Most of the side effects when using this early abortion option are caused by the second medication, misoprostol. Side-effects may include heavy bleeding, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and heavy cramping. Vaginal bleeding with medical abortion could be extremely heavy. Mifepristone blocks the hormone progesterone needed to maintain the pregnancy. Because this hormone is blocked, the uterine lining begins to shed, the cervix begins to soften and bleeding may occur. With the later addition of the second medication, misoprostol, the uterus contracts and the pregnancy is usually expelled within 6 to 8 hours. Aftercare a follow-up exam is scheduled for two weeks later to make sure the process is complete. If you have not yet miscarried, we will perform a aspiration abortion. A very small percentage (5%) of women do not pass the pregnancy tissue and need a suction procedure to complete the process. Dear lybrate user, get blood sugar studies done, if not done earlier. Diabetes is one of the important causes for this. Local examination by gynaecologist and ultrasound of lower abdomen are likely to give additional information in this regard.

I have missed my periods and I am 5 days overdue. I took a HPT on the morning of day 4. It came out negative. I have never missed my periods (I am 33 years old). I am getting period like cramps through the day. It feels like they will start but nothing happens. I am not sure if I should worry (can it be something besides pregnancy?) since the cramps do not seem to be stopping. Or was it too early to do a HPT.

It was not too early but sometimes hpt works if done a little late. Repeat it again in two days. If it still turns out to be negative then there seems to be little possibility of conception. In that case wait for one more cycle. If your periods continue to be irregular for more than two cycles you should be visiting a doctor. For now I do not see a cause for concern. Periods can get delayed due to various factors like lack of sleep, overwork, stress, sudden climate changes etc.

Welcome lybr user, one thing I want to say that all these products contain synthetic ingredients, high sugars, and preservatives, so do not use such type of products. You can use original milk and milk products like cheese, paneer, curd, etcwith dry fruits like almonds, cashewnuts, kismis etc. Further if you need to help, you r most welcome. Thanku.

Calcium is very important for growing babies, but moms have to be careful how they get their calcium from dairy. Raw milk is not recommended for expecting mothers. Raw milk is unpasteurized. That means it has not been heated to kill bacteria that could make you ill.

With the intercourse on 13 th, pregnancy test will come positive only on 2nd april if you r pregnant. So there is no point in doing the test now. So wait till that time. If you do not get menses by then, then you should do urine test. Also taking menstrual tablets will not bring menses if your pregnant. Sometimes because of hormonal changes, menses can get delayed.

Heavy Bleeding- A Sign of Adenomyosis

Heavy Bleeding- A Sign of Adenomyosis

Adenomyosis is a condition which occurs when the muscle wall of the uterus is broken by the endometrium lining. You experience pressure in the lower abdomen, menstrual cramps and bloating, before the onset of menstrual periods, resulting in heavy bleeding during the periods. This disorder is not life threatening but is known to cause pain and heavy bleeding.

Symptoms-

The symptoms of adenomyosis are severe pain during periods, prolonged periods and pressure in the abdominal area. You may also experience heavy bleeding during the periods and may also experience intense pain. Sex may be very painful as well. The lower abdomen might feel tender and bigger; this occurs when the size of the uterus increases in this particular condition.

Causes-

The exact cause of this disorder is not yet ascertained. However, certain possible causes could be:

  1. Congenital Defect: In this case, the condition is known to occur from birth wherein the endometrial tissue grows on the uterine muscle wall during the fetus formation.
  2. Invasive Growth of Tissues: This is said to occur when endometrial cells invade the uterus lining, leading to adenomyosis. This can also be triggered by a C-section operation.
  3. Inflammation During Childbirth: During the childbirth process, inflammation may occur in the lining of the uterus leading to this disorder.

In addition to the possible cause, there are certain risk factors which increase the risks of the disorder, such as:

  1. Aging

  2. Giving birth to a child

  3. Surgery related to the uterus such as a C-section

Treatment-

Once you reach menopause, this disorder tends to subside. So depending on how close you are to menopause, the treatment is designed accordingly. The various treatments for adenomyosis are –

  1. Anti-inflammatory Medications: If you are nearing menopause, then anti-inflammatory medications will be administered. This helps in reducing pain and the heavy blood flow.

  2. Hormone Medications: Hormone medications such as hormone patches can also help with the bleeding and pain.

  3. Hysterectomy: If the pain turns intense, then the doctor may recommend hysterectomy, a surgery to remove the uterus. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

I-pill taken immediately is most effective. You need to wait for another week for your menses to come and before you take pregnancy test. I-pill if taken within 24 hrs if 95% effective. On second day it is 85% effective.

Bleeding upto 7 days is normal if flow is not excessive. But if it is more than 7 days or with excessive flow and passage of clots, it needs to be investigated.
