Back Pain

Back Pain

DOCTOR ADVISED BED REST FOR BACK PAIN ?

THE PROCEDURES BED REST

Sometimes a back problem is too inflamed for exercises to start. When this is the case, the ideal approach is to rest in bed with medication, doing hours of exercises throughout the day.Bed rest simply means going tobed, which is usually hard to do. The adjustment in people’s lives is never easy and invariably you think there must be an easier way. But to do it properly you simply must rest.

Furthermore, you have to give yourself over to the notion of doing nothing, with an attitude of abandon rather than frustration, otherwise you will get nowhere. With cases of severe inflammation, there can be a build-up of treatment soreness which mimics the original pain. If the condition is chronic, the increase in pain is tolerable, but if the segment is acutely inflamed, it will seem as if the treatment has made you worse. Bed rest lets the dust settle. The peaceful periods between the hard work let the inflammation subside and allow your back to recuperate so therapy can go on.

Bed rest also eliminates the compression of gravity, which,as a first measure, starts the un-jamming of the spinal link. This first step usually makes the worst of the pain start to fade. Apart from relieving the local engorgement of the problem link, the horizontal resting eases the spasm of the spinal muscles. As they relax, the pain eases as the circulation picks up.

There is better natural sluicing of toxic inflammatory products away from the local nerve endings and the pain is no longer ever-present. As the protective spasm eases, the restorative process gathers pace.

I am 23 years old Male. I have been suffering from neck shoulder pain radiating to the fingers of my right hand since 8 months. I am not able to grip objects firmly. Also the the pain is tingling and continuous and increases drastically during night. Sometimes the hand goes completely numb during night. I have applied volitra gel and also used traction but it's not helping. Kindly help as it's becoming annoying and unbearable.

You need to consult a spine surgeon. The arm pain radiating down the fingers with weakness is probably due to a disc prolapse.

I had a partial lateral menisectomy done in my right knee for posterior horn tear three months back. Is there any possible way to find out as to how much part of the lateral meniscus I have lost due to this menisectomy. My post operative MRI suggests lateral meniscus as appears to be normal.

After removal of meniscus it is most unlikely that it will grow again mri is the only solution to rule out the size of meniscus.

General 10 Health Tips For Women

BHMS, MD - Homoeopathy
Homeopath, Lucknow
General 10 Health Tips For Women

1. Zap your stress.-
'The biggest issue I see in most of my patients
Is that they have too much stress. Stress can have significant
Health consequences, from infertility to higher
Risks of depression, anxiety, and heart disease.
Find the stress-reduction method that works for
You and stick with it'

2. Stop dieting.-
'Eating healthy doesn't mean you have to forget
Your favorite glass of wine or a piece of
Chocolate cake now and then. The key is
Moderation. Get a mix of lean proteins, healthy
Fats, smart carbs, and fiber'

3. Don't take too much calcium.-
'Too much absorbed calcium can increase the
Risk of kidney stones and may even increase the
Risk of heart disease. If you're under 50, shoot
For 1, 000 milligrams per day, while over-50
Women should be getting 1, 200 milligrams per
Day mainly through diet -- about three servings
Of calcium-rich foods such as milk, salmon, and
Almonds'

4. Do more than cardio.-
'Women need a mix of cardio and resistance or
Weight-bearing exercise at least three to five
Times a week to help prevent osteoporosis,
Heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Exercise
Also promotes good self-image, which is really
Important to a woman's mental health'

5. Think about fertility.-
Your birth control options
'While many women have no problem getting
Pregnant in their late 30s and even into their
Early 40s, a woman's fertility may start to
Decline as early as 32. So if you want to have
Kids, talk to your doctor first.'

6. Appreciate birth control.-
'Birth control gets a bad rap, but not only can it
Keep you from getting pregnant before you're
Ready, studies show it can lower the risk of
Uterine and ovarian cancer as well as regulate
Your cycle'

7. See your doctor every year.-
'Make sure you get a pap test to check for
Cervical cancer every 3 years if you are 21 or
Older. If you are 30-65, you can get both a pap
Test and hpv test every 5 years. Older than that,
You may be able to stop testing if your doctor
Says you are low risk. If you are sexually active
And have a higher risk for stds, get tests for
Chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis yearly. Take
An hiv test at least once, more frequently if
You're at risk. Don't skip your yearly checkup.
Your doctor needs to annually assess many
Other issues such as potential infection, your
Need for contraception, and sexual complaints'

8. Have good sex.-
'Sex reduces stress and may lower the risk of
Chronic disease -- but only if you enjoy it. If
Anything prevents you from sexual fulfillment,
Such as dryness or pain, talk to your doctor to
Find a solution'

9. Get more sleep.-
'Sleep needs differ, but if you have trouble
Getting out of bed, tire easily, or have trouble
Concentrating, you likely aren't getting enough.
Recent studies suggest this can put you at
Greater risk of heart disease and psychological
Problems'

10. Consider genetic testing.-
'Doctors can now screen people with a family
History of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and
Chronic diseases to assess their risk -- and
Then consider preventive measures. Talk to your
Doctor'

My age is 23 and weight 56kg. There is difficulty to gain weight. Please suggest me medicine for weight gain.
Hi lybrate-user to gain weight you need to combine a balanced eating pattern with regular physical activity. You should be eating at least 6 small meals a day, rather than sticking to 3 square meals. You could divide it as 3 main meals and 3 snacks. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. Space out snacks during the day so you don't spoil your appetite. Bread, cereal, rice, whole wheat, dalia and pasta: biscuits, and corn-bread are good sources of carbohydrates. Fruits: dried fruits, fruit nectars, and large quantities of fresh fruits vegetables: include, potatoes, peas, corn in your diet. Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts: beef, pork, lamb, poultry, salmon, omelets, nuts, peanut butter, kidney beans, chickpeas will help you gain weight. Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese: milk, fruited yogurts, hard cheeses, ice cream, puddings, custards, milkshakes. -nuts and seeds make a healthy option for snacks. -roasted channas and peanuts are good -peanut butter on the sandwiches are a great mid-meal choice. -you must know that cereals actually contain some healthy calories. Stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water and other fluids like juices, milk, soups etc, will work in your favour. Do not drink water before a meal and in between the meal as it may make you lose your appetite, thus calorie intake suffers. Sleep: at least 8 hours of sound sleep is a must. Since your body is actually building up muscles, while you rest. Weight gainers have long term side effects.
