Role of Homeopathy in Psoriasis

Homeopath, Lucknow
Role of Homeopathy in Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a type of a skin disease in which the skin cells start to multiply at a much faster rate, forming thick white, red or silvery growths on the skin. In a healthy human being, skin cells shed every four weeks. The new skin cells replace them; growing as the old skin sheds itself. In Psoriasis, new skin cells grow at a much faster rate, forming thick patches of skin called plaques. In most cases, the plaques develop on the hands, knees, elbows, lower back, scalp and feet.

The exact causes behind Psoriasis are not known but most authorities point to a combination of genetic and environmental factors. For example, it has been found that it occurs among the members of the same family quite often or it tends to affect people who live in cold and wet climates. Psoriasis can be triggered by a variety of factors. If you have a strong immune system, it does not amount to much. But if you don’t, the disease gets triggered.

A few known factors that can aggravate Psoriasis are as follows:

  1. Obesity: Being overweight is known to be an important contributing factor.

  2. Stress: Mental stress can be another factor which tends to increase the symptoms of psoriasis.

  3. Injury: Any injury to a particular body part can cause psoriasis to develop there.

  4. Drugs: Some medicines are also known to increase the incidence of this problem.

  5. Skin Dryness: If the skin is dry, the itching and flake formation tends to increase.

Role of Homeopathy in Psoriasis:

While conventional treatments for psoriasis are effective, in most cases, the skin disease makes a comeback. Homeopathy on the other hand, not only attempts to cure psoriasis, but also tackles the triggers that lead to the onset of the disease, resulting in a more healthy treatment. Finding out about the trigger can lead to a more effective and permanent cure. The location of the plaque can also help in deciding the right course of homeopathy treatment. The doctor also focuses on factors that tend to aggravate or alleviate the situation, as it might give a clue to its cause.

Homeopathic medicines for Psoriasis act on the body at the level of immunity and restore the deviated function. They also help to control the symptoms of Psoriasis without any side effects. Welling Homeopathy treatment for psoriasis is a tried and tested protocol to offer long term relief and permanent cure gradually.

The Homeopathic medicines for Psoriasis have to be specific to every individual person. That is the reason a detailed history is required to customise the treatment for Psoriasis. The Homeopathic treatment for psoriasis is chalked out after a detailed analysis and review of your past treatments for psoriasis and medicines for psoriasis taken by you.

I am 19 year old. I want to know abt skin laser treatment for acne and whitening skin. Am I am only 19 years old so can I go for laser skin treatment for whitening skin? ?and tell me wht is d cost of an entire treatment and side effects??

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Laser treatment is usually safe for pigmentation if got done by an expert with good experience of using laser but it can still lead to some side effects. In darker individuals there can be hyperpigmentation, worsening or recurrence of the skin condition for which laser is being done. These are unpredictable and can occur inspite of all the precautions. In some cases it may not be possible to get rid of complete pigmentation. Moreover multiple sittings are required. I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to clarify any further doubts. Regards

I have ringworm on my thigh. What are the precautions should I have to adopt to cure it.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, Ringworm is caused by a fungus that grows on the skin. Once the fungus is established, it spreads out in rings. The centre of the ring may clear up, while a new ring of infection develops at the edge of the old ring. Fungi are microscopic organisms that can live off the dead tissues of your skin, hair, and nails, much like a mushroom can grow on the bark of a tree. Medication: Take Schwabe's Tellurium 30/ thrice daily for 2 weeks. Management: Good personal hygiene helps prevent the spread of ringworm. Teach your child to practise good hygiene and generally not to share combs, brushes, or hats. Children also shouldn't share towels, clothes, or sports equipment that haven't been properly cleaned. Avoid wearing any wet clothes, prefer cotton clothes, keep the area dry and clean. Never use others towels or clothes as well as don't share yours with others. Ringworm can also be transmitted from an infected dog or cat, so avoid animals who look mangy or have bald spots in their coats. If you have an animal that you think may have ringworm, take it to the vet for treatment.

I m 21years old lady and in my face red red blimishes are there since 2 years. Now I dnt have any pimples but only red spots is present! what should I do decrease redness?

Certified Diabetes Educator, Registered Dietitian (RD), PGDD, Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (B.U.M.S), General Physician
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Acne is a common problem in teen. Almost everybody will get pimples during their teen years. First, Don't try to self treat acne. Some popular nonprescription acne lotions, cleansers and other skin products can cause a serious reaction(rare), mostly it is normal to have acne in teenage. For pimples it's important to wash your face twice daily to remove impurities, dead skin cells, and extra oil from your skin's surface, Avoid touching your face or propping your cheek or chin on your hands. Not only can you spread bacteria, you can also irritate the already inflamed facial skin. Never pick or pop pimples with your fingers, as it can lead to infection and scarring. A dietary therapy with the right medications for pimples can also help a lot. Kojic acid (a natural skin lightener derived from mushroom extract), arbutin (also called bearberry extract), and vitamin C (ascorbic acid) are great alternative ingredients to lighten scars left by acne. Don't use vitamin E on scars. You may have heard that applying vitamin E to a scar will help it heal faster. But according to a study , applying the nutrient directly onto a scar can actually hinder its healing. In the study, vitamin E either had no effect or made matters worse for 90% of the patients, and 33% who put vitamin E on the skin developed a contact dermatitis. Increasing the intake of omega-3 fatty acids through a diet significantly rich in fish and seafood results in lower rates of an inflammatory disease like acne. A low-glycemic-index diet also reduces acne risk. I being a both a registered dietitian (RD) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications . I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for Rx.

My hairs are falling rapidly and I am having dandruff on my head. What should I do? Please advise.

BHMS
Homeopath,
The major cause for hair fall is an improper diet. Slight dietary modifications will greatly help to reduce the hair fall. You can include flax seeds (alsi) in your diet. Roast a pack of flax seeds and store it in a container, consuming a teaspoon a day will greatly help reduce hair fall. Also include sabza (falooda seeds) in your diet. You can soak a teaspoon in half a cup of water and consume it. Having a diet rich in protein and zinc will help reduce hair fall as well. Do include greens, sprouts, almonds and walnuts in your diet as well. All this will help reduce hair fall and the occurrence of dandruff. It is also important to oil your hair 3 times a week and wash it an hour or 2 after oiling.

I am 48 years old I'm suffering from hair fall seems to be hereditary problem. What should I do?

MD - Dermatology
Dermatologist, Pathanamthitta
It's good you understand that your genes play a vital role in your hair fall. There are no homeremedies that vil help or quick responses for it. It can definitely be controlled. It's important to eat plenty of pulses, fish, meat and milk. Drink at least two litres water everyday. Exercise regularly. Don't stress out because you don't have long hair or because your hair's falling. Avoid all forms of chemicals, hot devices and blowdryers to prevent hair damage. Massage scalp and wash twice or thrice a week. Don't overshampoo, it'll spoil hair. Don't tie up wet hair and sleep, it'll get infected. If any infections, g et it treated. A thorough blood check up is needed to eliminate autoimmune, hormonal and nutritional diseases. Apart from this, treatment may b needed in resistant cases.

Chicken pox marks can easily be controlled by implementing below given methods in your life style.Being a homoeopath I will suggest you a cream alongwith which will help you along with this natural applicators. • Tomato and Lemon Juice. These fruits have natural bleaching properties which greatly reduce and whitens black spot marks. To use, simply apply a small amount using a cotton applicator (Q-tip). It's a genetics and also depends on hormonal (testosterone) sensitivity of hair root. It can't be changed. You don't have adequate hair roots over there. You are just 21 year old. Wait for couple of years for hairs to grow. If hairs doesn't grow, hair transplant is the treatment option.

Hi there is a white type spot I can see on my face am too conscious about it. Is it due to lack of vitamin? Please help me it is clearly visible on my face.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
White spots on can occur due to a number of reasons, of which conditions can be mild or severe. The condition can be mild or severe, and generally covers the majority of the skin on a particular area of the body. They may also cause irritation or itching. The occurrence of whites on the face can be extremely distressing. People affected with this problem should obtain medical advice to diagnose what is causing the condition and the suitable treatment. Causes of White Spots White spots on the face occur for various reasons. Understanding some of these reasons may be beneficial in treating the condition. Furthermore, understanding the cause can also help people avoid certain circumstances that increase the risk. 1. Tinea Versicolor This is a chronic fungal infection of the skin. Also known as pityriasisversicolor, this fungus causes discolored patches on the skin as it interferes with the normal pigmentation. The color of the patches may be darker or lighter than the surrounding skin and most often, affects the back and trunk of adolescent males. Exposure to sunlight, hot, humid weather, oily skin and excessive sweating may aggravate the condition. 2. Vitiligo This is a skin condition that results in the loss of melanocyte pigmentation of the skin. This results in white patches that feel as if it is part of the skin. The cause of vitiligo is unclear although it is believed to be an autoimmune disease. However, mild trauma to any area of the skin including the face can also result in the development of vitiligo. Vitiligo can affect the face, hands and feet, elbows and genital area. 3. Idiopathic Guttate Hypomelanosis White spots on the face may also be due to Idiopathic Guttate Hypomelanosis, a skin condition resulting in 2 to 5 mm flat, white spots commonly found on the shins and forearms. This skin condition mostly affects fair skinned people, although it may occur in dark skinned individuals too. The white spots may occur more commonly in people over the age of 40. 4. Pityriasis Alba This skin condition is common in children aged 6 to 12. It is a rash that appears on the face, neck and arms, and is not easily differentiated between normal skin. The rash may be covered with skin flakes resembling light dust. The cause of Pityriasis Alba is not known and is often considered as a form of eczema. This condition is often mistaken with vitiligo. However, while vitiligo has a distinct border, Pityriasis Alba does not. Treatments for White Spots on Face The medical treatment for white spots depends entirely on the root cause that underlies the condition. There are certain things that you can try to accelerate the process of treatment . Some of these mentioned treatments are professional while others are home remedies. Home Remedies .  For treating vitiligo, consumption of ginger juice is recommended as it promotes blood flow. neem seed oil applied to the affected area will also bring beneficial results.  Idiopathic Guttate Hypomelanosis may not require treatment as it is harmless. However, topical steroids and retinoids may help treat the condition.  Treatment for Pityriasis Alba may not be necessary although the application of a moisturizer or hydrocortisone creams may help the disappearance of these patches.  Washing the face with mild soaps and exfoliating the skin at least twice a week with a honey, rice, turmeric and sandalwood powder paste can treat Tinea Versicolor. So identify your problem of white spots with the help of your local doctor so that appropriate treatment is given or send me your picture depicting those white spot along with the complete hitory of your spots,so that I am clear in making a diagnosis.

I am 33 years female I have dark brown spots like freckles on my face but now it's spreading all over my face. please suggest. I don't want to laser. And as dermatologist prescribed hydroquinone cream by which is spreading more So other than laser and hydroquinone anything else you can suggest.

BHMS
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Hello.... Homeopathic remedies control the excessive formation of melanin which play an important role for freckles. Gradually the dark spots become lighter than before; the occurrences of new patches reduce and ultimately stop. While choosing medicines the cause of freckles is evaluated, for example, genetic predisposition, hormonal imbalances, sun exposure, poor immune system and so on. Homeopathy treatment, which gets to the root of the problem will reinforce the immune system and gradually restore the pigmented spots to the normal skin color. The remedies restore the hormonal imbalance and control the excessive production of melanin. Homeopathy will not inhibit the natural process of the skin's melanin production. It will act on melanocytes to produce less melanin naturally thus strengthening the skin cells to stay healthy and remove excessive melanin in the skin. This improves the quality (texture) of skin, freckles disappear and further discoloration of skin stops. Homeopathic medicines cure freckles or ephelides or lentigo or sunspots from the root cause and assuring the patient of not facing the similar problem in future. So if you want to cure your problem consult me for the treatment...

IAT, BHMS
Ayurveda, Mumbai
Hair loss happens due to various reasons and shampoos and oils alone will never be able to stop your hair loss. There could be some nutritional deficiency or hereditary factor or some medical problem if it has persisted for mor than three months. I would like to advise you to have a balanced meal with enough proteins and have two cups of green tea daily. Also have walnuts, almonds and flaxseeds regularly. Start a multivitamin supplement and exercise atleast four times a week to improve blood circulation to the scalp. If your hair loss does not reduce in two months after doing this you may need further investigation. An early treatment is the key to successful results in hair loss cases as the damage to hair follicles can be prevented with the right treatment.
