How could we stop the heart attack in case of emergency is there any medicine to stop it.

MBBS, MD-General Medicine, DM - Cardiology

How could we stop the heart attack in case of emergency is there any medicine to stop it.
In case of emergency best thing to do is rush to a nearby hospital if someone has heart attack. Although dos and donots are there but the problem is correct diagnosis and hence decission can not be taken by a non medical person. Many people report with noncardiac chest pain thinking as heart attack, which is acceptable. But many also ignore serious chest pain and try to manage with home remedies which is dangerous.

Congestive Heart Failure - Factors that Make it Fatal

Congestive Heart Failure - Factors that Make it Fatal

Our survival is solely reliant on the working of the heart. It is this that makes the prospect of a heart failure so fatal and so terrifying. Notwithstanding what the heart evokes, a heart failure is not indicative of a defunct heart; but only a situation when the heart pumps weaker than what is generally deemed as natural. Consequently, the blood flows at a slower rate to the heart and the body that in turn increases pressure in the heart. The oxygen that is produced by the heart in such a scenario is scanty and insufficient for the body.

body responds with its own defense mechanism, as the heart, in an attempt to hold more blood, stretches its chambers. Though this strenuous effort may keep the blood moving, it would gradually and inevitably weary the heart with all the effort. Subsequently, the kidney responds by retaining more salt and fluid in the body. These fluids may accumulate in different parts of the body, mainly in the legs, feet, ankles leading to congestion in the body. This very condition in medical terminology is referred to as congestive heart failure.

Different causes can contribute to the onset of such a fatal condition. Some of them are

  1. Coronary artery disease: In such a condition, the arteries supply insufficient amount of oxygen and blood to the heart. Subsequently, the heart receives scanty amount of nutrients and oxygen.
  2. Heart attack: The sudden, unanticipated blockage of the coronary artery and the ensuing stoppage of the flow of the blood lead to a heart attack. The heart muscles are damaged in such a case and prevent the proper functioning.
  3. Diseases: Though the term may be generic and over expansive, most of the ailments which people suffer from tend to manifest themselves by posing a potential threat to the functioning of the heart. A high blood pressure, kidney disease, even a thyroid disease can cause congestive heart failure.

Every disorder is preceded by certain symptoms, and congestive heart failure is no different. Some of them are

  1. Fatigue: This is one of the most perceptible symptoms of congestive heart failure. One of the earliest premonitions of an impending heart failure is a nagging sense of weariness and lethargy.
  2. Swelling: As the condition is characterized by accumulation and build-up of fluids in various part of the body, swelling is an inevitable symptom of this condition and a clear indication of the ailment.

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult the doctor and ask a free question.

For backache -\ get a mri done to pin point the cause and site of pain. Meanwhile go for ayurveda's panchkarma therapy - we have many option for you - kati basti (specialised panchakarma procedure for backpains), localised massgae with herbal oils, localised medicated steam, pottali massage. Continue these procedures for atleast 15 days. Regular oiling of the joint will improve the lubrication also. These procedures will relax your back muscles and give strength to your nerves and muscles of back. Also start some yogic exercises - tadasana, dhanurasan, halasana along with these therapies. This will greatly help. Please avoid pushing / pulling heavy objects, long sittings, long two-wheeler drives. Although some herbal medicines might also help you but after proper history taking. For that you may consult me privately over lybrate. Please update with your valuable feedback after 15 days.\

Dear lybrate-user, Very often, indigestion related gas or hidden acidity can cause such pains. Also, check your posture, spinal health, sleeping habits and muscular strains. Eat foods rich in proteins and vitamins to improve immunity and inner strength. Regards.

with increasing age, blood carrying pipes I.e. blood vessels become more stiff so there is pressure in arterial wall and pressure rises, (though it varies person to person) so it rises with increasing age, so no permanent cure as no reversal of aging. we have to control it by medication, by dilating arteries otherwise there will be rupture cause stroke, kidney failure hear failure

Hello dear High triglycerides and cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. I am a 47 years female with hypothyroidism (Since 10 years), diabetes (since 3 years) and hypertension. hypothyroidism is due to hashimoto where antibodies are present and presently taking Selenium supplement to reduce antibodies. Taking Eltroxin 125 mcg daily as thyroid replacement. My Diabetes is as such well controlled, my last HbA1c was 6.3% which has increased from 6.1% and I found that my PPBS stays higher especially after breakfast. It goes beyond 200 mg/dl. Sometimes even around 290! I have discovered that same thing if I eat in lunch, PPBS is less around 140-150 or sometimes even less than 120 mg/dl. PPBS after dinner is between the two ranges. I.e. Around 160-180. My main question is whether it is advisable to eliminate wheat and rice completely from the diet to reduce PPBS levels? It is difficult to do that since it is our staple diet and is contained in all items. I am taking Metformin 1 g morning and evening and skip taking Metformin when I avoid dinner. I am also taking Diabecon DS tablet which is shown to reduce FBS and PPBS levels considerably because I confirmed it by stopping it for about 10 days, though I was taking Metformin, my FBS and PPBS levels shoots up like anything. Once I started taking Diabecon DS again, both FBS and PPBS levels reduced considerably. My last fasting insulin was 9.93 and fasting glucose 100 mg/dl gave 1.33 as Insulin resistance and 90% Beta cell function by Homa 2 calculator as found on internet which is widely used to measure IR. Now, people who advocate Low Carbohydrate High Fat diet on diabetes forum, says residual circulating insulin should be reduced for which you need to lower your carbohydrate intake. I was told that fasting insulin should be <5 and if Blood sugar control is difficult with this value, it can be <7 but not more than that as more insulin causes more fat storage and ultimately pancreas are whipped to secrete insulin by some drugs. I was taking Glycomet GP-1 forte once in the morning but was getting hypoglycemia since 6 months due to glimepiride in it which was increasing insulin levels, so stopped taking it and now not getting any hype episodes. It is known from various research sites on internet that Gymnema extract (Meshashringi, Gurmar) is very effective in reducing FBS and PPBS levels, but increase insulin levels. So, is it advisable to take Gymnema extract (Ayurvedic medicine) which helps a lot in reducing FBS and PPBS levels? I am taking Arkamin for hypertension once in the morning. So, my question is, is it necessary to reduce carbohydrate intake to 20% which comes to around 100g of carbs each day? People say, since we diabetics cannot process carbs efficiently, we need to reduce it's consumption to around 100g or less for good diabetic control. What should be ideal PPBS level after meals? And What should be fasting insulin level?

Hi. Erectile dysfunction, often referred to as ed, is characterized by a persistent and recurring inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse. Psychological (like stress and anxiety, poor communication with your partner, unrealistic sexual expectations, negative feelings about non performance, depression), physical and lifestyle (smoking, alcohol and sometimes illicit drugs and medical conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart or thyroid conditions, poor circulation, low testosterone) or neurologic disorders (such as multiple sclerosis or parkinson's disease) issues can all cause ed, as can trauma to nerves and arteries (for example, from prostate surgery). The incidence of erectile dysfunction increases with age, but young men can also experience it. So, will have to find out the exact cause in your case. Medication: take homoeopathic medicine - schwabe's damiaplant/ thrice daily for 4 weeks. Management: regular exercising keeps you fit and healthy, so don't forget to do it. Practice pranayam regularly for half an hour preferably in a garden early in the morning. Not to do these exercises within 4 hours after meals. One can have meals not within 15 minutes after finishing these exercises. These exercises are good for gaining and maintaining good health. Also, practice pelvic floor exercise or kegel exercise, consists of repeatedly contracting and relaxing the muscles that form part of the pelvic floor. In order to locate your pelvic muscles try to stop and begin the flow of urine as using the bathroom. You can perform kegel exercises with the empty bladder as exercising pelvic muscle with the full bladder might result in urinary tract infections. Erectile.
