I brush twice in one day but I still have bad breath how can I reduce it? What is the reason behind this?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Deposits on teeth, improper brushing, lack of flossing and tongue cleaning. First of all get cleaning done by a dentist, ask him about all other above mentioned instructions.

My gums are bleeding very nuch everyday without doing any thing because of that my mouth getting bad smell give me any description.

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
There are so many causes of bleeding gums - - brushing too hard - poor oral hygiene. - vitamin deficiency - taking blood thinners or other medications - bleeding or clotting disorders - mouth sores - other medical problems, including diabetes, heart disease, leukemia or scurvy few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums.

I have a decayed third molar should I restore it with amalgam filling or have to under go extraction.

BDS
Dentist, Lucknow
Only an x ray can decide whether you need to go for filling or extraction. If u want yo go for filling then choose tooth colored filling as amalgam leads to secondary caries. And it's too d acted then opt for extraction

Pain will be there for few days, follow doctor instructions and medications strictly, have some patience, if pain or swelling worsens then you need to visit your doctor for a follow up appointment, other wise nothing to worry.

Hey I am ujjwal and I am 20 years old, and having problem with my my teeth's. Firstly whenever I try open any hard thing like cold drinks bottle cap from my mouth, I am facing that my teeth is shattering. Secondly, recently I have scaling and filling in my mouth, even after that I am having bad breath in mouth, got start pain every time after eating anything. What should I do now?

MDS Prosthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Mohali
Teeth should not be used for opening cold drink caps kind of things, its not the function of teeth, such habits put undue pressure on teeth these are not good habits. Use opener from now onwards. And for bad breath as you have already undergone scaling and polishing follow proper brushing techniqe and healthy oral hygiene practice. Visit your nearest dentist for demo of proper brushing technique and other oral hygiene habits. Even then if problem persists make sure you are not suffering from any other underlying disease since few underlying disease can also cause bad breath.

I am facing yellow colour my teeth. Every day and night I am brushing. Do not know what is the reason behind my teeth colour. Can you please help me.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply snowdent paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min. Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

While sleeping I have noticed that saliva is coming out from my mouth. Tell me the reason why it happens and also tell me the ways to cure it?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Although excessive saliva is not too common, there are a number of conditions that can cause it - some harmless, others more serious. It is possible that your saliva problems are just a result of the way you speak. Some people speak faster or slower than others, just as some people blink more often, breathe faster, or have a more rapid heartbeat. This may just be what's normal for you. Since it is negatively affecting your life, I suggest your problem can be ignored. However there are medical conditions that causes excessive salivation injection glycopyrrolate reduces secretions in the mouth, throat, airway, and stomach.

I have alot of mouth ulcer for at least 7 to 8 month in a year many doctor has fail to explain reason is their any cure. Basic medicine like bicomplex n all I have taken a lot.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Nutritional deficiency, excessive stress & debilitating disease can cause ulcer. Exercise regularly. Eat lot of fruits & green leafy vegetables & drink plenty of water. You may need Coronoplasty (smoothen teeth edges) along with Multivitamin cap, for five days in the morning after meals & antiseptic ointment or gel on the area of ulcer until then. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals.

My upper tooth have gaps. And I am looking bad when ever I smile. Are there any kind of clips available? What to do? Thanks.

Dentist, Udaipur
Hii lybrate-user. For gaps between your upper teeth. You can either go for braces (orthodontic treatment) or you can go for laminates or veneers (cosmetic filling). For braces visit an orthodontist. For laminates/veneers visit a cosmetic dentist.

The toothbrush cannot reach the spaces between the teeth the gumline. So, for the removal of plaque and tiny food particles from these spaces, proper flossing on a daily basis is necessary.

I am told that I am having leukoplakia under the right hand side of my tongue and for the last 2 years 6 months and ulcer is observed near the white patch which has increased a little. I am a smoker. So I like to know that is it cancer and will it be cured automatically if I can quit smoking?

MDS, BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
A biopsy report is required to confirm the diagnosis. Leukoplakia is a precancerous condition. It won't be cured just by quitting. You will require medication to treat it. And surgery to remove it. It's better to quit smoking as it has a direct effect on the healing. You continue with smoking you will get cancer or your present case will worsen.
