I am 18 year old male. 90 kgs and 5.9 ft. Mildly overweight. About 2 hours ago I noticed a blue tint on the white part of my eye. Very light. But its there. When I looked online I noticed that brittle bone, hearing deficiency, difficulty swallowing are symptoms of a disease. And there were lots of diseases. I do have hearing deficiency. I feel a slight pressure constantly in my ears and I do sometimes have difficulty swallowing. If I get anxious. And nervous. This is common for me. I also have -ve vision in both my eyes. What could me the cause?

Do not get anxious and nervous. As all headaches can not be because of brain cancer, similarly just a blue tint does not mean you have brittle bone disorder. Just visit eye specialist who would check your vision, blue tint and retina checkup and will be able to tell you exact reason. Pls do not panic.

Future of screening of diseases specially glaucomas & diabetic retinopathy rest on successful and efficient use of Telemedicine in ophthalmology.

A fundamental aspect of eye care and the long-term prevention of vision loss for patients with diabetes mellitus involves the identification of specific retinal pathologies and the subsequent determination of the severity of diabetic retinopathy. Traditionally, this has been accomplished through individualized assessments by experienced eye care professionals, preferably following pupillary dilation. However, given that it is estimated that there will be more than half a billion persons with diabetes by 2030, necessitating nearly 2000 eye examinations per minute just to evaluate those in need once every year, this approach to retinal evaluation is unlikely to be sustainable by health care systems globally. Furthermore, despite multiple national and international initiatives to increase access and promote awareness regarding the need for eye examinations for all persons with diabetes, only approximately 18% to 60% of persons undergo examinations that attain the recommended ocular examination guidelines.

I am suffering from eye itching n having pain. To get from relief dis? I want an advice:)
Hello. From the symptoms described by you, it seems to be due to eye allergy. Let me describe regarding eye allergy in brief. EYE ALLERGIES TRIGGERS: You can be allergic to: •Pollen from grasses, weeds, and trees. These are the most common kinds of eye allergies and are called SEASONAL ALLERGIC CONJUNCTIVITIS. •Dust, pet dander, and other indoor allergens. These eye allergies last year-round and are called CHRONIC (PERENNIAL) CONJUNCTIVITIS. •Makeup, perfume, or other chemicals can trigger eye allergies called CONTACT CONJUNCTIVITIS. •An allergy to contact lenses, called GIANT PAPILLARY CONJUNCTIVITIS, makes eyes sensitive and red. Just like any other allergic reaction, they are caused by a MISFIRING OF THE IMMUNE SYSTEM, the body's natural defense mechanism. It releases HISTAMINE, a chemical that causes swelling and inflammation. Symptoms to Watch For •Red, irritated eyes •Itchiness •Tearing or runny eyes •Swollen eyelids •Soreness, burning, or pain •Sensitivity to light Usually you’ll also have other allergy symptoms, such as a stuffy, runny nose and sneezing. DON'T TAKE YOUR EYES FOR GRANTED! Protect your sight with these six tips: 1. Eat for Good Vision 2. Quit Smoking 3. Wear Sunglasses 4. Wash your eyes 3-4 times a day 5. Look Away From the Computer Screen 6. Avoid rubbing your eyes with fingers/ cloth/ shirt/ dupatta, etc. Also, it would be a good idea to use a lubricant eye drop. In case the allergy persists, get a check up by your eye specialist. In that way, any other cause for your itching would be identified and treated promptly. Hope my suggestions help you.

My eyes is burning last 20 day due to which I am finding problems in working on PC please tell me what to do.
Long hours work on computers often causes a spectrum of symptoms like eye strain, watering, redness, etc leading to computer vision syndrome. You should give 5 mins of eye rest after at least 45 mins of computer work, by focussing at a distant object and then the tip of your finger at one arm length alternately. This relaxes the stressed muscles of the eye which are reaponsible for focussing on the computer screen. Also proper distance from the screen should be maintained with correct straight backed posture. If you use glasses you can go for glare free lenses. Also get your near vision checked for correct prescription of glasses. Room lighting should be adequate (coming from behind). If still symptoms persist consult an ophthalmologist for detailed check up and prescription of medicines.

Hi, I want to know the difference between FACO, MICS and FAMTO. I also want to know which lence is best/Safe for both visions (Far and Short). The patient is aged 58, diagonsed very initial stage cataract, enhancement in numbers of glasses from 1 to 2. She is diagonsed for Cataract surgery. Doctor also said that he may remove her glasses by surgery.

Phaco Development Program, Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology, DNB Ophtalmology, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Mysore
I think you mean phaco. It is actually short for phacoemulsification which is a type of cataract surgery where we emulsify the cataract in the eye. It requires a small incision. Depending upon the type of lens you opt the incision given will vary form 2. 6mm to 3. 2mm. Mics is a variant of phaco where the incision will be 2. 2mm. In femto the incisions are given by laser and the cataract will be softened by laser but the rest of the procedure will be done by phaco itself. If you want to opt for intaocular lenses which will give both clarity for near and distant vision then you will have to go for multi-focal iols. It has both advantages and disadvantages (like glare etc.) discuss it with the surgeon itself.

You will be happy if you get full correction for distance in one eye (dominant one) and leave -1.50 in the other eye (this will give good near vision without spects).

I'm 21 and got my eyes treated with the lazik eye treatment, for removing the power out of my eyes, it's been more than 6 months now. Some times I don't feel good, it's like i'm seeing two things all of a sudden. It's not a regular thing but it happens some times. I still wear glasses sometimes because I feel I don't appear good without them.

FICO, Specialist in Cataract,Cornea and refractive surgeries , MD - Ophthalmology

Kindly mention your vision post lasik. If you have a residual refractive error, you have to use spectacles. Under correction or overcorrection is a common problem after lasik. Another thing is convergence insufficiency. When you are using minus number glasses, it has a prismatic effect. So you dont have to use your muscles much for the near vision, as a result the strength of muscle decrease with time. After lasik there can be easy fatiguibility, especially for near work. However with convergence exercises the strength of muscles is regained with time.

I feeling difficult for my eyes while using mobile phone. So should I do to avoid Strain?

BHMS

I feeling difficult for my eyes while using mobile phone. So should I do to avoid Strain?
Hello. Any activity that requires intense use of the eyes -- such as extended amounts of driving or reading -- can cause eye fatigue. These include extended periods of: reading writing driving exposure to bright light or straining to see in dim light can also cause eye fatigue. One of the most common causes of eye fatigue is staring for long periods at digital devices such as: computer screens smartphones video games during sleep, the eyes are replenished with essential nutrients. Lack of sleep may result in persistent eye irritation. Prevention of eye fatigue usually eye fatigue can be prevented or reduced by making simple changes in your work habits or environment. Make changes to your computer screen, such as: place the screen 20-26 inches away from your eyes and a little below eye level. Regularly clean off dust and fingerprints from the screen. Smudges on the screen can reduce contrast and increase problems with glare and reflections. Choose screens that tilt and swivel. Consider using a glare filter over your screen. Make changes to your work environment, such as: change lighting to reduce glare and harsh reflections. Use an adjustable chair. Place a document holder next to your computer screen. Make changes to your work habits, such as: try the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, look away about 20 feet in front of you for 20 seconds. Post a note that says" blink" on the computer as a reminder. Take regular breaks from computer work. Take care of your eyes with these steps: apply a washcloth soaked in warm water to tired, dry eyes (with eyes closed). Use artificial tears to refresh your eyes when they feel dry. To help prevent dry eyes while working indoors, use an air cleaner to filter dust and a humidifier to add moisture to the air. Management: give sufficient rest to your eyes with proper sleep. Keep yourself hydrated with intake of 10-12 glasses of water in a day. Eat healthy especially vitamin a rich food (green vegetables, carrots, yellow fruits and vegetables) and avoid junk food. Hold tap water in your flexed palm, dip your one eye closer to the water level, shut and open your eyelids often. Do the same with your other eye. Repeat this whole process 1-2 times more in a day. Give your eyes proper rest. Can keep slices of cucumber or potato or used tea bags over the closed eyes for sometime. Medication: instill 2 drops of euphrasia eye drops in each eye twice daily.

Facts About Eye Stye You Need to Know

Facts About Eye Stye You Need to Know

An eye stye develops when a specific oil gland at the edge of an eyelid gets infected. A stye looks like a pimple in appearance and may occur either outside or the inside of an eyelid.

Here are several facts you should know about eye styes:

  1. Pain, redness and tenderness are the first signs: After these symptoms are observed, a small pimple develops in the affected area and swells up the eyes. In some cases, only the immediate area is affected while in other cases, the entire eye gets swollen.
  2. Styes do not cause problems with vision: Vision is not affected by eye styes much and both near vision and far vision will remain unaffected.
  3. Staphylococcal bacteria causes an eye stye: This specific bacteria is usually found in the nose which makes it easy to transfer to the eyes when you rub your nose (read more about Allergic Issues of the Nose) and then the eyes.
  4. Styes are contagious: Every human contains this bacteria in their body, which cause styes and any person of any age can develop an eye stye. Eye styes are contagious in nature and can spread from person to person. You must keep your eyes and hands very clean and must not share pillows, bed sheets or towels.
  5. Most eye styes heal on their own: Most styes heal on their own within a few days. Applying hot compress for fifteen minutes, three to four times a day, can help you get relief from an eye stye. This process, continued over a long time will cause the stye to rupture, drain and heal on its own.
  6. Do not pop an eye stye: People have the habit of popping pimples (know more about the Home Remedies to Get Rid of Pimples) with their fingers, but it is advised not to do that in case of eye styes. You must allow the stye to heal on its own.

A stye occurring inside the eyelid is called an internal hordeolum and might not rupture or heal on its own. This type of stye is serious and requires medical attention, the doctor will surgically open it up and drain it. You will be prescribed antibiotic ointments in case of recurring styes. Pre moistened eyelid cleansing pads can also be used to maintain hygiene and avoid blepharitis.

Eye stye can occur due to other eye issues: Other conditions of the eyes can also cause eye styes. The affected area undergoes frequent watering, light sensitivity gets increased and the person may feel something is stuck in their eye. An eye stye causes infection of the eyelids and affects the entire eye. Although they are not very serious and in most cases heal on their own, proper care, and precautions should be taken for eye styes. If you wish to discuss about any specific eye problem, you can consult a specilized opthamologist and ask a free question.

There is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 18 years so your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. As you are not comfortable with contact lens then go for lasik. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.
