There can be many reasons of delayed periods. Firstly 1week late or early is normal, its not counted as any abnormality. Secondly check your Hb level. If its less then that could be the reason. For that you can take Tonoferon syrup 1 tsp twice a day for 3-4 mnths. Otherwise if Hb level is fine you can take ayurvedic uterine tonic M2tone or Amycordial or N-stree whichever is available to you. 2tsp thrice after food for 6mnths

Hi, pregnancy test is negative depends on when the pregnancy test was done? If test was done immediately after missing periods, test can be negative. If test is done after 7-15 days of missing the periods and report is negative, then you need to consult a gynaecologist and they will give tablets for getting menses.

Hello doctor I had my periods on 22 july and it lasted for 5 days and I had unprotected sex on 10th august and I took the unwanted 72 pill on 11th august which is the next day before 24 hours. My periods date for every month varies about 3-4 days. So this month I expect it around 22. So as I know they say it bleeds within 10 days approximately. So what I wanted to as you is. If I have bleeding in these 10 days will it be my periods or the effects of the unwanted 72 pill? And if it does not bleed then when will I have my next periods approximately. Please let me know as soon as possible.

Hi do not worry so much. You can have irregular periods in this cycle. In case you do not have periods till 22 august. Just do a urine pregnancy test urself using preganews kit etc. If its negative then do not worry you will have periods sooner or later. Avoid unprotected exposure as condoms not only avoid pregnancy but also protect from many infections.

Good Habit to Keep Your Vagina Healthy

Most women follow some kind of routine to keep their private parts healthy. Often, some habits have a bearing on sex life and possible future risk of diseases like cancer - Avoid Douching the vagina - Douching and deep cleaning the vagina by pushing in cleansing liquids or using tissues to wipe the vagina from deep within is no longer considered healthy. It may be harmful and cause internal injuries and burns. Many decades back women used to douche using natural ingredients like yogurt for yeast infection but better treatment is now available and one should seek proper medical advice in case of any trouble

Nobody can predict a happy married life. Nothing wrong in marrying a divorced man, but the real reason why his first marriage broke should ne ascertained. Also you can get a personality test/ evaluation for both of them to reasonalby predict if there is a maladaptive personality trait underlying as the mature man might project his good only and hide his underlying negative behavior, whcih we see very commonly. Also the age difference is huge, after 5 to 10 years there might problems with physical relationship compatibility. Still, if everything is fine, you can proceed, but be careful, we see more failures with these type of guys and double check everything. All the best.

These are simple cysts that are small in size (less than 2 inches or 5 cm in diameter). Ovarian cysts during pregnancy are usually functional ovarian cysts. Most of these ovarian cysts that are detected in the first trimester spontaneously resolve by the early part of the second trimester. The treatment of ovarian cysts depends on the risk it poses and the discomfort felt by the woman during pregnancy. Watchful waiting is the first approach when a cyst is discovered in an ultrasound scan. With follow up scans, it is possible to tell if the cyst has resolved on its own or is growing in size, posing a risk. So relax just follow your gynaecologist. She will take care of your condition.

Any pills for abortion without doing surgical method because unprotected sex had just had been 2 week. Plzz help me out.

Hi lybrate-user. Not every unprotected sex leads to a pregnancy. Pregnancy depends on factors such as ovulation. There are medicines to help with abortion but I would not suggest you just take them casually as incorrect dosage and technique leads to severe problems, sometimes requiring hospitalisation and surgery as well. So I would advise you do a pregnancy test and check if you are actually pregnant or not. Do the test with an early morning sample of urine after a week of delayed period to confirm.

What To Do When Your Kid Is Suffering From Congenital Heart Disease?

MBBS, MD - General Medicine, DM - Cardiology
Cardiologist, Delhi
What To Do When Your Kid Is Suffering From Congenital Heart Disease?

Most families refer to their newborn baby as their 'bundle of joy'. The news of a child being born brings immense joy to the entire family. However, due to various reasons, a child could be born with some medical abnormalities, which would be known as congenital abnormalities. There are several different types of heart defects that can be congenital. These usually manifest themselves either immediately after birth or in the early years of life. In some cases, the abnormality could be detected on prenatal ultrasounds. In others, it may not be and the family could be caught off guard about the condition. This causes a lot of stress, both for the child, who does not receive regular postnatal care and for the parents immediately after the delivery process.

If the baby has the following symptoms within the first few hours of life, there could be a serious underlying condition, which requires medical attention. The presence and severity of the symptoms would depend on the actual abnormality.

  1. The skin is pale gray or blue in color due to excessive venous flow in the system
  2. Excessive sweating
  3. The child is exerting to breathe regularly
  4. Rapid breathing causes added load on the heart accompanied by a grunting noise
  5. Flared nostrils i.e. the baby attempts to take in more oxygen with each breath causes flared nostrils
  6. Swollen legs, eyes, and abdomen: Fluid retention in the legs and abdomen is quite common, and this could be characteristic of newborns with congenital heart disease
  7. Shortness of breath, even during feeding
  8. Clubbed fingernails
  9. Lethargy and low energy, even with feeding, therefore very poor feeding pattern
  10. Chest pain, which may cause the newborn to cry incessantly
  11. Low weight gain, as they feed less

In some children, symptoms manifest only during the teenage years or early adulthood. These conditions are not very severe and the symptoms include:

  1. Swelling of the hands, feet, and ankles due to fluid accumulation
  2. Lowered energy levels, leading to easy fatigue
  3. Shortness of breath with even minimal physical activity
  4. Inability to exercise
  5. Developmental delays and changes in growth milestones
  6. Recurrent respiratory tract infections including sinus infections, bronchitis, and pneumonia
  7. Endocarditis
  8. Pulmonary hypertension
  9. Heart failure, where the heart is not able to effectively function and pump blood to all parts of the body.

Some or more of these symptoms should trigger a warning to get the child tested for congenital heart disease. While some would just require a monitoring until severe symptoms develop, severe conditions like holes, abnormal valves, narrowed arteries, and blood vessel abnormalities might require immediate intervention.
