A cup of tea a day, keeps the dentist away! A single cup of tea contains high amounts of flouride and flavonoids which prevent harmful bacteria from sticking to the teeth thereby keeping the teeth and gums healthy.

I want to use a betadine mouthwash as suggested by the doctor's from this app only due to bad smell in my mouth or blood may be seen sometimes while brushing the teeth I don't want to go for scaling or polishing at this time. But I somewhere read that it is harmful for using it regularly or it cannot be used after 15 20 days as the doctor's suggested. So is it okay to use it or not?

You can use listerine mouth wash for time being but it will not help much until the actual cause must be diagnosed and treated.in youe case it is scaling. Chlorhexidine or betadine mouthwash can stain your teeh after 15 days use so I suggest use listerine till you get the scaling done.

Hi. My mouth is getting smell very badly. How can I cure it. Am having khane habit too. [hans]
Dear, Main causes of bad breath include: Tobacco: tobacco products cause their own types of mouth odor. Additionally, they increase the chances of gum disease which can also cause bad breath Food: the breakdown of food particles stuck in the teeth can cause odors. Some foods such as onions and garlic can also cause bad breath. Dry mouth: saliva naturally cleans the mouth. If the mouth is naturally dry (for instance, in the morning) or is dry due to a specific disease (such as xerostomia ), odors can build up Dental hygiene: brushing and flossing ensure the removal of small particles of food that can build up and slowly break down, producing odor. Crash diets / Fasting : fasting and low-carbohydrate eating programs can produce halitosis. Drugs/Medicines : certain medications can reduce saliva and, therefore, increase odors. Other drugs can produce odors as they breakdown and release chemicals in the breath. Mouth, nose and throat conditions: sometimes small, bacteria covered stones can form on the tonsils at the back of the throat and produce odor. Diseases: some cancers, liver failure and other metabolic diseases can cause halitosis due to specific mixes of chemicals that they produce. Lifestyle and home remedies for bad breath include: Brush teeth: brush at least twice a day, but preferably after each meal Floss: flossing reduces the build-up of food particles and plaque from between the teeth - brushing only cleans around 60% of the surface of the tooth Clean dentures: anything that goes into your mouth - dentures, bridge, mouth guard - should be cleaned as recommended on a daily basis. Brush tongue: bacteria, food and dead cells commonly build up on the tongue, especially in smokers so brushing the tongue is beneficial for that. Avoid dry mouth: drink plenty of water. Avoid alcohol and tobacco, both of which dehydrate the mouth. Chewing gum or sucking a sweet (preferably sugar-free) can help stimulate the production of saliva. Diet: avoid onions, garlic and spicy food. Sugary foods are also linked to bad breath. Reduce coffee and alcohol consumption. If all above don't work then it's recommended to go for a good dentist. Let me know if I can help you in any possible way. HAVE A GREAT AND HEALTHY LIFE AHEAD :) Regards, Dr. Shalini Tolani.

Fact about teeth.

I have crypts on my tonsils where stones keep forming and it smells really bad. Due to which my tongue is always white, especially on the very back of tongue which also smells. Occasionally I get food sticked between teeth, though I floss, I am still having bad smell in mouth. Anyone pls help me with my condition.

Hello, bad breath could be because of deposits on your teeth or food lodged in your teeth. Visit a dentist get your scaling and polishing done. Brush twice daily, maintain proper brushing technique, floss regularly and rinse after every meal. Drink lots of water. For your tonsils problem you can consult to an ENT surgeon.

Take homoeopathic medicine Merc Sol 30 1-2 doses at the interval of 1 hour. See if it helps. Ideally it is more productive if the medicine is prescribed considering the detailed case study.

Go to a dentist for thorough check up and x ray. By this we can plan for your treatment. Mostly you have to go for scaling and polishing first. If required you can go ahead with periodontal therapy

As you have mentioned. You are having a habbit of tobacco chewing. Visit a dentist. Dentist will tell you in detail regarding the mouth opening. Basically this condition called as a Oral submucous fibrosis (fibrosis in oral mucosa leading to reduced mouth opening. It is a precancerous condition. Fist of all you should avoid tobacco chewing immediately. There are some medicine like injections and some mouth opening exercise with mouth opening instrument that will help you open the mouth.

Dentist,
I am consult about my teeth? I have so much pain in my teeth n blooding also? What can I do?
Tooth pain is due to cavity formation and if the bleeds then may be its pulp is exposed and heavily swollen. But if your gum is bleeding then it is due to gingivitis. Go to your local dentist's office asap.
