My mother aged 79 years was having trembling hand since 25 years and doctors concluded as non parkinson. Recently apart from trembling hands her jaw also started trembling .Doctors diagnosed as parkinson and they prescribed 1.Syndopa 110 half tablet thrice a day. 2. pacitane 2 mg twice a day 3.lonazep 0.2 mg bed time and 4.Betacap bed time. There was a good improvement in her trembling, but she started talking to herself and behaviour changes. This change occurred only after taking these medicines. Request advice

Hi, This is a very common situation in people suffering from Parkinsonism and you might be correct in assuming the symptoms of talking to herself are due to the medicines. Syndopa actually increases the dopamine levels in your brain which could lead to increase in symptoms like delusions and hallucinations. However if we try to treat the talking to self, this might further decrease dopamine levels and in turn increase trembling and parkinsonian features. So a delicate balance needs to be maintained between the two. This would be best done by a neurologist and psychiatrist working in combination with each other but please do not stop any medication without doctor's advice.

Hi The usual treatment of Depression with medicines lasts for atleast 6-9 months if it's your 1st episode. I would suggest that you consult with a Psychiatrist and undergo an evaluation to identify the type of Depression and take treatment advised for a longer duration as 2 months is hardly enough to give you a full recovery.

The increase in BP could also be due to Anxiety. The medicine clonotril plus contains two medicines whose dose may need to be adjusted or a new medicine may be needed to reduce your anxiety. Kindly constantly with a Psychiatrist for accurate treatment of your anxiety.

Hi The symptoms you describe could be due to a variety of psychiatric problems. You will need to consult with a Psychiatrist to get the exact diagnosis and it is of utmost importance that you get him treated as the paranoia you described can actually get better with treatment and will worsen along with an increase in anger if not treated. Please coerce him to see a psychiatrist at the earliest.

Your sleep is the time your brain gets rest and if the sleep timings are not regular, the brain won't be able to function at full capacity. hence you could have decreased concentration. The weakness also could be due to the same reason. However since you mentioned shivering also, Kindly check your thyroid levels to rule out any thyroid problems causing these symptoms. Thank You and take care.

Respected Madam, I am sorry to hear about your current mental state. From the few symptoms that you mentioned you do seem to have some features suggestive of a Borderline Personality. This would cause you to have an unstable mood, unstable relationships, anger outbursts, recurrent suicidal thoughts, real or imagined feelings of abandonment, impulsivity, etc. However, the same would need to be confirmed after detailed evaluation by a psychiatrist. Hence I would kindly request you to meet with a local psychiatrist at the earliest as he/she can also help you to decide on a treatment plan which may include psychotherapies like Dialetical Behaviour Therapy or Medicines which can help you get better control over your mood. Thank You and Take Care of yourself.

Respected Madam, Depression is a major psychiatric diagnosis of which a depressed mood is only one symptom. Other symptoms include decreased energy, loss of interest in activities, decreased concentration, changes in sleep/appetite/activity levels/weight along with depressive and even suicidal ideas. If you still believe that you are suffering from depression and if you have many of the symptoms mentioned above, the best course of action would be to consult with a local psychiatrist who could evaluate you in detail and confirm your diagnosis. He/she should also be able to treat your current depressive symptoms with medicines or therapy depending on the severity. Thank You Madam and Take Care.

Respected Sir Being anxious and having a heart rate of 168/min is definitely not ok. But since you mentioned that it is your maximum heart rate, it could be nothing as Holter generally measures maximum, minimum and average heart rates in 24 hrs. So if the doctor felt that your average heart rate is fine and there are no variations, you should be fine. However you could try yoga, relaxation exercises or just regular exercises to reduce your anxiety. Also make sure you sleep well and eat a balanced diet. If you still feel you are anxious, kindly consult with a psychiatrist for a detailed evaluation and to get treatment recommendations. Thank you and Take care to remain Stress free.

Hello lybrate-user Good Day to you too. I am very sorry to hear about your current mental state. The reason for you getting "tension in simple things" could be due to an underlying Anxious/Avoidant personality if you have always been like that. This could also explain your decreased confidence n speaking. However if your symptoms have started recently and you have not always been like this, the it could point towards an Anxiety or Depressive Disorder and also various other psychiatric conditions. Hence, to clarify the cause behind your current symptoms, I would advise you to consult with a nearby psychiatrist. Regarding your weight, I would not be too bothered as it seems to be in the ideal range considering your height. Since you are from Calicut, please do feel free to contact me also via text, phone, video or in person for any additional clarifications as I am familiar with your town and language which might make it easier for you too.

Going through a Family, job and financial problems, Depression etc. I am working on several things to start my life all over again. I find that I am not able to use my brain to full potential. I am looking for a medicine/ drug which will help me improve my brain function. Make me mentally so powerful and clear which will help me achieve my goals. All my concern is I want to focus and concentrate on things I want to do and not what happened so far. I really need something to turn my brain into a computer. Can you please suggest? Thank you in advance. Wasim.

Respected Sir, I am very sorry to hear that you have been dealing with a lot of problems but you have to remember that it is a part of Life. Everyone goes through the problems that you have mentioned viz Job, Family, Financial. However, Depression, if not self diagnosed, is not something everyone suffers from. If there was a drug that could turn your brain into a computer, I am pretty sure, in today's competitive world, everyone would be on that drug from the day of their birth. Unfortunately for you, there are no such shortcuts to achieve your goals. Yoga, meditation, relaxation exercises could all help you increase your focus and concentration and maybe even make you "mentally powerful" but these will require a huge amount of input and hard work from your part and will also take time. Apart from these, eating right and getting adequate sleep, having good friends and a supportive family could all eventually help you. So, sorry to disappoint you, but I wish you All the Best in trying to rebuild your life.
