I am in confusion. I don't know what to do. I have two kids. My doesn't love me and his kids also. He won't spend time with family. He always want to spend with others expect with us. If he is in home he will be with mobile and laptop. He will not leave mobile for sec. He carries mobile Even he go to toilet. He always hold mobile and will be doing in mobile. He won't even speak for 5 mins with love to me. And he is so lazy. I have to do everything for him. Only bath he will do by his own other than that I have to do everything. He treats me like servant. I don't mind doing that if he show love on me. But he won't. I really want to die but I can't because I have kids they are two young and I can't imagine them with out me because definitely my husband will not take care of them if I die. And I can't go away from him with my kids. Because I don't have any assets to look after them. But if I stay like this I will go mad. Please suggest me what to do. Depression is a very common emotion you might have experienced at least once during your lifetime. Depression refers to a state of mind when you are feeling low due to persistent sadness and loss of interest. But if the depression is chronic and long lasting for you, then it indicates that you are suffering from clinical depression. Under clinical depression, it is preferable that you go through a proper treatment course by a certified therapist. The Most common types of depressions are:
- Major depression - Under this type of a depression you will be depressed for most days of the week and if this condition extends for a period greater than 2 weeks, then it is a case of major depression. The most common method to treat a major depression is to talk to a mental health specialist and take medications called antidepressants (only after a prescription by a certified doctor).
- Persistent depressive disorder - This is a more severe and long lasting type of depression which is identified if you are depressed over a period longer than 2 hours. The most common symptoms of this type of a disorder are - change in your appetite, too much or too little sleep, lack of energy or fatigue, low self-esteem, trouble concentrating or making decisions, feeling hopeless among others.
- Bipolar disorder - If you are experiencing extreme ups and downs of mood abruptly and without any apparent reason, then you might be suffering from this disorder. This disorder is commonly known as a maniac depression, because during an up phase you will be extremely happy, joyful outgoing and talkative but during the low phase you will be sad, tired and depressed.
- Seasonal affective disorder - This type of a depression might bother you only during the winter season. This happens whenever the days are shorter and your body is not able to get enough of sunlight. This mostly happens in the case of people who are very fond of sunlight, and they prefer the sunshine over dark periods of the night. This disorder is treated by SAD antidepressants and everyday light therapy of 15 to 20 minutes.
- Psychotic depression - Under this type of a depression, you will have a major depression along with some psychotic symptoms like - hallucinations, delusions, and paranoia. Hallucinations mean viewing things that are not there, in reality, delusions are false beliefs or misconceptions and paranoia is the constant fear that somebody is going to harm you. Non-pharmacological management of hypertension is indicated in individuals who are prehypertensive. Prehypertension is systolic blood pressure between 120 to 139 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure between 80 to 89 mmHg. These patients should be trying with lifestyle modification for at least three months before starting medications.
Great importance is being given to lifestyle modifications, because of definite benefits observed in patients who follow this. Lifestyle changes have advantages not only in the control of hypertension, but also in the management of dyslipidemia and diabetes.
In a prehypertensive individual, the following things have to be taken care of:
While the major effects of tobacco are in the development of atherosclerotic heart disease, its role in the management of hypertension cannot be forgotten. The pressure effect of tobacco is so strong that the blood pressure comes down immediately after stoppage of smoking.Tobacco is one of the agents that induce clustering of risk factors.
2) Body weight:
Lowering of excess body weight can lower blood pressure. In one of the studies, it was found that decrease of 1 kg of body weight is associated with an average fall of 1.6 mmHg. Indeed, in many instances, it would be possible to discontinue medications after effective weight control.
3) Dietary Sodium:
Restriction of dietary sodium is one of the most useful methods of controlling hypertension. This fact should be emphasized, because of the increasing use of fast foods, which have high salt content. It is admitted that it cannot be achieved easily. Norman Kaplan, a renowned cardiologist, gives the following practical suggestions.
Do not add salt during cooking or at the table. Sodium consumption should be less than 1500 mg per day, an average individual consumes 8 to 10 times more sodium than required.
If salt is desired, add half sodium and half potassium chloride preparations.Avoid fast foods.
Be careful about the sodium content of some medications and specifically read the labels indicating sodium content in your food.
Alcohol consumption of more than 30 mL of ethanol is found to increase blood pressure. Hence, moderation is recommended. One of the major hazards of drinking is the usual associated consumption of high salt savories, which is an unseen source of salt. Instead, use less salted food.
Regular physical exercise has been found to induce reduction in blood pressure. Strenuous exercise should be done 45 minutes a day for at least six days a week.
6) Relaxation techniques:
There have been various reports as to the efficacy of yoga, transcendental meditation, etc., but none of these were accepted on the basis of statistical studies. However, it is widely accepted that relaxation techniques along with other reduction in risk factors do definitely decrease the incidence of cardiovascular complications.
