We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning or surgical removal procedures for the mucosa above the tooth to prevent food stagnation or the tooth itself. Rinse frequently with mouth wash. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

I left spices and every tobacco habits and added healthy food and better routine. I want to know how much time will it take to become everything normal.

Quit habits strictly. Various treatment modalities for oral leukoplakia have been reported, but there is currently no consensus on the most appropriate treatment The treatment modalities include change of lifestyle factors such as tobacco and alcohol intake, Medication with retinoids or antimycotics, 13-cis-retenoic acid, carotenoids, Vitamin C, E, Natural agents (green tea) & Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents Surgical excision, Cryosurgery, Laser evaporation or laser excision.

Hi My teeth are in yellowish, what should I do.

First the reason for yellowish teeth has to be checked. Most commonly it's because of stains and tartar. You have to get teeth cleaned properly from the dentist. If the inherent color of your teeth is yellow even after the cleaning is done by the dentist. Then you may have to get your teeth bleaching to make them white.

You need to get your teeth evaluated which may require x-rays to be taken for the carious tooth in question. Also please mention your tooth position so for us to understand your tooth number in question. Good luck.

X-ray is necessary for assessing your tooth position. If it is present and where. Orthodontic treatment is the only way out to correct it.

Some spots on my tongue and more yellow layer in morning seen. What deficiency responsible for this symptoms?
It is candidiasis as you must be using curds and milk products and brushing your tongue never use tongue cleaner instead just clean with the brush only.

Cavity filled between my two front teeth is very distinct and looks bad hygienically. Recently few crack lines have also been observed in one of the tooth. What step should I take for that? I'm I facing any risk of losing them?

BDS, MDS Prosthodontics
Dentist, Mumbai
If filling is done badly then only such visible difference is seen. You can go for a newer more aesthetic composite filling or laminates or crown if very large cavity.

My teeth are very yellow what should I do?

BDS
Dentist,
My teeth are very yellow what should I do?
Hi treatment plan to make your teeth white goes as follows: visit the dentist, who will first do clean up of your teeth this will remove all the extrinsic stains and deposits present on the teeth & reveal the original colour of your teeth. After that if you want more brighter teeth you can undergo teeth whitening or bleaching treatment for further enhancement of shade. Your dentist will be best judge to decide whether home bleaching or in office bleaching will provide you with the desired results. You can try some commercially available whitening toothpastes after bleaching to maintain the effect for bit longer time. Whitening toothpastes can also be used without bleaching treatment for very minor yellowish discolouration but cannot give you satisfactory results in more complex situations

Im feeling sensation on my teeth when I take cold or hot drinks and sometimes at normal condition. What do I do?

Im feeling sensation on my teeth when I take cold or hot drinks and sometimes at normal condition. What do I do?
Hi sensitivity in tooth can be due to some reasons like enamel erosion because of bruxism, hard brushing and after the orthodontic treatment. Use a desensitising toothpaste like thermoseal ra. Rub on the teeth surface gently for 2-3 minutes and rinse. If you dont get relief after one month then you need to go to dentist. Doc will cover the exposed area with aesthetic restorative materials. Avoid taking too much cold and hot food.

Dental Implants & Dental Crowns - Immediate Post-operative Care

Dental Implants & Dental Crowns - Immediate Post-operative Care

When a tooth is lost, the dental implant or dental crown would be the closest replacement both in terms of chewing efficiency and facial appearance.

Unlike a denture, the implant replaces not just the crown structure but also the root portion. This ensures that the tooth is replaced as it was prior to the loss. When clinically done properly and cared for appropriately, the dental implant can last for decades.

Why Is a Dental Crown Needed?
A dental crown may be needed in the following situations:

  1. To protect a weak tooth (for instance, from decay) from breaking or to hold together parts of a cracked tooth
  2. To restore an already broken tooth or a tooth that has been severely worn down
  3. To cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isn't a lot of tooth left
  4. To hold a dental bridge in place
  5. To cover misshapened or severely discolored teeth
  6. To make a cosmetic modification

And, if you have gone for dental implants, keep the following in-check to maintain a good oral health after you the implant is done-

  • Until the effect of the anesthetic wears off, do not eat or limit to drinking something cold. Avoid anything hot or spicy for the first day.
  • Start using the mouthwash from the evening of surgery and continue through the entire week. It should be held in the surgical area for at least a minute, repeated 3 times daily, for the first week.
  • The other teeth should be brushed from the evening of the surgery. The surgical area should not be touched for the first 3 to 4 days. After that, depending on the pain tolerance, gently brush this area with a soft toothbrush.
  • Add a teaspoon of salt to a glass of warm water, keep it in the surgical site for a soothing effect. This can be repeated as many times as possible, after each meal or snack.
  • Follow a soft diet and do not let the food go into the surgical site area.
  • Do not disturb the surgical site with either tongue or finger.
  • Smoking should be completely avoided until the wound completely heals. The negative pressure created during can dislodge the clot and lead to delayed healing and even complications like dry socket.
  • Expect some swelling and/or bruising in the cheek and mouth area, which will increase for the first 2 to 3 days and then gradually subside. Swelling can be managed with ice packs or a cold towel that is applied for 10 minutes with half-hour breaks. From day 2 onwards, gentle heat can be used.
  • Similarly, expect pain for the first couple of days which can be controlled with pain-killers. Take the first pain-killer before the anesthetic effect wears off.
  • Continued pain and swelling after the first 4 to 5 days should prompt a visit to the dentist, as it might be an indication of underlying dental infection.
  • If you have dentures over the surgical implant site, try using them to the least extent possible for the first week.
  • Complete the entire antibiotics course after the surgery.

Appropriate post-operative care goes a long way in ensure the implant gets absorbed and lasts a lifetime. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

How to stop Pieria of mouth I am suffering since last two years please send me a solution.

How to stop Pieria of mouth I am suffering since last two years please send me a solution.
- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - have your dentures aligned as needed. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser.

Rinsing with water after every meal is very important for maintaining a good oral health. .
Snacking and intake of carbonated drinks and packed fruit juices have high acid content.... if you cannot stay away from them
Then brush after every meal..

Hi doctor, I am having a black mark under my teeth I don't have any habit of using tobacco or any other. But still there is a black or brown stains in my teeth. I tried changing the brush and tooth paste but nothing worked out so please help me to rectify this problem. Thank you!

BDS, PG diploma In Smile Designing and Esthectics

The black marks may b due two reasons largely. Either due to prolonged use of chlorhexidine mouthwashes or bacterial stains which is due to inherent colour of residual bacteria in ur mouth. Stop mouthwash if u r using ny or get scaling and polishing done to get rid of the stains

Hello mam, you are aware of your problem, we would suggest you visit a dentist to start with your orthodontic treatment as it becomes more difficult to get good and faster results with age. The duration and cost of treatment is variable as there is a wide variety of materials available.
