I'm patient of seizure, my Dr. Said after baby I will be all right? Is this truth?

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Nagpur
Pregnancy or child birth does not cure seizures unless, it is the cause behind them. If you had seizure during pregnancy then it is likely that after delivery you may not have seizures.

Sir/maam I am 23 years, I want to quit smoking. I tried many times but failed. I smoke 1 pack or less everyday. Is there any medication to stop smoking? I am 6 ft tall and my weight is 86 kg. Does quitting cigarettes make me gain more weight?

First of all l feel really happy for you guys who have guts to digest the truth that habitual smoking is an addiction and I am very much sure that guys like you although understand the disatrous effectss of habitual smoking but out of their craving or compulsion are unable to do so.But I wll try to figure out a clear picture in front of you and let you decide how to quit this habit as I think you are strong enough to quit this habit as you have a strong mind to accept this addiction. 1.Priyam,you might have started moking 4-5 year back .Just think it yourself that was this the age to start smoking. This Is the age to relish your time, your age, free from all tensions just enjoying your Parents luxuries but you opted the other way, putting yourself into the darkness of fumes,Smoking .You just think how much money of your parents you have wasted till now. 2.Just ssee the poor people around you who cant make up for one time meals.Just think that if you were not ssmoking ,how many of them would you have fed during last 2 years and try to feel that happiness that you must have got and now you are deprived off. 3. Tell your friends, family, and other people you’re close to that you’re trying to quit. They can encourage you to keep going, especially when you’re tempted to light up. I uggest you to join a SUPPORT GROUP of people who have quit smoking by hearing their experiences with you. 4..You can quit. All you need is the proper motivation. Maybe a visit to a pulmonary clinic might help. Take a long look around at the people in the lobby. Many of them are like you (and me), they smoked for years and always had the excuse that it was just too hard to quit. Just think, if you keep lighting up, you can end up just like them. If you really want an eye-opener, go to a hospital and volunteer your services for a month or so. Every time you light up a cigarette, you get one step closer to that for an end. Be strong. You can beat this habit just like millions of people do every year. You just need a stronger reason to quit - at least a stronger reason that the one you use to defend your smoking. Good luck. I know what it feels like to be on both sides of this thing. 5.. It's important for you to reprioritize your spare time that would have been spent smoking. Try a new hobby, get out and & walk/exercise, read ... anything. Remember that cravings only last a couple of minutes. 6.You will have to face the withdrawl effect once you top smoking but if you slowly top this habit by pledging to decrease 1 cigratte every week from your pack, life will be more eay for you.Cigratte quitting will have no impact on your weight but few months after quitting cigrattes you ill feel more energetic and happy. 7.Myself being a homoeopath will prescribe you some very effective homoeopathic medicines along with management for quitting this habit.Consult me.

Headaches bad smell cough in throat without improving after 20 days of antibiotics. You need to undergo two tests first is nasal endoscopy and another is ct scan of paranasal sinuses both will make it clear the cause and line of treatment for your problem.

I'm trying to quit smoking and I'm not able to do it. Please suggest me natural way to quit smoking.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Only by using strong will power and avoiding all situations where you feel like smoking, chewing tobacco or drinking or using drugs avoiding friends who smoke and diverting mind by reading or chewing a gum, like NICORETTE and taking a walk when you crave for a smoke can all help. You can chew Nicorette gum which is nicotine replacement. There are medicines available. Which can be prescribed if asked personally Cigarette smoking is a leading preventable cause of mortality. It kills more than 60 lakh people worldwide every year. More than 50% of regular smokers would invariably die from tobacco-related illnesses which includes heart attack, cancer or asthmatic lung diseases. Best age to stop smoking is before 40

Suddenly lost hearing in my left ear a few hours ago. Feels like it needs popping, but it won't. I don't have any other symptoms apart from a very slight cold. Anyone know what this could be.

MS - ENT, MBBS
ENT Specialist, Bangalore
It's an emergency. Consult an ent surgeon. Get your hearing assessment done. (pta and tymapnometry) if it shows loss of hearing due to sensorineural hearing loss, you have to be started on high dose steroids and antiviral medications. Don't neglect this. First 48 hours is very crucial in any case of sudden hearing loss.

Hi lybrate-user, start your day with a fresh juicy fruit. Good on stomach. Breakfast should be wholesome. Eat every 2 hours. Main meal options are roti-sabzi-dahi, rice-dal-sabzi, khichdi-dahi, etc. Workout 150 minutes a week, that's like thrice a week. Even though food is free in office, stay off junk that comes out of the packaged products including chips, sodas and juices. Stay hydrated. All the best and keep progressing on your fitness journey! hope this helps.

I have a weight of 98 kg and have a height of 178 cm. Every one is saying I have over weight. Do I need to worry.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
You have to reduce weight to around 80 k g. Weight reduction you need to have a diet and exercise plan based on your bmi, age & weight and sex, presence of any diseases. There are exercises specific for each part of body like hips, thighs or abdomen. Comprehensive exercise & diet plan based on whether vegetarian /non vegetarian can be given. May also need to do some tests. In brief, weight reduction can be achieved only by reducing the intake of food 1/3 of what you take now. And by appropriate exercise plans for each part like belly, thighs, legs etc. To burn off fat. Some tips : 1) drink three or four cups of water whenever you feel hungry and just before eating food 2) take boiled or raw vegetable like cucumber, carrot etc. As half of your diet. Then take 1/4 of your total diet as sprouted pulses / proteinaceous food like roti, cooked pulses and remaining with rice or other carbohydrates. Oil or ghee etc. Should be just bare minimum. The most important is to burn off the energy intake by exercises. There is no short cut or medicines without exercise. The food we eat is utilised for our energy needs and the remaining will be stored as fat which leads to obesity. It is better to do some tests.

Is coffee good for health? I drink about 3 cups of black coffee daily will it affect my health?

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Although coffee may have fewer risks compared with benefits, keep in mind that other beverages, such as milk and some fruit juices, contain nutrients that coffee does not. Also, adding cream and sugar to your coffee adds more fat and calories.
