I do masturbation and it made my life in trouble I don't know how to control it please guide me hot to stop it I was ...
Hi, Before you make an attempt to stop masturbating, there’s an important issue to deal with first. This issue is important because masturbation is a misunderstood addiction. Masturbation is normal and not unhealthy. It only becomes a problem when one gets addicted to it and it starts affecting his functioning in different areas of his life. You can not suffer physically or mentally because of masturbation but you can suffer because of the thoughts or stress you take as a result of being addicted to it. The immense pleasure derived from frequent masturbation can be extremely addictive. However, this addiction can become an obsessive activity that interferes with daily living. Furthermore, it may result in loss of sex drive, depression, or even impotence. To prevent these potentially severe side effects, we will reveal the ten most effective ways to end chronic masturbation. 1. Rubber band Place a rubber band around your wrist. Every time you get the urge to masturbate, flick the rubber band. This will eventually condition you to associate masturbation with the pain, thereby deterring you from the act. The mere thought of masturbation may even cease to cross your mind. 2. Distraction When you get the urge to masturbate, quickly engage in an alternative activity. Whether you pick up a book or go to the movies with friends, participate in anything that will successfully distract you from your masturbatory desires. 3. Therapy Do not hesitate to admit that you need professional help. Therapists offer beneficial coping mechanisms to help overcome chronic masturbation. Beyond recommending daily tools to break the habit, they also provide a supportive environment for open communication. 4. Help from loved ones If you have a romantic partner, be open with them about your condition. This should remove any feelings of guilt or shame associated with chronic masturbation, as you will no longer have to hide a "dirty little secret" from your loved one. 5. Replace that pleasure with a different one Find other pleasurable activities that bring you joy. Find an enjoyable hobby that requires your full attention. For example, if you enjoy art take a painting class. 6. Jogging Jogging and other forms of exercise are a great way to take masturbation off your mind. Jogging will require your complete attention - from listening to your heartbeat to inhaling each new breath of fresh air. Masturbation will have no place on the forefront of your mind. So the more you engage in exercise, the less time you will have to think about masturbating. Eventually, you may be able to overcome your addiction. 7. Yoga Yoga is an extremely relaxing activity. It requires you to concentrate solely on breathing and posture. This newfound focus should prevent obsessive thoughts about masturbation. 8. Evaluate your life Analyze your life. Determine what makes you happy and what does not. You may find that something stressful in your life is causing this chronic masturbation. Elucidating the underlying stressor will enable you to resolve it, ultimately allowing you to overcome the addiction. 9. A new friend If your chronic masturbation is due to intimacy issues, consider purchasing a pet as a therapeutic measure. They will accept you for who you are without judgment. They will provide you the companionship you may need to stop masturbating. 10. Speed dating This is an alternative solution to intimacy problems. Speed dating is a fun way to get to know a diverse range of potential romantic partners, without the added pressure of traditional dating. This can be a fun and effective way to ultimately acquire a new girlfriend or boyfriend, which may therefore reduce your reliance on masturbation. There are so many enjoyable activities that you will miss out on if you don't overcome chronic masturbation, so hopefully this article has provided you the necessary tools to do so. Always remember the key is self control. consult for more query.

Thanks for the information. Some loss of memory is accetable when we age. Daily brisk walking, meditation and deep breathing exercises are very useful for good functioning of brain. You can also solve some puzzles that come in newspapers or magazines. Playing chess with a friend is a helpful strategy. Keeping a calendar near your bedside with important events marked is helpful. You can also start maintaing diary and write notes of all your activity.

Doctor says I have simple schizophrenia, I need to confirm. I am currently taking levosulpiride, Clox (brand name) and omega 3,6,9 tabs. According to these information, what mental disorder or not I have?

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Guwahati
If you have doubt in your mind regarding your diagnosis, get yourself re-evaluated by a Psychiatrist, who will make the proper diagnosis based on your mental status examination & psychological test like Psycho-diagnostic evaluation. & if you are diagnosed to be suffering from a mental disorder, it will be best for you to accept the fact that you are suffering from the disorder, stay under regular supervision of your attending doctor, & adhere to treatment. Educate yourself adequately regarding the diagnosed illness, its symptoms etc. & if any doubt regarding the illness or its treatment come to your mind, always discuss with your attending doctor &/or family member, & do not take any decision alone. There are treatments available for mental disorders & a person with such disorders can lead a normal life on treatment. Along with, lead an active life, eat healthy diet, sleep adequately & stay away from substances of abuse like alcohol, tobacco etc. & stay positive about life. If it is difficult for you to accept the illness or you are not able to cope with it, then you can go for counseling sessions.

Its very common to have suicidal ideas while you are depressed. This is time you must go to a psychiatrist and take medications. Simple advice won't be useful at this level. Mr. lybrate-user it is quiet natural for any person who is stressed out due to various reasons to have mood swings like what you are experiencing. You will do well with doing relaxation exercises and yoga. Try to do swimming, play music which can help. Avoid smoking, alcohol and excessive caffeine which can worsen your problem. Try to stay with family and friends and go out rather than trying to stay alone. Go to parks have a walk and if possible take a short break from work and spend time with your loved ones which usually will help. Even after doing all these activities you feel to experience symptoms it is high time for you to consult a psychiatrist.

Hi lybrate-user, feeling down or blue is a natural part of life. People let us down, things go wrong, we lose people we love or the dreams we've valued. When feeling down stretches over weeks or months, is occurring frequently and interfering with your ability to interact with people and enjoy your life, it is likely that you're experiencing some form of depression. Provided that you're able to access information and have a good doctor and support network around you, even severe depression is a highly treatable condition. Along with medication psychotherapy from psychologist is a important adjunct. Firstly, you will have to make few lifestyle changes: sleep well. Sleep is essential to a healthy, balanced body. Lack of sleep can aggravate negative thinking and easily becomes a vicious cycle whereby your negative thoughts keep you awake and disable your ability to get enough sleep. Waking unrefreshed and feeling tired is a common complaint during depression, and even too much sleep can leave depressed persons feeling tired. Breaking this cycle requires enforcing a strict sleep routine of the same bedtime and waking time every day, avoiding caffeine and alcohol, not exercising three hours prior to bed, removing anything distracting from your bedroom, and keeping your room at a suitable temperature. Exercise releases a natural anti-depressant chemical in your brain and gets you into doing something active. Start small with a simple walk to the local store or around the block, or to your garden gate might be the way to begin. Gradually work up to a routine that fits with your needs and enjoyment. Lastly, I feel you should take psychotherapy from psychologist. Your negative thinking can be modified through cognitive behavior therapy. All the best.

Speaking of phones May cause memory loss? And please tell me the reasons and controls.

DPM, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Mumbai
There is a term called'digital amnesia' it refers to the reduced use of our memory due to over dependence on digital technology. As everything is available on finger tips today, people don't make efforts to remember numbers, appointments, names, etc. Less use of any function of the body can definitely lead to its weakness. However the damage is not permanent or irreversible. Memory exercises can help a lot. Another thing to acknowledge is that digital media create a lot of distractions in our day to day life. This again interferes with our memory by reducing our attention, making us less efficient. Some time away from phones, tabs and computers is definitely recommend on a daily basis.

Dear lybrate-user, the problem which you have shared here is psychological in nature. When you are facing such kind of difficulties, it must be difficult for you to focus, understand and think in a clear manner. As a result, avoidance is another behavioral consequence. For anxiety, you must systematically desensitize yourself and expose to situations when you are doing signature or writing and at the same time change your cognitions/ thought patterns in a positive manner. Like if you feel people would notice me and make judgments while writing something on paper, then you may replace these thoughts with" I should concentrate more on the task at hand and ignore anxious thoughts. For this also, I would suggest you to consult a clinical psychologist who can help you overcome it and understand the problem in depth.

I have thyroid and all time I'm trouble with pain in my body. Can you help me how can I control my thyroid?

BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Bangalore
I have thyroid and all time I'm trouble with pain in my body. Can you help me how can I control my thyroid?
I believe its Hypothyroidism. If yes then following physical activities will help you relieve Pain and Control Thyroid: * 20 to 60 minutes of near-daily aerobics — really any exercise that gets your heart pumping — can help speed up your metabolism and counter weight gain, a common hypothyroidism symptom and a contributor to joint pain. * But if you have joint or knee pain, choose low-impact aerobics. Go for the elliptical over the treadmill to avoid pounding knee pain. * A stationary bike at the gym is also easier on the knees. * Swimming is the ideal low-impact aerobic exercise — the water buoys your body and cushions joints.

You have to take your father for rehabilitation. You have to keep patience and give strength and support to your father. In rehabilitation centres they will care for all about medication, health and basic body needs like food, nutrition etc. Be positive and prepare him for there.
