My friend is suffering from stress because he is not getting a job and became 28 years old. what he should do?
Use the below methods to relax 1. Meditation it's not as new-age as it sounds. No moonstones and patchouli oil required. In fact it's really easy and effective. It's basically awareness; listening to your own breathing, looking at a view, or it can be whatever you like as long as you clear your mind of other thoughts and cares. You may find it helpful to repeat a mantra at the same time to make focus easier. If you want something less free-form there are various types of meditation that you can learn from, transcendental meditation to heart rhythm meditation. All have a different slant on awareness and relaxation. Try it when you feel yourself getting stressed or as a preventative measure for 5 to 10 minutes a day. 2. Deep breathing by slowing down your breathing and breathing from your diaphragm you can immediately relax yourself. When we are stressed we tend to take shallow breaths which don't give us enough oxygen. Stand up and breathe deeply into your tummy ten times. Imagine you are filling up a balloon as you breathe in through your nose, and deflating it as you breathe out through your mouth. It helps to put your hand gently over your tummy button and feel as your tummy pushes it out and then brings it back in as you breathe the air out. 3. Mindfulness this is a bit of a buzz word at the moment. It's quite closely linked with meditation. The idea is to be mindful of something and appreciate it in that present moment and block everything else out. It may be appreciating the colour of a flower or examining a piece of jewellery to see how it was made. Focusing on the present can reduce stress. Linda blair clinical psychologist and author of'the key to calm' says you can practise mindfulness and relax in just 3 minutes" turn off your screen, choose a common object like a pencil or a coin (not your phone) and begin breathing very slowly focusing on the object and describing it to yourself in as much detail as you can. To focus completely and fully on something in the present is the essence of mindfulness. And approach a career counsellor.

Hi Sana In a normal scenario an egg usually forms on the 14th day of the menstrual cycle and then it is released by the ovary through a process known as ovulation. Then it is picked up by the fallopian tube and in the fallopian tube it is fertilized by the sperm resulting into conception and then further events takes place resulting in pregnancy. For this both the egg and the sperm needs to be healthy enough so that the whole process can go on in a normal and healthy way. When the scan report says that the egg is not healthy then it means it might not survive for long and the process of fertilization will not happen. In simple words it means it will be difficult for you to concieve. Your being worried is quite natural in current situation. I assume you must have gone for extensive investigations of yourself and your partner. Considering reports of your partner normal, this seems to be very much the cause of your problem:- eggs are forming but they are not healthy. I advise you to go for HOLISTIC homoeopathic treatment for your problem and within a course of 6-8 months this problem will not be there anymore and you will be able to concieve. It will need a detailed case history and analysis of investigations. You can contact through lybrate for the same.

I was feeling nervous more than month ago I am 18 yr old.what can be the treatment for my nervousness
It is very significant that you should have this at this time and age. There is something related to fear from your childhood that is surfacing seeking a resolution. Go to a counselor immediately and work out this fear. Nervousness is abnormal fear, or you are reacting to normal fear in an abnormal way. At your age the hormones will also trouble you to cause more difficulties, which is why it is so recent. It generally lasts for two years but if you do not resolve it now, you might carry a permanent negative trait into adulthood. In the meantime please do vigorous exercise of the aerobic kind for the heart’s fitness; meditation for the brain’s fitness; sleep for a well rested mind and body; and a diet with lots of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. Emotionally you need the help of a counselor and that will help you tremendously to move from anxiety to normal fear. You may ask your parents about your developmental milestones, including that of your prenatal life to help with the therapy. Yo can also attend a personality development course and learn to meet and mix with a lot of people.

I am 26 years old and i'm so aggressive. I hate everyone my family & boyfriend I told them reason why I hate them they are ignored my each and every world they act like normal. I love them too much but they ignore me.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
You have told everybody the reason for your anger except me! you need to know why you are so angry. Is it from your family and was it from early childhood? there could be a lot of happenings in childhood and even from prenatal days that you are carrying in this anger and are not able to explain it. Meet with a counselor for your emotions and work with that person to identify the origin of the feeling and sort it out soon. You may lose your boyfriend in the bargain and not know why that happened. There is definitely a reason for this emotion, and you should not go around throwing tantrums without knowing why. If you do vigorous exercise every day, you could expend the energy of anger and feel less volatile and then perhaps you may be more sensible. Try it and see. It always works. Now if you discover the reason and it has to do with your parents, then learn to forgive them for your own sake and life will take a different turn for sure. If you are a spiritual person, I strongly recommend that you hand over this anger to god and you will be pleasantly surprised as to how good it feels after that.

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist,
Iq is something that is constant in our life like our height, complexion etc, what can be improved is concentration. If you are lacking concentration then you need to check whether you are getting too much stress due to your studies and then try to address it.

I feel tired all the time and can't concentrate on study. Sometimes my chest also pain.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd

You may be under some stress, and I do not know if you are aware of it. Find out what this disturbance is all about and as you address it, memory and concentration will happily return to favor you. Do meet with a counselor, if your stress is too much. In the meantime please follow the suggested guidelines: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night?s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that you and the family go for counseling too.

They are prescribed mostly to older people for attention deficit disorders, to boost concentration there are no studies on the long-term effects of these drugs on healthy people The drugs affect the brain except certain Symptoms of general excitability, including anxiety, insomnia, irritability, headache, agitation, nervousness, tremor, and hyperkinesia, are occasionally reported. Other reported side effects include somnolence, weight gain, clinical depression, weakness, increased libido, and hyper sexuality.Lot many substitutes are available in Alternative medicines to improve cognitive problems. I am 53 year old women, suffering from depression for over 2 years. The trouble is more in mornings. Panic attacks are also there. Whenever my schedule of work and living changes it becomes more. Under the presumption of Menopause HRT treatment has been given with not much effect. Some homeopathic medicines have also been given. Meditation and yoga and exercises have been very meticulously tried. I travelled to India twice during this period. As soon as I land in India, whole trouble just disappears, as if it was never there. On landing back it remains OK for a few months (2-3) months and returns. There are no problems within family. Have excellent husband and in-laws and gifted daughter (16) and son (12), very loving too. Children are getting affected which is a serious concern. Any change in routine adversely affects. Please advise.

Hi lybrate-user even though you feel that you have a supporting family, your description of the problems suggests that there may be the following reasons for your problems 1. May be you have a sense of unconscious insecurity in places other than india, the place where you feel have you have your own people all around you 2. You may be experiencing feelings of loneliness primary because you may not be sharing your needs wants and experiences freely with you family members, may be because of time limitations or the assumption that your family members may not be interested in it 3. You may be taking too much of responsibility related to the family when you are along with them which may be creating stress in you and you are unable to find time for yourself or relax however what ever may be the cause cbt may be the best mode of therapy that can help you to handle the problem. So get in touch with a clinical psychologist practicing cbt at the earliest.

Hi I am newly married boy. It's arranged marriage. After 2 months later of my marriage my wife disclose me her four yera relationship with a boy but there was no physical relationship made during that period. After that I am in depression,. I am very confused, and feel that I made a mistake after marriage of this type of girl. What should I do tell me I am taking pills for sleep. Problem of headache occur. Please tell what should I do?

M.Sc - Applied Psychology
Psychologist, Bangalore
Hi. You are feeling distressed, betrayed and thinking too much. Look at the other side. Your wife put in so much trust on you that she opened her heart to you by telling honestly about her life before marriage. She had all the options not to say anything but she chose to share a very personal part of her life with you. You may have difficulty digesting it, but if you see her faith in you then probably your anger may reduce. What she did before marriage has nothing to do with today. Anybody can have a relationship that may not have worked for them and so they move on. She has moved on too. Taking her past and judging her for it is not going to help you in anyway. Instead of brooding over something that has happened before and not at all related to your present, it will be appropriate if you can build a healthy relationship with her now. She is a human being, just like you, with feelings. So give her your love, which is her right and lead a fulfilling life. Past is past. All that you have now is your present, so live it to the fullest. If you are unable to make peace with yourself then do consult a counsellor to explore your value and belief systems.

This is age related feeling and retirement blues. When retired you have lost the hectic old life and feel more lonely. You find time to read good books, listen to music, or make it habit to go to local club if any or a library where you may met persons of our liking and age. Do meditaion and yoga.

Dear Lybrate user, smart phone addiction, facebook / whatsup addiction etc are behavior addictions. Behavioral addiction is a form of addiction that involves a compulsion to engage in a rewarding non-drug-related behavior – sometimes called a natural reward – despite any negative consequences to the person's physical, mental, social or financial well-being. Diverting your mind and body away from the circumstances which compels you for the addictive habit, with the help of physical exercises, games, entertainment etc can help you. Never sleep alone. Be always with your family even at night etc are some other tips. Willpower is the key always. Behavioral therapy also works well. Take care.
