If you have a complete tear - then surgery is the only option as it will prevent early osteoarthritis of the knee joint and other complications.

I have hypo thyroid, gout and palpitations. Please tell.
In hypothyroidism hair fall is a common occurrence. It is usually the last symptom to be corrected after hypothyroidism is fully controlled. When tsh levels are between 3 to 4 milli units, then it is considered as good control. So please check tsh levels and see that those are brought to the expected value. Gout and palpitations are unconnected to hypothyroidism.

Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful Do hot fomentation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5 days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Dear Lybrate user, Welcome to Lybrate. Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. Nicotine and other chemicals can cause cancer of different types and areas. Throat cancer, mouth cancer, lung cancer, stomach cancer and brain problems can result. Over and above smoking may also increase the risk factor of heart attack and brain stroke. Please quit smoking. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. If you’re ready to stop smoking and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from nicotine addiction and abuse—no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating nicotine addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn’t easy. But it’s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should then consult a psychiatrist / psychologist who fill follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of smoking. Therefore, you need to stick to the treatment plan and cooperate with your psychiatrist / psychologist. Mind power building therapy, motivation therapy etc should help you doing so. Take care.

I have a joint pain often. My calcium count is low. What could be the relation between the two.

I have a joint pain often. My calcium count is low. What could be the relation between the two.
* calcium acts as a natural tranquillizer in our bodies. It has a calming effect on our nerves which in turn has a calming effect on our muscles and joints helping to reduce chronic pain. * the greatest function of calcium in the body is its work with phosphorus to build and maintain healthy strong bones. * muscle cramps, joint pain and an overall feeling of discomfort are actually the signs of a calcium deficiency. * apart from getting more calcium from food or supplements, simple lifestyle changes like quitting smoking, and incorporating weight bearing exercises can help to protect your bones and joints. Regards!

Try the tips:: 1. Ensuring proper evacuation of bowels. Constipation should be avoided at all cost. Include ghee in your diet. 2. Applying heat on affected areas will help to relieve pain and stiffness. 3. Take light foods and avoid excess oily foods and curds. 4. Avoid day sleeping. 5. Yoga asanas such as Pawana muktasana, Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, Paschimottanasana, Vakrasana are beneficial for this disease. 6. I am 62 I am having swollen foot for past one months on my right leg and it already comes for me earlier and I am having asthma problem and till now I have not had any cardiac problem I am using action-or tab as pain tablet as per doctor suggestion.

MS - Orthopaedics

Hello sir, foot swelling can be due to multiple causes. For a person of your age, causes related to organ systems have to be ruled out which your physician will be the best person to do it. I would also require more details regarding the swelling, like is there any pain what are the relieving factors was there any injury You can get back to me with these details so I can come up with an interim solution.
