All About Constipation in Children

Constipation in children is a common pediatric health issue mostly arising due to early toilet training and having an inadequate diet. Most cases of this condition do not last for long and can be easily treated.

Constipation in children is mainly caused by the following factors:

  • Lack of fiber content in their diet caused due to an aversion to veggies, often result in constipation in children.
  • Withholding stool: Your child may be holding his bowel movements in because of stress with toilet training. This maybe because he/she doesn't want to defecate in the school bathroom or in other places. Often if it hurts to poop once, the child might withhold his bowel movements and this leads to a vicious cycle.
  • Side effects of certain medications.
  • In rare cases, children facing abuse may develop constipation.

Symptoms

You will know your child has constipation if the following occurs:

  • Your child spends a lot of time while defecating
  • Your child complains of difficulty with bowel movement
  • Bloating and stomach pain
  • Soiling accidents

Treatments

A combination of the following approaches helps in treating constipation in children:

  • See to it that your child eats all his vegetables and fruits. Include more fibrous vegetables and fruits in the diet. Include food containing probiotics like yoghurt.
  • Use a stool softener: While using a stool softener the most common mistake is to apply too much or too little amount of the concoction. Carefully use the right amount of stool softener for relieving your child of constipation.
  • Ensure that your child has a lot of fluids in his/her diet. Fluids help to hydrate the body and lubricate the digestive system.
  • Look into the fact that you child has regular toilet hours.

Hello, you may be having headache because of stress/ refractory problems/ any ENT problem kindly follow advises given below: you can take: 1. Tablet Crocin (Paracetamol 500 mg) one tablet after food when required for headache after food for 2-3 days (maximum 2 tablets with gap of 12 hour can be taken in a day) 2. Adequate sleep 6-8 hr in a day 3. Get check eyes for refractive error 4. We need to go for ENT evaluation to rule out sinusitis 5. Get BP checked 6. Regular physical exercise and meditation and yoga complete history of your headache for further management like duration, severity, aggravating factors/relieving/ triggering/ associated factor to reach diagnosis consult physician for further management.

There is in ayurveda mention pinda swed. It is a type of swedan karma [phomentation] but it do some another manner. 1. Boiled a rice in milk then take this rice in one white cloth then tied it properly and warmly it rub on your face every morning for 15 days then stop it and do next month again 2. Apply almond oil on your face and massage for 3-5 min at night. By doing above thing you will get good result.

Sleep Wake Disorder - How It Can Be Treated?

Sleep Wake Disorder is a very uncommon syndrome which causes irregular sleeping patterns without any real schedule.

Causes
Persons with brain malfunctioning and those who do not have a regular routine during the day experience such disorders. People with changing work shifts often experience such disorder. Also, travellers who often move from one country to another with different time zones may also have these symptoms. There's no cure for this disorder, but treatments, including hormones, medicine, and light therapy, can help get you closer to a normal sleeping pattern.

Symptoms
Persons with such disorder experience sleeping or napping more than usual during the day, have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep at night and wake up often during the night.

Exams and Tests
A person must have at least three abnormal sleep-wake episodes during a 24 hour period to be diagnosed with this problem. The time between each such episode varies from 1 to 4 hours. The doctor may advise you to go ahead with a device called actigraph in case the diagnosis is unclear. The device looks like a wristwatch, and it can tell when a person is sleeping or awake.

Treatment
Though there is no simple cure for irregular sleep-wake syndrome, however, several therapies and lifestyle changes may help a person return to a normal sleep-wake cycle. These include:

  1. Hypnotherapy is the most important managing tool/therapy.
  2. Stress and its management through psychotherapy is one of the most important management tools.
  3. A regular daytime schedule of activities and mealtimes need to be fixed.
  4. You should not stay in bed during the day for long.
  5. Use bright light therapy in the morning like those from computer screens and television. The period of exposure should also be increased. Exposure to blue light should be minimized at night.
  6. You should take melatonin at bedtime. This is a hormone that controls the sleep-wake cycle. By taking doses at the right times, you might be able to shift your body clock earlier or later.
  7. Make sure to make the room dark, quiet, and as comfortable as possible at night.
  8. Also one should try to minimize the amount of noise in the sleep environment.
  9. Add more structure to the patient’s day by scheduling social interaction, exercise, and other activities.
  10. Your doctor may prescribe drug to control the timing of the sleep-wake cycle.
  11. Finally, you should take proper care of yourself. Make positive changes in your lifestyle. You can even ask your boss to make your work schedule a bit flexible.
  12. The ultimate goal of these lifestyle changes is to help the person sleep longer at night and make him feel active and awake during the day.
  13. Most people have sleep disturbances on occasion. But you need to see your doctor if such sleep disorders occur regularly.

To prevent pimples, eating fresh fruits, green vegetables, drinking plenty of water should be an essential part of your routine and intake of oily fried foods, an excess of sugar-salt should be avoided. To begin with- take fruit diet once in a week, which consist of fresh juice, fruits, coconut water and vegetable (green leafy). Warm water enema should be taken daily to clean the bowels and constipation. Take a balanced diet with an alkaline base, which consists of sprouted cereals, whole grain cereals and vegetables. Vitamin a, e and b can be used to treat acne. Green tea and walnuts help to keep your skin pimple free. Drinking 8-10 glasses of water every day is good for emission of toxin from the body. Always try to include low-fat dairy products in your meal. These are a good source of vitamin a. Some natural remedies to get rid of pimples:- apply hot fomentation to open up skin pores and then rinse skin with cold water. Sun and air baths by exposing the whole body to sun and air are highly beneficial. A hot epsom salt bath twice in a week will be highly beneficial in all cases of acne. Healing packs made of grated cucumber, oatmeal (cooked), carrot and lemon juice is effective for acne.
