Sir My father suffering from high BP last one year his legs and hand getting pains feel like JUM JUM knee pains also ...
This is a general strain due to excessive walking or standing and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes. One time you can do hot water fermentation that would help to reduce the muscle strain.

Hi sir/mam. I am Rahul. Age-26 years. I take chlorthalidone 12.5 mg and my bp is under control. I was thinking about starting with cholecalciferol 400IU daily as a preventive measure for osteoporosis. My question is will vit D3 cause over calcium build up in serum as calcium buildup is a side effect of thiazide diuretics? I was also thinking about starting magnesium glycinate due to its high bioavailability at 100 mg dose. Shall I start with Mg?

The 6 Things that Make You Prone to Heart Diseases the Most

6 Things that make you prone to heart diseases the most

Every year almost 2 lakh people opt for heart surgeries in India; and as of 2015 there were about 30 million people in the country suffered from heart diseases. There are several factors that increase the threat of heart diseases, among which some can be controlled and some can't. On one hand, where factors like being a man, old age, being a woman in the post-menopausal phase of life, and a family history of heart diseases are beyond your control; other risks can be minimized by making some lifestyle changes.

Although natural processes like ageing, which narrow down your arteries and weaken the heart muscles increase the risk of heart diseases here are 7 factors, which dramatically increase your chances of getting heart diseases, while you are still young.

1. Genetic Factors:
If someone in your family is already suffering or has suffered from a heart disease, especially at a young age, it increases your probability of getting a cardiovascular disease.

2. High Levels of Cholesterol in the Blood:
Chances of formation of plaque on the inner walls of the arteries increase with increasing levels of bad (LDL) cholesterol in the blood. This may be a major cause of the heart disease, atherosclerosis, which happens due to accumulation of fatty substances inside the arteries.

3. Smoking:
Smoking causes constriction of your blood vessels and may damage their inner lining due to the effect of nicotine on them. This can put you at high risk of developing atherosclerosis. Moreover, studies suggest that people who smoke are twice as prone to heart attacks in comparison to non-smokers.

4. Hypertension:
If your blood pressure level is usually above normal, it can give rise to thickened arteries, which, in turn, can reduce the passage for the flow of blood through the vessels. This damages your heart health to a large extent and makes you prone to heart diseases.

5. Diabetes:
Uncontrolled diabetes increases your chances of getting a heart attack, especially because diabetes almost goes hand in hand with diabetes and obesity, which are risk factors of heart diseases.

6. Stress:
If you fail to keep your levels of stress and anger in check, they may have a damaging effect on your arteries. This can make way for strokes and heart attacks in the future.

Hello doctor, I want to ask you about blood pressure I am having low blood pressure so can you please tell me that what to do.

MBBS, MD - Community Medicine
General Physician, Jaipur
Depending on the cause of your symptoms, your doctor may tell you to increase your blood pressure by making these simple changes: Eat a diet higher in salt. Drink lots of nonalcoholic fluids/ especially salty drink e.g. salty lassi, salty lemon water, et.c. Limit alcoholic beverages. Drink more fluids during hot weather and while sick with a viral illness, such as a cold or the flu. Get regular exercise to promote blood flow. Be careful when rising from lying down or sitting. To help improve circulation, pump your feet and ankles a few times before standing up. Then proceed slowly. When getting out of bed, sit upright on the edge of the bed for a few minutes before standing. Elevate the head of your bed at night by placing bricks or blocks under the head of bed. Avoid heavy lifting. Avoid straining while on the toilet. Avoid prolonged exposure to hot water, such as hot showers and spas. If you get dizzy, sit down. It may be helpful to keep a chair or stool in the shower in case you need to sit; to help prevent injury, use a nonslip chair or stool designed for use in showers and bath tubs. To avoid problems with low blood pressure and lessen episodes of dizziness after meals, try eating smaller, more frequent meals. Cut back on carbohydrates. Rest after eating. Avoid taking drugs to lower blood pressure before meals. If needed, use elastic support (compression) stockings that cover the calf and thigh. These may help restrict blood flow to the legs, thus keeping more blood in the upper body.

Please get yourself evaluated by a cardiologist to rule out if it is from heart. You may need ECG, echo, lipid profile. If heart evaluation is normal, it may be due to acidity.

I am 35 married male with 76 weight now. My waist 33. No smoking, no drinking. I have sinus tachycardia since years so cardiologist gave me (telmisartan&metoprolol) which taking from 4 years. I had stress test, 2d echo 8 months back which came very normal.(mild mitral valve prolapse only) nowadays since last 2 weeks, I feel ant biting pain below left nipple (2-3 inch below left nipple) andi slap on that point to feel better. Yesterday I had acidic foods in afternoon, and had heavy dinner. I started feeling some pain in middle of chest which was coming often and go, come and go, it was so scary and made me worried if I have some trouble in heart. I went to nearby hosp, who put me on ecg monitor and my heart rate was 110-120. She said heart rate has to reduce and after 1 hour, it stayed between 103-110. I decide to go home, and came back home and took my daily telmisartan & metoprolol pill. Before I go to bed I felt again some pain in mid chest. Pain was not sharp. But it made me worried so decided to get monitored. So got admitted to hospital and she gave me ivy acidity injection. When I admitted at 11: 30, my heart rate was 98 and as at stayed came down and mostly stayed 80-88. Know as I am typing this msg, still on monitor #6: 30 am, heart rate is 73-76. now please guide me, how can I control heart rate? We do not have control how it shd beat? I am thinking if I do not have trouble with heart and because of acidity then why it reached beating 120bpm even when I was trying to calm and stand same almost 2 hours.

Sinus tachycardia is a normal increase in the heart rate. How it happens - The sinoatrial (SA) node - the heart's natural pacemaker - sends out electrical signals faster than usual. The heart rate is fast, but the heart beats properly. Causes of sinus tachycardia - A rapid heartbeat may be your body's response to common conditions such as: Fever Anxiety Some medicinal and street drugs Severe emotional distress Fright Strenuous exercise Other causes but less commonly, it may indicate: Anemia (low blood count) Increased thyroid activity Heart muscle damage from heart attack or heart failure Hemorrhage (severe bleeding) You may be having Palpitations, which are feelings or sensations that your heart is pounding or racing. They can be felt in your chest, throat, or neck. You may Have an unpleasant awareness of your own heartbeat or may Feel like your heart skipped or stopped beats The heart's rhythm may be normal or abnormal when you have palpitations. Palpitations are not serious most of the time. Sensations representing an abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia) may be more serious. Your doctor should consider and treat the cause of sinus tachycardia rather than the condition itself. If your rapid heartbeat is a symptom of a more serious or longer term problem, simply slowing the heart rate without checking for underlying reasons could cause more harm because you are leave the underlying condition untreated. So you need to get a complete evaluation done to find out the cause of your tachycardia and meanwhile we can assume that anxiety is at least an adjunct factor in the picture. So you should start treatment for acidity and anxiety immediate.
