Hi here are 6 ways to gain weight healthily: 1. Eating 5 to 6 meals a day in order to gain weight, start eating 5-6 meals a day by breaking them into parts. Eating a lot at once may cause indigestion if the body fails to absorb all nutrients. Eat in small amounts, even if you are not hungry and there will be an increase in appetite from day to day. The aim should be to have a generously portioned breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as two to three snacks in between. 2. Start weight training if you build your muscles through weight training, it will convert the extra weight into lean body mass and also stimulate your appetite. The extra muscle increases the rate of metabolism. When you start exercising you will often experience extreme muscle soreness but it goes away in 3-5 days. 3. Load up on protein besides weight training, a protein-rich diet can help you gain mass. Eating a meal heavy in protein shortly after finishing exercise can be highly effective in adding extra pounds to your body. However, a diet focused only on lean protein is not helpful. It is important to make sure that your diet has plenty of fat in it. Eat foods rich in protein like cheese, meat, eggs, etc to gain weight in a healthy manner. 4. Workout your entire body a lot of people focus only on training the muscles on their arms, chest and shoulders and this is a grave error. Firstly, it will give you a disproportionate body; and it will make you prone to injuries. Therefore, it's important to work out the entire body for a complete and balanced look. 5. Drink your calories to reach the calorie requirement only by eating may be tough. Drinking milk, milkshakes or protein shakes with little or no sugar can be an effective way to load up on the calorie requirements. 6. Be patient and believe in yourself gaining weight quickly in a healthy manner is unrealistic. Every body type is different and it takes months to gain weight. Living healthy by eating the right diet will increase your strength. It is also important to keep following the routine even if you don't see any gains. Caution: junk food and fried foods must be avoided; although have a tendency to add more fat to your body but are very low in vitamins and minerals which are essentially required to keep you really fit. I work night shifts- 5: 30 pm to 2: 30 am. I have been working nights for over 5 years. After work I travel home which takes 1 hr approx. After reaching home I eat light snack and then I do light work out like brisk walking, jogging and stretching exercises. I am in bed by 6 am. I wake up at 2: 30 pm and I feel tired as though I have not slept. I fight my self at work to stay awake. On my day off, I would wake up bg 3: 30 pm and by 6 pm I am completely exhausted and sleepy. Do I I have a problem.

Dear lybrate user it's really difficult to deal with this constant feelings of self doubt, worry, tension etc. It can really disturb your daily life style. It's good you have asked for solution because this shows that you are ready to bring change in your life style. You can do one thing that sit in a comfortable place, you may take 3 deep breaths and start praying to almighty about your situation. This may help you to relax and reflect upon your and then take pen and paper and you may try noting those thoughts and feelings as they come, without pausing. Increase your appetite by eating more to gain weight. But do it step-by-step and not by stuffing yourself too much at one go. You should take alfafa tonic daily row tsp at a time for one month. Also take butter sugar paste atleast 40 gram supplied on chappati or bread daily. Drink banana shake mango shake daily. Soaked black raisons in the morning you can start.

Dear lybrate-user, As per your weight that you mentioned here, is certainly stating the fact that you're weak. The veggies/juices or milk that you're consuming are very good but you're not taking all the adequate nutrient intake for your body which is complete diet. I would like to suggest you to please introduce more high protein foods in your diet which will promote growth and give strength to the body. You need to have at least 7-8 ounces of meat/fish/poultry or equivalent amount of whole pulses or lentils in case you're vegetarian. At least 4 cups of milk, 2 eggs and 1-2 servings of green leafy/yellow vegetables in a day. Salads and fresh fruits are must. Citrus fruits are good sources of ascorbic acid. Whole grain cereals or breads shall be included for healthy digestion. Additional foods from the fats or sweets group including butter, sugar, desserts Or more of the listed foods above shall be combined to meet the caloric requirements.

Quality of food is more important than quantity, include more of protein rich foods in your diet, if you are a non vegetarian you can take 2 eggs daily along with chicken or fish twice or thrice a week, or if you are a non vegetarian, try to include more of whole pulses such as rajmah, cholae etc in your diet along with paneer. At the same time you can include dry fruits, 2 bananas and at least 500 ml milk per day.

I get tired very fast even when I walk for about five mins continuously What should I do?

Hello. One can increase the stamina by including a well-balanced diet by adding low-fat products, plenty of fruits and vegetables and lean meat. So, increase intake of healthy food (food having anti-oxidants like green vegetables, nuts, salads, fruits, fish, green tea; food rich in calcium like milk & milk products; flaxseeds, poppyseeds), avoid alcohol & smoking, drink lots of water (10-12 glasses per day), take sufficient sleep (6-9hrs per day), avoid taking unnecessary stress/ tension, sports like football, basketball and all other sprinting games will help strengthen your heart so that more oxygen reaches all parts of your body, include cardiovascular exercises like running, swimming, jumping etc. And exercise daily for 30-45 minutes (brisk walk is the best exercise to increase the circulation of the whole body), later you can increase the duration as per your stamina. (do the above slowly and gradually). Medication: take schwabe's alfaalfa tonic and five phos./ thrice a day daily for 4 weeks.

In night, take a bowl of careals (daal, a bowl of salad with chapattis. * in morning, get up early and take awalk for 10-15 minutes and exercise light weight exercises for at least 30 minutes at home or gym. * for proper fitness, proper sleep is very important. So you should sleep for 6-8 hours daily. * avoid soft drinks, western fast food (burgers, french fries, pizza etc. They disturb your digestion. * do meditation daily to calm down your stress level. Do pranayam daily. You can take long and deep breaths atleast for 10 minutes in calm and peaceful environment. * avoid smoking & alcohol drinking completly. * for fastly increase in stamina, take 1/2 teaspoon of ashwagandha powder daily once a day. Dear, you can easily get fitness and health by following simple and very important tips: 1. To get fitness, your digestion should work properly. If you have any disease of digestive system you should treat disease first. For proper digestion - take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after meal. Or take 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper (kali mirch), 1/ 2 tea spoon of jeera (cumin), 2-3 slice of ginger. Boil it in one glass of water for 2-3 minutes. Drink 5-10 teaspoons (15-20 ml) in morning and evening for strong digestive system. Or you can take amla powder 1 teaspoon with water for strong digestion. 2. Take a diet rich with proteins and fats. Both body weight exercises like push ups, pull ups, squats and weight training in the gym is helpful. 5. Stay hydrated. 6. Have a light dinner. 7. Evening walk is always recommended. 8.
