I think I suffer from depression and ocd at the same time always feeling suicidal and hopeless I do not knw how to get out of this :(

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Depression medication may be the most advertised treatment for depression, but that doesn’t mean it is the most effective. Depression is not just about a chemical imbalance in the brain. Medication may help relieve some of the symptoms of moderate and severe depression, but it doesn’t cure the underlying problem, and it’s usually not a long-term solution. Antidepressant medications also come with side effects and safety concerns, and withdrawal can be very difficult. If you're considering whether antidepressant medication is right for you, ask privately for prescription as we are not allowed to prescribe in questions session If you are taking medication for depression, don’t ignore other treatments. Lifestyle changes and therapy not only help speed recovery from depression, but also provide skills to help prevent a recurrence.

Hi, I think excessive gymming is creating the problem as you are exessively stretching yourself. Are you taking proper nutrition? I would suggest you to slow down your gym exercise and replace half of it by jogging or brisk walking. You are getting addicted to gym. Drink lots of water and have lots of salad. Have a good sleep too.

About a year ago i had a breakup, since then i have been suffering from depression, or so I presume, i have consulted counselors, tried everything possible to feel better, right from going out with friends, to eating healthy, taking adequate amount of sleep and whatever I could possibly do, however, i somehow have not been able to cope up with this,i still feel very low, i get zoned out, do not feel like doing anything, i just have developed a very gloomy attitude towards life. Please Help!

It is then established that this breakup was the cause. And you have tried most of what we would recommend to get out of this state. So, I won?t waste time on those considerations. I am going to wager a guess, and if I am completely off the mark, kindly excuse me. However, you can write again and clarify where I have gone wrong. So, here goes: I think that you may have had a poor relationship with your primary caretaker (your mom and sometimes father, though the later happens at a little later age) in early childhood and you are suffering from some dependency issues, which will concern trust, and acceptance needs. As a result you may have gotten into a symbiosis with your boyfriend trying to re-establish that failed relationship, somehow looking to resolve it. It won?t work because it is the wrong person and the relationship is based on a romantic one, with completely different agendas. If the other person is in the know of this need, he may perhaps help you fulfill that need but it will still have some major drawbacks in the actual working out of it. In that case, you will inadvertently become too clingy, controlling, demanding and tend to act in a regressed manner or even act with silly behaviors. Makes any sense? If this does, go and meet with a counselor and work out these unresolved childhood needs before venturing into a romantic relationship.

Anxiety is a very normal emotion, which gives rise to feelings of nervousness every now and then. An anxiety disorder is a serious medical condition in which people experience a high degree of distress and mental trauma, which causes difficulties in leading a normal life. People suffering from this medical condition experience high levels of anxiety and nervousness almost all the time. Here are the symptoms that indicate you're suffering from anxiety disorder. 1. Excessive worry - This condition persists if you worry about the day to day activities a bit too much on a regular basis. It is identified when you start taking too much stress about very petty things, which tends to affect you in an adverse manner. A noticeable sign of excessive worry can be too much fatigue. 2. Sleep problems - Problems falling asleep at the right time and problems in maintaining a sound sleep are two signs that indicate you have an anxiety disorder. 3. Irrational fears - This symptom is not generalized; instead, it is specific and subjective in relation to a particular thing or situation. The fears that are experienced under this category are sudden and unexpected in nature and there is no fixed rationale behind these fears. 4. Muscle tension - Muscle discomfort and pain is one of the leading physiological causes of an anxiety disorder. The pain felt is chronic and pervasive, and is very common among people facing situations of anxiety. If you are exposed to constant periods of anxiety, you will experience fatigue, muscle pains and unwillingness to work. 5. Chronic indigestion - Problems related to the digestive system are also a sign of anxiety disorder. In this case, you may face constant digestive problems accompanied by a common disorder called IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). IBS refers to an anxiety situation in the digestive tract, which is characterized by stomach aches, cramping, bloating, gas, constipation, and/or diarrhea. Apart from the above-mentioned symptoms, other symptoms of an anxiety disorder include stage fright, self- consciousness, panic attacks, memory flashbacks, perfectionism, compulsive behaviors, self- doubt, and such others. But id you have serious problem you may see a psychiatrist and discuss.

One year ago you were into your late teens. This is the time old childhood issues will resurface for the last time seeking a resolution. You must go and meet with a counselor immediately and if that person advises that you meet with a doctor you must do so and cooperate to your utmost. Please visit these professionals along with your parents. In the meantime please do the following sincerely because you could resolve the problem better with good cooperation: Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least, 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive every day and learn to be contented with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do calisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved.

I recently read that researchers believe certain foods might cure Alzheimer’s disease. Is this true? If so, which foods do this and how much would you have to consume to get the benefits?

Hello , yes this is true certain foods can help in improving Alzheimer's disease. To reduce Alzheimer's risk, focus on healthy fats. Get plenty of omega-3 fats. Evidence suggests that the DHA found in omega-3 fatty acids may help prevent Alzheimer's disease and dementia by reducing beta-amyloid plaques. Food sources include cold-water fish such as salmon, tuna, trout, mackerel, and sardines. Here are few foods you should add into your diet that can help improve your mind:- Green leafy vegetables, Cruciferous vegetables like Broccoli, cauliflower,Beans and legumes.Whole grains, Berries and cherries,Pumpkin, squash, asparagus, tomatoes, carrots and beets.Omega 3s. Hello sir my aged 18 I prepare for competitive exams but nowadays many hours I fall sleeping (approximately 9-10 h) ...
Eat a light diet - eat more of fruits and salads, avoid fried and oily foods. Drink a lot of water and exercise daily for 45mins-1hr. This will make you more active, alert and help you concentrate. Write your GOAL on a sheet of paper and put it where it is always visible. Memory is related to understanding -Therefore, 1. Always emphasize comprehension (understanding the topic) rather than cramming. 2. Divide task into smaller chunks - make points - ask your self the basic questions - What was there in the topic, Who did what , When, Where, Why and How? If you are able to answer these questions , you will generally remember it for long. 3. Revise the points orally before sleeping. 4. Keep yourself well hydrated- have water before sitting down to study. 5. Stop studying if you feel you can't understand- Take a short break for 10 mins, have a glass of water, stretch and get back to studying Set your targets for the next day before sleeping - and give yourself a suggestion that you are fresh after 6 hours of sleep.

Dear sir I want to know about weed is good for human body or bad and what's the negative affects on human body because sometimes during smoking weed some people's are facing memory's loss and bla bla and am regularly trying to convince my friends to avoid smoking weed but thy are telling me that you don't know smoking weed is good for health and it avoids cancer and alts for diseases so please give me complete details.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd

That is a lot of hype. Yes, it is true that it does help with some medical conditions as a treatment measure. People are mistakenly taking that to mean that weed is completely harmless. That is far from the truth. Here are the facts and feel free to share this with your friends: If you know it is harmful why would you want to play with it? The obsession and compulsive use is when you become addicted to the substance. Just for your information here’s what WebMD has to say: ‘No matter how it gets into your system, it affects almost every organ in your body, and your nervous system and immune system, too. When you smoke pot, your body absorbs THC right away. (If you eat baked goods or another item, it may take much longer for your body to absorb THC, because it has to break down in your stomach before it enters your bloodstream). You may notice changes in your body right after you smoke. The effects usually stop after 3 or 4 hours. Smoking pot can increase your heart rate by as much as two times for up to 3 hours. That’s why some people have a heart attack right after they use marijuana. It can increase bleeding, lower blood pressure, and affect your blood sugar, too. We don’t yet know if marijuana is linked to higher odds of getting lung cancer. But the process does irritate your lungs -- which is why regular pot smokers are more likely to have an ongoing cough and to have lung-related health problems like chest colds and lung infections. Other physical effects of marijuana include: •Dizziness •Shallow breathing •Red eyes and dilated pupils •Dry mouth •Increased appetite •Slowed reaction time (If you drive after using marijuana, your risk of being in a car accident more than doubles.) If you’re a long-time user, you can have physical withdrawal symptoms -- like cravings, irritability, sleeplessness, and less appetite -- when you stop.’ It being a hallucinogen, it can lead to hallucinations and even a phenomenon called ‘cross hallucinations’ i. E. For example, you can see sounds and hear colors!
