Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Your knee pain could be due to certain reasons but common ones are chondromalacia, pain due to knee instability, inflammation etc. You have also mentioned a grade 2 tear, is it a meniscus tear or a ligament tear that you are talking about? if there is no history of any injury, and no s/s of inflammation or infection like swelling, skin redness or local warmth on touching, then I will like to advise you for conservative management initially in form of: - intensive physical therapy with focus on strengthening of quadriceps and stretching of other group of muscles - gentle anti inflammatory medications like tab etoshine or tab paracetamol can be taken in small doses for 5-7 days - adequate calcium and vitamin d supplementation as per requirement - ice packs at home for 3-4 times in a day and see how it goes for around 2 weeks time. Also kindly let me know about any instability which you may feel in your knee region and can you kindly send me mri report as well. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

Dear, Very Good Evening! Thanks for writing in regards to your problem with good description of your symptoms. Much appreciate it as it helps to make our responses more specific as well. All the symptoms you have mentioned make me suggest of few areas that me need possible addressing after a thorough clinical assessment has been carried out. However, there may be possible two things which may be going on simultaneously or either one of them which may be resulting in the symptoms you are experiencing. These 2 things i suspect may be: 1) Capsular tightness post-arthroscopy 2) Tight Hamstrings Most of the times, arthroscopic procedures for lateral mensical tears are successful (varying on how complex it was & if any pre-existing wear & tear changes present or not). A good rehabilitation of minimum 3 months is must to facilitate the recovery and aid you to return to sport. So Manish, take this opportunity and momento to get a further detailed assessment specially with a Physiotherapist with Sports experience. Depending on where you are based, I may be able to provide you with reference for the same if I have anyone within my contacts. I have seen many similar post menisectomy clients with a good outcome following a specially designed exercise and treatment program. So, I am looking for a good recovery in your possible given scenario. I take this opportunity to wish you good health and a return to football this year. Best Wishes

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. If you have have localized neck pain with no other symptoms like radiating upper limb pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc and with no other associated constitutional symptoms like evening rise in temperature, loss of weight, excessive sweating at night etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your neck while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. We will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of neck and few blood tests for evaluation. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

My lower back muscle is paining because of heavy lift and you can its stiffness so if I will do stretching for it so is it ok for this please ans.

BPT, MPT - Orthopedic Physiotherapy
Physiotherapist, Sangrur
In painful condition of back don't try to self stretch your muscles. It can be harmful for your back, as you told due to heavy lifting this problem arises so muscles are already in spasm or back strain. Heavy weight lifting with incorrect position of spine puts lots of pressure on back, muscles unable to cope with this increased load and protect themselves from major injury, they got tight or stiff. Firstly you relax your back and pain relief by taking physiotherapy treatment for one week after that back stretching exercises with advice of qualified physio.

This might be due to lack of blood circulation in the hands and we suggest to do contrast bath therapy ie. Immersing in cold/hot water in the interval of 3-5 minutes which will help you reduce the pain.

Angina Care

M.B.B.S. , PG Diploma In Clinical Cardiology
Cardiologist, Delhi
Angina Care

Angina is a term used for chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart muscle. Angina is a symptom of coronary artery disease. Angina is typically described as squeezing, pressure, heaviness, tightness or pain in your chest.

Symptoms associated with angina include:

    Chest pain or discomfort
Pain in your arms, neck, jaw, shoulder or back accompanying chest pain
    Nausea
    Fatigue
    Shortness of breath
    Sweating
    Dizziness

The chest pain and discomfort common with angina may be described as pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain in the center of your chest. Some people with angina symptoms describe angina as feeling like a vise is squeezing their chest or feeling like a heavy weight has been placed on their chest. For others, it may feel like indigestion.

The severity, duration and type of angina can vary. It's important to recognize if you have new or changing chest discomfort. New or different symptoms may signal a more dangerous form of angina (unstable angina) or a heart attack.

Stable angina is the most common form of angina, and it typically occurs with exertion and goes away with rest. If chest discomfort is a new symptom for you, it's important to see your doctor to find out what's causing your chest pain and to get proper treatment. If your stable angina gets worse or changes, seek medical attention immediately.

Characteristics of stable angina

Develops when your heart works harder, such as when you exercise or climb stairs
Can usually be predicted and the pain is usually similar to previous types of chest pain you've had
Lasts a short time, perhaps five minutes or less
Disappears sooner if you rest or use your angina medication

Characteristics of unstable angina

    Occurs even at rest
Is a change in your usual pattern of angina
    Is unexpected
Is usually more severe and lasts longer than stable angina, maybe as long as 30 minutes
May not disappear with rest or use of angina medication
    Might signal a heart attack
    Thanks

In my back there is pain. Because mostly I spend my time sitting. How can I could be ok.

Masters in Physiotherapy
Physiotherapist, Delhi
Lybrate-user, back pain is very common in people who have a prolonged sitting job. Take care of yoir sitting posture. Use a back rest to support your back. Sit straight with placing pillows on the back of the chair. Use a chair that has a back support till the neck. Take frequent breaks to do some back stretching. Before going to bed apply some pain reliving gel/ oil followed by a hot pack to feel a little better for the next day.
