Sir I had a knee injury while playing badminton in College 3-4 months back, for which I had been diagnosed by a doctor for which my X-ray doesn't show any problem to my knee. But since then I am facing problems while walking or doing any activity. So please advice me or allow me get this problem of mine to you.

Hello,if the x-ray is clear, that means you dont have any bony injury...but there may be some soft tissue injury in the knee joint which can only be seen in MRI or get a proper examination of your knee from an orthopedic to know what is the exact problem.In the meanwhile just avoid exerting your knee a lot,wear a knee support and avoid doing any exercises like squatting,lifting etc.ALSO take precautions like cross legged sitting ,climbing stairs up and down,using of indian toilet.Do icing 3-4 times a day and keep your leg elevated.

There can be compression of nerve at some level of the spine or disc bulge,better would be to get yourself examined by a dcotor..in the mean while rest as much as you can ,apply some volini gel,dont massage that area,you can wear a LS belt to give support to the back..avoid bending forward and lifting heavy weights or 'exercising for few days.Do ice compression Don't sleep on hard surface or floor.

Hello Sir I am 50 years old woman my weight is 50 kg. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis since last one year. As written on prescription OA knee. Doc wrote me rejoint and Vit D3 for three months. Which I had regularly. My knee pain is not very severe though. Kindly advice me If I need to take rejoint and vit D3 regularly or should I stop it after using it for three months? How to prevent further damage to the knee Sir? I do regular walking and quite active. Thank you Sir.

If your vit D level is within n normal limit then no need to take more supplements, so get the blood test repeated for the same and keep vit D level normal by sitting in sunlight for 10-15 min everyday, take milk, egg yolks, mushrooms. Besides that you should be doing knee strengthening exercise everyday after consulting a physiotherapist. Also omega 3 is good for joints. Can take fish, avocado,nuts for that.

I came from gym, then after shower when I was about to wear shorts and raised my left leg, I felt pain in my lower back (upper buttock centre portion. I am not able to bend forward, it pains when I try to Bend forward. What could be the problem? At gym I didn't felt any pain. But when I came home and after shower I felt the pain. Please help. You could have injured your back unknowingly at the time of exercise,may be due to wrong posture or not lifted any weight correctly..so there could be a minor bulge in the disc or soft tissue injury.Best would be to avoid exercising for a week,rest as much as you can and dont take any massages,avoid lifting any heavy weight,don't bend forward or sit unsupported.Do ice compress to the painful area 3-4 times a day,can apply some nise gel.If it doesnt help consult a doctor.

It's difficult to actually comment without examining that what could be the cause of the pain. But in general to increase the pumping action in calf muscles, you can do calf stretching everyday. Also do ankle toe movements, like sitting on a chair or lying down on the bed move your ankle up, down,rotate clockwise and anticlockwise, once in a day preferably before going to sleep do this exercise: lie on your back, keep pillows under your ankle ,calf and knee such that your legs are at an angle of 45 degree and then continue with ankle movements as descibed above for about 10-15 min.

Its always good to use oil within the limit for one's body type. Also the type of oil to be chosen depends on whether you want to loose or gain weight. As per your body statistics I think you need to gain weight. If so, its better to use home made ghee or pure ghee for your food. Also the oil that you mentioned is ok. But avoid deep fried food in that oil. Double refined oil can be used in such cases.

You seem to have acute back pain, that could be due to unknown minor trauma to the disc, causing disc bulge. Or you could be having some renal issues (kidney stone maybe) in that case you should be taking rest for few days and avoid doing any heavy physical work, avoid forward bending, lifting heavy weights, drink lots of water, more than 3 litres a day .Get yourself checked by a GP. General physician.

Ideally to know whether a person is a diabetic or not blood sugar levels have to be checked after 12 hours of fasting (preferably in the morning) that is called as fasting sugar levels and after 2 hours of meal that is called as PP. If the sugar levels in these 2 tests are above normal then there are chances that a person is diabetic. Sugar levels checked anytime of the day are random and doesn't give the exact picture to diagnose a diabetic patient.

Joint pain can be due to lot many reasons, most common being the early degenerative changes in the joint causing arthritis. Symptoms can be pain, swelling in the joint, locking in the joint. If these symptoms are present then better to consult a doctor and take physiotherapy treatment to bring the pain down.in the long run exercises to strengthen the muscles around that joint need to be done for better management of pain and mobility. Also better would be to rest and keep the knee joint supported (in a brace etc) avoid climbing stairs up and down, avoid squatting on the ground and using indian toilets.

Hello! I am doing workout at GYM and Training each muscle everyday.[ Biceps, Chest, triceps, bench press, super set and legs too ]. 3 sets × 10 reps of all these everyday. You should not be doing weight training for all the muscles everyday, cos after lifting weight, muscle breaks down and then protein helps to re build the muscle and each muscle group needs 48 hours to recover so you can divide your workout accordingly in such a way that there is a gap of 48 hours to workout the same muscle. You should do weight training in order to gain weight only 3 times a week and followed by protein shake after every workout session. Other than this a balanced healthy diet is very important which can be planned as per your body tye to get the maximum benefit. Contact shape and strength in kolkata if interested.

There is no short cut to weight gain. Infact gaining weight is more difficult in general as compared to weight loss but its not impossible if tried in a proper planned and scientific way. Firslty you shold have a proper balanced meals through out the day not only increasing the protein in the diet also start calming exercises like yoga, meditation 3 times a day along with strength training 2-3 times a week!

Why Nuts Should be Soaked Overnight?

Soaking helps to get rid of phytic acid and neutralising enzyme inhibitors so enabling easy digestion.Add a little salt while soaking the nuts,it will help neutralise the enzymes better.It also removes dust residue and tannins.Water of soaked nuts should not be used for cooking as it contains harmful substances.

Is olive oil suitable for cooking Indian food? Also, I'm not aware of any brand of coconut oil available for cooking purposes. Pl guide if something is available. Looking forward to your guidance on both these queries.

Well, olive oil is good for salad dressing, should not be used for deep frying. Sunflower,coconut and mustard oil have a good heat endurance and can be used for deep frying. So the choice of oil must be customised for the food you are looking at cooking. Nutiva (organic) coconut oil can be used for cooking.

There could be tightness of the calf muscles and ankle also...so exercise regularly..do .ankle toe movement up and down,sideways,circling clockwise and anti clockwise 20 times each,and also do stretching of the calf muscles.Aslo remember not to weat shoes that is too tight and flat.If it doesn't help then consult a doctor.

Your bmi is 16.38. Which shows you are underweight, to be called as ideal body weight bmi should be in between 19-25. So that can be attained only if you put on weight. So start eating healthy balanced diet. Also have heavy snack in between meals, can include fresh fruit shakes, dry fruit shakes in your diet, eat every 2-3 hrs. Also you can start with weight training exercises 2-3 times a week under supevision.

You can loose weight by choosing any form of exercise or sport which you like but above all you need to follow a healthy balanced diet that will help you to loose weight (kilograms) exercise gives you more of inch loss than weight loss! since you have to loose a lot of weight its very important to get a diet suitable for your body type. Start with power yoga and brisk walk atleast 4-5 times a week!

Well, weight loss will not happen only by exercising, diet plays a very important role in loosing weight as well as in changing body composition. To get the maximum benefit, diet should be customised as per persons need and body type. In general the best result can be achieved by doing exercises/brisk walk and diet to loose in inches as well as in kilogram. Simple tips like cut down all sugar, eat more fruits and veggies, have complex carbohydrate, avoid refined flour etc.
