Keep away Rabies with only 4 Doses of Vaccine !

MBBS, MD - Community Medicine
General Physician, Jaipur
Keep away Rabies with only 4 Doses of Vaccine !
Globally, 55, 000 people die every year due to rabies. Sixty per cent of these are children (below 15 years). India contributes with 20, 000 deaths every year.
* dog bites should be taken seriously especially when it is a stray dog or an unvaccinated dog.
* children are, by far, the most common victims of dog bites and are far more likely to be severely injured.
* most dog bites affecting young children occur during everyday activities and while interacting with familiar dogs.
* senior citizens are the second most common dog bite victims.
* wash the wound with soap and running water as soon as possible.
* victims of bites by suspected rabid dogs should report immediately to the nearest health facility.
* it is absolutely necessary to follow up the wound cleansing with vaccination within a few hours after contact with a suspect rabid animal.
* to prevent rabies, four to five doses of anti-rabies vaccine are administered on the 0, 3, 7, 14 and 28 days of a bite.
* most human deaths occur in the absence of post-exposure prophylaxis.
* rabies is almost always fatal once the clinical symptoms appear.

Hi, I'm a 21 year old male, I suffer form chest congestion form time to time, my doctor had prescribed me a mild inhaler (the type used by asthma patients) because it would help . But I I had no luck finding it in any drug store . Eventually I misplaced the prescription and I do not remember the name/type of inhaler it was . Could you possibly tell me what inhaler I should use for this purposes? Thank you.

Endocrinologist, Delhi
You can have mild inhalers like asthalin which doesn't have steroids. But, I would suggest that you check out your prescribing doctor before taking them.

How could I know suffer from allergy or asthma, I. Am always sneezing very much and always keep the cold.

BHMS
Homeopath, Navi Mumbai
How could I know suffer from allergy or asthma, I. Am always sneezing very much and always keep the cold.
Prolonged or frequent sneezing points to an allergen /pollen cause or an intrinsic response to the external causative or irritating agent. Or it can be a part of a upper respiratory tract infection .Long standing colds often are due to formation of nasal polyps which can trigger a cycle of frequent infections. You need to get yourself assessed through a general and a systemic examination, and history and details of your symptoms. Along with that certain blood tests will have to be done to check any changes in the parameters which can make the diagnosis clear. If you have difficulty in breathing or lying down, walking or any exertion or have symptoms of suffocation, breathlessness or productive cough etc, it could be possible that you have asthma.

Dear lybrate-user, there's no scientific evidence of figs reducing intensity or incidence of asthma. But it can surely help smoother bowel movement as an advantage!
