Eyes are beautiful gift to enjoy God's creation .It works like a camera capturing images through transparent part of eye cornea; lens and focusing it on retina. Various eye surface and lid structures help to maintain the corneal transparency because oce it is lost either due to trauma; infection; oedema;dryness; etc leads to blockage or distortion in image formation hence reduced vision. So it very important to be safe then sorry protecting the eyes by protective glasses while driving or in outdoors ad also while working for loner hours in computers. Any redness of eye should be taken seriously and examined by Ophthalmologists to prevent corneal complications.
Whitish appearance of eye is also of concern as it can be commonly due to corneal [ulcer] or lenticular [cataract] retinal problem etc and needs proper examination.
Please take care of God gifted camera and enjoy world by doing regular check ups.

Hello. There is no medication or food for improving eye sight or to get rid of glasses. Get your vision tested and wear glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 26 years so your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik after age of 18 yrs.

My 2 year old son is diagnosed with simple myopic astigmatism. And the cover test shows orthophoria. Anterior and posterior segment is in normal limits. Refraction is -3.5×180 in left eye and -3.0×180 in right eye. How do you consider these complications and what is the way out for that. He was prescribed with contact lenses.

Hello 1. For small powers, number of both are same but difference appears as power of glasses increases. This difference appears due to difference in vertex distance (we wear glasses 13 mm from cornea but we wear contact lens directly on cornea)

I am 58 years old with Diabetic History of 15 years. During my routine check of eyesight I am told that I have catract in priliminary stage. My doctor says it is better to get operated in early stage. is this correct.

MBBS, MS - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
If you have minor problem in seeing then you can wait for 3-4 months and then get reviewed again. But if you delay cataract to late stages then it is difficult to handle. As you told it's in early stages and if no major visual problem then you can wait.
