Renal Failure, also known as Chronic Kidney Disease, refers to the condition where your kidney gradually stops functioning properly over time- weeks, months or years. As the condition worsens, wastes and fluids start to build up in your system instead of being filtered out. This leads to an end-stage renal failure/disease.

What causes Chronic Renal Failure?
Chronic renal failure is caused due to a condition or disease that impairs kidney function. The most common causes are- diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2), polycystic kidney disease, glomerulonephritis, interstitial nephritis. Glomerulonephritis occurs when the filtering units of the kidney become, inflamed. Interstitial nephritis refers to an inflammation in the kidney tubules and its surrounding regions. Prolonged obstruction of the urinary tract due to kidney stones or enlarged prostate, also can cause chronic renal failure.

What are the symptoms that you must watch out for?
Symptoms and signs of chronic renal failure develop gradually over time. Therefore, most of the time people suffering from this condition are diagnosed at the later stage when functioning of the kidney is significantly impaired. Nevertheless, if you encounter signs such as unintentional weight loss, weakness and fatigue, vomiting and nausea, swelling of face and legs, cramps and muscle twitches, change in the urinating pattern, easy bruising, blood in the stools etc., then you should see a doctor and have yourself diagnosed. In case the fluids get accumulated in the lining of your heart or lungs, you may experience chest pain and shortness of breath.

Role of homeopathy in curing Chronic Renal Failure-
Unlike conventional treatment methods which focus on the pathological condition, homeopathy takes a holistic approach to treat the individual. Homeopathy remedies and medicines are natural, and try to rectify the underlying causes of this condition. The medications are selected and prescribed after thorough analysis of the patient’s medical history and health condition. A particular remedy is chosen keeping in mind the general symptoms of the condition. Among several homeopathic medicines, the frequently used ones are- Belladonna and a solution made from gold and sodium. Homeopathy remedies reduce swelling of the face, cures kidney inflammations, and reduce severe, recurring pain in the lumbar region. They work by stimulating your immune system so that the damaged kidney and other organs start functioning more correctly.

Homeopathy remedies do not provide substitutes for any organ of your body. They simply repair the damaged organs, improve your overall health and thereby prevent the person from suffering a relapse. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Difficulty In Swallowing Your Food - Can You Be Suffering From Achalasia?

MBBS, M.S. (Gold Medalist), MCh - Surgical Gastroenterology/G.I. Surgery

Difficulty In Swallowing Your Food - Can You Be Suffering From Achalasia?

The tube that carries food to your stomach from your throat is called the oesophagus. When the muscular valve (lower oesophagus sphincter) in the oesophagus fails to relax and carry the food to the stomach, the condition is termed as achalasia.

Achalasia has a variety of causes, and can be difficult for your doctor to diagnose the exact cause. Some common causes of achalasia include:
1. Hereditary predispositions
2. Autoimmune disorders (The immune system erroneously destroys healthy cells in the body)
3. Nerve degeneration in the oesophagus
There other medical conditions that often lead to symptoms identical to achalasia, such as oesophageal cancer and Chagas’ disease (an infectious disease caused by a parasite).

Other symptoms of achalasia include:

The most prominent symptom of achalasia is dysphagia, which is characterised by swallowing difficulties or sensations of food stuck in the oesophagus. Dysphagia often triggers coughing and shortness of breath or choking on food.
1. Discomfort or pain in the chest
2. Weight loss
3. Heartburn
4. Intense discomfort or pain after eating

Some of the treatments include:

Most of the methods to treat achalasia focus on the lower oesophageal sphincter (LES). The treatments used can either permanently alter the sphincter’s function, or reduce symptoms.
1. Oral medications such as calcium channel blockers or nitrates are prescribed, which can relax the LES to let food pass through with more ease. Your doctor may also treat the LES with Botox.
2. For a more permanent treatment, the sphincter can be dilated or altered. In dilation, a balloon is inserted into the oesophagus and it is inflated. This will stretch out your oesophagus to improve function.
3. To alter the oesophagus, oesophagomyotomy is performed. It is a kind of surgery where minimal incisions are made to gain access to the LES, and then it is carefully altered to improve flow of food to the stomach.

Unlike dilation, which can cause complications such as tears in the oesophagus, oesophagomyotomy has a greater success rate. However, certain complications may still arise, such as:
1. Acid reflux
2. Respiratory conditions that are caused by food entering your windpipe

Green Tea: Is it Good or Bad for Health?

Green tea is not always good; it has some side effects also. You shouldn't take it if you have any symptom listed below.

* it causes dryness in body resulting dry skin and agitated mind (in overdose)

* it hampers spermatogenesis resulting low semen count (so patients already suffering from low count should avoid)

* study also reveals that it hampers absorption of iron in blood.

* patients suffering from irregular heartbeats should not consume it ever.

* patients suffering from low calcium level or conditions like osteoporosis must avoid it.

* one more thing I would like to bring in your notice regarding this is as demand of green tea is increasing day by day many companies are just giving you some other resembling leaves on the name of green tea that may harm more.

I recommend to control your sugar level 1) a healthy and well balanced diet having regular meals. Divide your meals into 5 to 6 times. 2) one teaspoon of methi seeds soaked overnight in 100 ml of water is very effective in controlling diabetes 3) good fats such as omega-3 and monounsaturated fats (mufa) should be consumed as they are good for the body like olive oil 4) diet should be high in fiber. Let whole grain cereals & flour, salad vegetables, green leafy vegetables & fruits.
