My mother has recently started facing a chest pain which stretches from her chest till elbow of her left hand. Plus her sugar level was recently jumped to 500 day before yesterday. Later on the same day, it came down to 440 on taking a medicine which is jalra M 50/500 mg. Yesterday, I took her to a heart hospital which is located nearby, in emergency. The cardiologist which was on duty suggested to admit her. As her blood sugar level was 312. There was a change on ECG which was taken at that moment. I am attaching the ECG report for your reference. Please suggest what measures to be taken for my mother. I would be realy thankful for all your tips and please suggest what action to be taken?

Hi I am not able to read your ECG here but if the on duty cardiologist has advised admission then I am a assuming that ECG would be having some changes also your mother's blood sugar levels are quite high and having diabetes along with chest discomfort puts you with a very high risk of heart problems so I will advise you to get her evaluated thoroughly for cardiac issues. She would need the following tests 2d echocardiography Cardiac enzymes (trop I and CPKMB) And repeat ECG if there are any changes in the ECG or these other test then she will need angiography and you should get her admitted under a cardiologist near by as soon as possible.

Hello- Here are 6 Dietary and Lifestyle Tips To Lower Bad Cholestrol Levels. 1. Limit your intake of foods full of saturated fats, trans fats, and dietary cholesterol. Best Choice: Omega-3-rich fish, such as salmon, sardines, herring, mackerel, and trout. Choose at least 2 times weekly. If you’re using canned fish, such as canned sardines, select very-low-sodium or no-salt-added varieties. Good Choice: Most other fish, plus shelled mollusks (clams, oysters, mussels, scallops). Satisfactory Choices: Crustaceans (shrimp, crab, lobster, crawfish), Poultry (white meat, skinless) Game Meat (bison, venison, elk, ostrich), optimally free-range and grass-fed Poor Choice: Red meat (beef, pork, lamb, veal, goat). For all red meat choices, select cuts that are under 30% fat. 2. Eat a lot more fiber-rich foods (especially soluble fiber from foods like beans, oats, barley, fruits, and vegetables). 3. Choose protein-rich plant foods (such as legumes or beans, nuts, and seeds) over meat. 4. Lose as much excess weight as possible. 5. Take ayurvedic supplements (Arogyawardhini vati, Liporid etc). 6. Avoid sleeping in day time.

I got heart attack on 25th dec. doctors did angography and then angioplasty, they put two stents now on 20th april. I again did angogram as i was unable to walk. It shows there is blockage inside both the stents. Is there a solution for this in ayurveda?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Zirakpur
Opening of blockage inside stents by ayurveda has not been reported anywhere so its not advisable to comment. However blockage inside vessels has been tried in ayurveda and long term treatment has often been heard with success. For details your reports and recent history needed to be known.

Hello,
Recently my husband blood report show high cholesterol. He is having

High levels of cholesterol in the blood can increase your risk of heart disease. Your cholesterol levels tend to rise as you get older. There are usually no signs or symptoms that you have high blood cholesterol, but it can be detected with a blood test. You are likely to have high cholesterol if members of your family have it, if you are overweight or if you eat a lot of fatty foods. You can lower your cholesterol by exercising more and eating more fruits and vegetables. You also may need to take medicine to lower your cholesterol. High LDL high cholesterol put you on a higher risk of atherosclerotic diseases and heart attacks especially if you have other is factors including hypertension diabetes or a history of smoking so I would advise you to start taking statins which are cholesterol medications the dose of which depends upon your cholesterol levels also you need to start changing your dietary habits and include a regular physical exercise at least 45 minutes a day 5 days a week into your schedule nonetheless you have to stop taking fatty and junk food good luck.

Çhest pain in young age is commonly due to costochondritis (inflammation of rib and sternal junction). This condition will respond to complete over the counter available analgesics like Ibuprofen. Since details of your symptoms are not given, it's difficult to diagnose. You should get ECG and Chest X Ray done along with blood pressure check to rule out heart attack and lung infection. Yes it can affect the liver, make the person eat bad fats as fried snacks along with it & at 24 years, it is time to get good health tips to make it a habit for life. Btw, it will not help you with anxiety disorder permanently. It is only a temporary escape from anxiety. Get help from a professional counsellor but no anti anxiety tablets.

Hi Lybrate user, It seems that you are sufferring from anxiety disorder with hypochondriasis. That means excessive preoccupation with own health. When minor illness seems very big. You have to take antianxiety antidepressant medications such as SSRI selective seretonin reuptake inhibitor. Side by side you have to do yoga. Pranayam.meditation regularly. Focus on positive sides of your life. Delete negative thoughts. It is very much normal to have physical illness. But do not let it rule over you. Afterall none of us will escape alive at the end! so enjoy the moments. Take supportive medicines.

In ayurveda, Hypertension is referred to as Rakta Capa Vriddhi and it sees the vitiation of vata and pitta doshas as the main cause. Mix 1 teaspoon of onion juice with an equal amount of honey. Take once a day for 1 week. Upon noticing improvement, continue for several more days. Take sarpgandha vati twice a day. Yogendra ras. Akik bhasm works very good in case of hypertension. Avoid salty diet. Oily food. Lower your stress. Do pranayama early morning.
