Ovulation Induction

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MBBS

Ovulation Induction

Ovulation induction

It suits women who are producing low levels of hormones for ovulation, or who are not ovulating at all. These females are given medication (as tablets or through injections) to stimulate there hormones.
How does Ovulation Induction work?

First, we’ll confirm your ovulation cycle by:

  • Taking blood samples to measure hormone levels at specific stages of the cycle,
  • Carrying out a transvaginal ultrasound to see the development of follicles in the ovaries, and the thickness and appearance of the lining of the womb.

The Ovulation Induction cycle

Day 1: (of your menstrual cycle) Call the clinic to arrange an appointment for a blood test.

Day 2-4: Start taking medication.

Day 10 or 11: Visit the clinic for a blood test to determine your hormone level. /an ultrasound.

Day 14: (approximate) Attend the clinic for an ultrasound test.  This will determine if you are about to ovulate.
For women who don’t have a normal menstrual cycle, it may take some time to ovulate. In fact, it is not unusual for ovulation to occur much later in their cycle (after Day 14). You would then need to continue attending the clinic until you ovulate.

There are various treatments to treat ovulation disorders.

These medications may cause multiple follicle development, with the risk of multiple pregnancy. For this reason you need to undergo regular ultrasounds to determine the number and rate of growth of these follicles. If more than one follicle develops, your fertility specialist will discuss the risks of multifollicular ovulation.

After the follicle has developed we may use another injection of synthetic human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) to trigger the release of the egg from the follicle. The fertile time is for 36 hours from the time of trigger.

Red Vs White Wine - Which One Is Good For Your Health?

Red Vs White Wine - Which One Is Good For Your Health?

Wine lovers have a difficult time answering this question to others, red or white, as both have their share of points when a comparison is being drawn between the two. Too many researches have been undertaken to make a choice and the following are some points that might help you decide.

Some popular white wines include Champagne, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Chenin Blanc. Popular red wines include Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Merlot, and Sangiovese.

White wine is made from white grapes, without any skin or seeds. Red wines are made from whole dark red or black grapes, and the skin adds to the flavour and colour. Red wines are richer, white ones are sweeter.

Though wine lovers would decide on red or white wine depending on their preferred taste, from a health point of view, red wine wins over white wine. Though they are both made of grapes, they do not provide any benefit like fruits. Through fermentation, their original nutrition is lost but newer benefits towards heart and lung health settle in.

Read on to know more:

  1. Red wines have less natural sugar compared to white wines, though there is no significant difference in terms of carbohydrates or calories.
  2. Both have equal amounts of calcium, which is good for bones.
  3. Red wine has more amount of iron, phosphorus, and magnesium compared to the white variety.
  4. Red wine has as much potassium as in a banana, so beats the white variety again.
  5. Carotenoids like lutein and zeaxanthin are found in good amounts in the red variety, which is good for macular degeneration.
  6. Red wine also is richer in choline, which prevents liver damage and overall inflammation.
  7. Red wines, with the skin as well, contain resveratrol which is protective against heart disease. They prevent plaque formation in the arteries, improve the immune system, and inhibit cancer growth.
  8. The polyphenol in them are excellent antioxidants and help in preventing cholesterol levels, reducing blood pressure, strengthening the immune system, are anti-infective and anticancer agents.
  9. The flavonoids in the red wines also have strong antioxidant properties and help in reducing the risk of cancer.
  10. White wines are more acidic, and so are proven to cause more erosion of the teeth. Red is safer, with less damage to the teeth.

Though white is sweeter, the red one is healthier. With its benefits over the white variety is almost all aspects, it wins over. A word of caution, though wine contains alcohol, which has its own harmful effects on the body. The debate here is only to prove that red wine has more benefits compared to the white variety when consumed in moderate amounts (up to 2 drinks per week). If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian-nutritionist.

Mix castor oil and a little amount of baking soda until you make a paste. Place the paste on the surface of the mole. Leave the paste on the mole for a few hours. The paste will dry after a few hours. This can be done about twice every day.

Is Penis Fracture A Reality?

Is Penis Fracture A Reality?

It is not a myth but an actual condition that might happen when it is erect and experiences a certain amount of force. However, since this organ doesn't contain actual bones, the effect of its fracture differs from that of an arm or leg fracture. ?

What is penis fracture?
Penis fracture is a condition where an erect penis suffers a fracture. An erect penis is filled with blood, in this condition, if it is bent forcefully or suddenly, it can suffer a fracture. The penis consists of two large cylinders and one smaller cylinder; during erection blood rushes to the two larger cylinders inflating them thus turning the penis hard and erect. In this state, if it faces a sudden force it can cause damage to the penis.
The symptoms of penis fracture are-
1. A popping or cracking sound in case of sudden trauma
2. Loss of erection almost immediately
3. Feeling of pain in the affected area
4. Bruising of the area
5. In some cases the urethra can get damaged, causing blood to come out of it
In the case of penis fracture, one should seek medical advice immediately. If the condition is not treated then it can result in severe complications. A physical exam followed by exams like MRI or urethrogram are used to diagnose the problem. Surgery is mostly recommended to repair the penis after the diagnosis and it should not be delayed for long. In case the surgery is delayed, scarring occurs and it can result in erectile dysfunction. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Sexologist.

I am 21 years old male. I masturbate since I was 13-14 years. I guess, I have masturbated once a day since then. I had an active sex life only last year. And from this year's july, I have been experiencing loss of hardness/erection. Although I get an "loose erection, it does not last more than 1-2 mins. I used smoke and drink alcohol from year- 2014 to 2015 (1 year). I workout at least 4 times a week. Do I need to relax and expect my recovery the way I am living? If not, what measures (with no side effects) should I take? Thank you.

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns, MASTURBATION IT the release of semen from your penis. Semen is made up of fluid and sperm. Many guys masturbate. In fact, one study of 15- and 16-year-olds found that 75% of boys said they masturbated. There are many myths IS ASORT OF SEXUAL PRACTICE NOT ONLY HUMANS BUT ALSO SEEN IN ANIMALS ALSO, IS PERFORMED When- you masturbate, you release sexual tension. You'll have what's called an ejaculation. Ejaculation is about masturbation. For example, some people say it will stunt your growth. But there is nothing wrong with doing it as long as it doesn't become a constant desire or get in the way of other things you want or need to do. See you r overdoing, means not normal. Its addiction not normal, try to control, by will power, make a schedule of masturbation first, stick to it. When you plan to masturbate, But if you have a little extra time, “edging”—also called the stop-and-start method—can help you achieve more intense orgasms, I promise. Work yourself right up to the edge of ejaculation and then take a short break—just enough time for your erection to soften a bit. Then start the process over again. Do this three or four times before you orgasm, and you’ll experience more profound, powerful ejaculations, will make you more satisfied ,hence you feel not to masturbate too often, avoid situation provoking you to masturbate, as being alone, watching porn, reading erotic’s, do physical exercise, be more active in social life, If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
