I'm a 26-year old woman and I'd need some advice regarding my QT values. If I understand correctly, QTc intervals of less than 440 Ms. are considered to be normal, whereas QTc intervals of 440 Ms. to 460 Ms. in men and 440 Ms. to 470 Ms. in women are considered borderline. A couple of days ago I had an ECG. My QT/QTc was 412/447 Ms. at a heart rate of 71 bpm. Is this something to worry about (long QT syndrome)? I've been suffering from PVCs every day for over a year, but my heart should be structurally fine according to an echocardiogram. During the past few months I have had short bursts of an accelerated heartbeat with fluttering sensation and sometimes irregular heartbeat. I've decided to have 24-hour Holter monitoring again, just in case.

Hi lybrate-user, your qtc is within normal limits for women. But in patients who have QT prolongation, this at times gets precipitated by certain triggers. Since you have mentioned that you are having PVC's, then few things become important - What is the percentage of PVC load you have in 24 hrs (the holter will tell you that) 2. What is the cause of these PVC and whether the fluttering feeling you are experience is some abnormal rhythm. A holter will be able to tell this only if these things happen during the time of holter monitoring. A better way can Electrophysiology study, where we do detailed study of your heart's conduction system and see if at all any abnormal beats or rhythms are coming and where they are coming from and give you a definitive answer. So, you should consult a cardiac electrophysiologist with your present and past ECG and holter reports.

I get a feeling of slight palpitation on most evenings. Also find every 5/10th best is missing. My ecg done a year back was normal. A decade aho my heart doc had stated that a few beats missing or actually extra beats are no big deal and compared it with greying of hsir with age. Need assurance that I am ok.

The normal BP in our body is 120-80. It can change with the lifestyle, activities which are involved in our day to day life.

The symptoms of Hypertension-  Headache, numbness, body urea. Whenever hyper pressure affects eyes, it diminishes the vision, gastritis, liver problem etc.

How blood pressure is being treated?

There are various medicines available in the market such as angiotensins, blockers, angiotensin receptor blockers and other central nervous action drugs. It can reach up to the certain point of cure of hypertension. The 100% cure is not possible, you can only manage hypertension.

Dear lybrate user. I see you are only 28. You must have been diagnosed hypertensive just because of your stress and life style. There may not be any negative physical health conditions associated with hypertension. Moreover, the more you try to reduce your hypertension, the more you are becoming anxious, and therefore, actually worsening your hypertension. Therefore, please don't worry. Physical exercise, controlling the salt intake, controlling stress and anxiety, changing life style, being happy etc can clear the whole problem. I suggest online health counseling. Take care.

Sir am a 33 age old male, I have cholesterol, total cholesterol 231, HDL 43, LDL 161.2 what do now?

BHMS
Homeopath,
Sir
am a 33 age old male, I have cholesterol, total cholesterol 231, HDL 43, LDL 161.2 what do now?
Dear Lybrate User, Cholesterol is naturally produced inside the body of every living animal. Human beings are no exception to that. But when we take mutton, chicken, yellow part of a boiled egg, ghee, butter etc we intake cholesterol from external source. This extra cholesterol from external sources increase the total cholesterol content of human body. You should always keep your cholesterol level within normal limits as high cholesterol serves as a precursor to various cardiac diseases. Avoid the aforesaid food. Walk at least 1 hour in a day without any interval. Also you can take Homoeopathic Mother Tincture FUCUS VESICULOSUS Q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water.

Two years back one night in the middle of sleep, I felt as if I was having a heart attack or stroke and was very much scared. Went to doctor next morning, doctor said I am perfectly fine and did not even give any medicines too. But from then on I have different symptoms which mimic heart problems or nerve problems or something in the brain and dizziness etc. Was ordered few tests and everything was normal so doctor said I have anxiety and prescribed serta 25 mg. With or without it I feel normal for 2-3 months or have anxiety for several days. I am so fed up. I am going for so many blood tests every 3-4 months just to make sure nothing is actually wrong with me. Now I even forget taking serta for days together. Can I use it as and when needed or should I use it daily. Also I feel the same with r without it.

My father had a CABG on Mar 28, 2016. After keeping him in CTVS followed by HDU for 4 days doctors shifted him to his general ward. Since Mar 31, 2016 he was complaining that he was not able to remember anything. He forgot names of every family member and friends except one or two people who are not extremely close. He even forgot his own name as well. Doctors found yesterday that he got a blood clot in his left tempro -parietal lobe of the brain which had caused a stroke. This was definitely post CABG because before am operation too he had a CT scan where no such clot was evident. Now the doctors have given him the following medicines: Atova 20mg, diplate A-120, cetil 500mg, paracetamol, ditallox 12.5mg, insulin 6 units in morning, 8 units in afternoon and 6 units in the night. My father already had a mild stroke before in August 2012; that time his homocysteine level in sera was found to be 114 for which the doctor gave folic acid tablets as medicine. Rest a Carotid Doppler found minor plaques. Rest all tests were good. Now in this condition I am almost clueless what to do next? Please help.

It is not even 1 month when your father had a cabg. He has a history of a mild stroke in past and causes of stroke and heart attack are same, so is the prevention after a warning in the form of anginal pain or a mini stroke, he is a diabetic too, controlled on insulin. Sometimes medicines belonging to opiate group are given post operatively for bone pain, this does affect the memory and it is a temporary change, doctors shift to other pain killers like it has been the case - he is being given paracetamol, statins to bring down bad cholesterol that causes plaque. Carotid doppler has shown minor plaques which is expected because he had blockages which caused heart attack and stroke. May be your doctors will give medicines to dissolve clots in the brain. Continue the treatment as suggested by your doctors, remember it takes minimum 2 months for innermost tissues to recover, outwardly the stitches may look clear and normal, you need to have patience and help him recover. Good luck.
