I have a problem my eyes is darling berry red when I drink and drive tell me what I do?
Hello lybrate-user. Regarding your problem, the reason for redness of the eyes is a type of hypersensitivity (allergic reaction). I would advice you not to drive after you drink! strictly. Even better would be to stop drinking! for the time being, I would advice you to use a lubricant eye drop 4-5 times daily along with anti histaminic eye drop. These would act as decongestants and help in resolving your redness. Also, get your blood pressure checked if the redness persists in-spite of using the eye drop. Hope my suggestions are of help. Take care-regards.

There is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 20 years so your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. As you are not comfortable with contact lens then go for lasik. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.

DOMS, MBBS

My eye has become red, and its paining. What should I do? Please help me as fast as possible?
If associated with discharge and pain and redness its acute infective conjunctivitis. Do not. Worry. Put topical eyedrops toba and flur four times a day and tearsubstitute like genteal four times a day in d affected eye. It would be okay in 3 -4 days. Take care of eye hygiene that you yourself/other family members don't share the clothes and hankie of the affected eye to the normal eye else the normal eye wd also contract the infection. You can wash your eyes twice to thrice but not very frequently as it washes away the tear film which naturally contains imp antibacterial and anti infective elements: red eye has many causes. You have to see if it is associated with blurring of vision, pain, discharge and other complaints. But commonly its allergic or infective in origin ie allergic or infective conjunctivitis. Which has simple treatment protocol. But still its wise to see an ophthalmologist for a thorough slit lamp examination to rule out other differentials for acute red eye.

Sir whenever I went to dust, I got allergic. And my upper part of eyes get pain. Why sir?

Sir whenever I went to dust, I got allergic. And my upper part of eyes get pain. Why sir?
Eye allergies are bothered by the same irritants that cause sneezing and a runny nose among seasonal allergy sufferers and are very common among them. The most common airborne allergens that cause eye allergies are pollen, mold, dust and pet dander. They can also be caused by reactions to certain cosmetics or eye drops, including artificial tears used for treating dry eyes that contain preservatives. Take following precautions to get relief: 1) avoid allergens 2) remove the contact lens (if using any) 3) use specific prescribed medicines recommended by your doctor for your eye allergy.

Hello dear there are many causes for redness of eyes mainly allergy, infection, inflammation and dry eyes etc. 1. Redness + itching: allergy 2. Redness + pain+ watering + decreased vision: infection 3. Redness + pain: inflammation 4. Redness+ foreign body sensation: dryness if there is only redness then it is normal as slight exposure to dust, temperature or air or eyes may be red in morning. Stress may also cause redness. I usually do not treat when there is only redness, you can 1. Blink a lot 2. Wash eyes with fresh water 3. Cold compresses 4. Use lubricating eyedrop like flogel these measures will help to keep your eyes healthy but it will not have any effect on redness (treating generalredness alone is not necessary also) having said that you should consult local ophthalmologist for proper examination and treatment.

Hello. Let me enumerate the diet necessary for healthy eyes. (1) green leafy vegetables including spinach, sprouts, cabbage, beetroot. (2) fruits-blue-berries, black-berries, strawberries, raspberries, kiwi fruit, grapes, pineapple, pomegranate, grapes, guava. (3) dry-fruits: almonds, walnuts, apricots, dates. (4) cereals: oats, barley, millets. (5) drink a cup of green tea daily. (6) drink a glass of milk daily. Also. I have a few suggestions for you regarding the usage of computers, mobile phones and books. Follow the rule of" 20" this means that every 20 minutes, take a gap of 20 seconds, blink your eyes actively 20 times and focus at an object which is minimum 20 feet away. This will help in relieving your eyes from the continuous strain that is caused due to staring. Staring at the computer continuously causes us to subconsciously blink less than normal. This causes the tear film on the surface of the eye to dry up. The result of this is pain, discomfort, etc. Another suggestions regarding the usage of computers is to maintain a proper posture. The computer must be positioned at the same height as your eye level. The neck should not be inadvertently flexed or extended. Roughly, an angle of 90 degrees should be maintained between your upper body and thighs. Likewise, a similar angle (90 degrees) should be maintained between your lower legs and thighs. Also the angle between your hands and arms should be roughly 90 degrees. This is the healthy ergonomic way of sitting while using a computer. Maintenance of proper posture would help in further relieving the symptoms of eye discomfort and pain. You could consider preservative free lubricant eye drops 4 to 5 times daily. These eye drops would ensure that your eyes stay well lubricated and fresh. All these suggestions may take a while to sink in and imbibe in your routine. Once followed, they are sure to work wonders for you. Hope my suggestions help you. Take care.

Diet for EYESIGHT Lutein and zeaxanthin are both important nutrients for eye health,6 as both of them are found in high concentrations in your macula—the small central part of your retina responsible for detailed central vision. More specifically, lutein is also found in your macular pigment – known for helping to protect your central vision and aid in blue light absorption—and zeaxanthin is found in your retina.Estimated daily dose of lutein is 10 mg per day, and at 2 mg/day for zeaxanthin. Both lutein and zeaxanthin are primarily found in green leafy vegetables, although zeaxanthin is far scarcer than lutein. Kale and spinach are two of the most lutein-rich foods, but you'll also find it in carrots, squash, and other orange and yellow fruits and vegetables. Both lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids called xanthophylls, which give plants and vegetables their yellow-orange color, and the name "lutein" comes from the Latin word "luteus," which means "yellow." If you remember this, it may help you pick out vegetables that are likely to contain higher amounts of these two nutrients. Egg yolk is another source of both lutein and zeaxanthin that is well absorbed by your body Most of the dark green leafy vegetables, previously recommended for a higher intake of lutein and zeaxanthin, have 15-47 percent of lutein, but a very low content (0-3 percent) of zeaxanthin. study shows that fruits and vegetables of various colors can be consumed to increase dietary intake of lutein and zeaxanthi It is also important to note that lutein is an oil-soluble nutrient, so if you eat the vegetables without some oil or butter your body can't absorb the lutein. Adding a little bit of healthy fat, such as olive oil, coconut oil, or raw organic butter, will maximize your lutein absorption. Lutein content in food Food Mg / serving Orange ( Raw) 0.2/1 large Egg 0.2/1 large Spinach (cooked) 20.4 / 1 cup Papaya(Raw) 0.3/1 large Turnip greens (cooked) 12.2 / 1 cup Green peas (cooked) 4.1 / 1 cup Spinach (raw) 3.7 / 1 cup Corn (cooked) 1.5 / 1 cup Broccoli (raw) 1.3 / 1 cup Broccoli (cooked) 0.8 / 1/2 cup Green beans (cooked) 0.9 / 1 cup Being a homoeopath,i will advise you to undergo homoeopathic treatment as homoeopathic medicine along with exercises aand a diet plan are very effective combination for improving eyesight.consult me

Cataract Myths and Facts

Cataract Myths and Facts

When Sheena (42), a banking professional, got to know that her mother (72) has been diagnosed with a cataract formation in both her eyes, she didn't know how to react. The thought of 'second opinion' was constantly running through her mind, making it difficult for her to concentrate at work, just then an acquaintance informed Sheena about all the misconceptions she had about Cataract Surgery and the treatments available. Probably, for Sheena, Cataract Surgery still meant the way it used to be during her grandparents' time - waiting for surgery until the cataract ripens, the process of undergoing pain, wearing black tinted glasses for over a month, no TV, and endless list of precautions to be followed post operative. Infact, there are numerous people like Sheena who still are ignorant about the Blade-Free Laser Cataract Surgery.

Apart from being blade-less, through this Femtosecond Laser Cataract Surgery, it takes less than 1 minute to finish the surgical process! What's more? Well, this latest technique also offers a totally prick-less, painless, bloodless, stitch-less and a bandage free solution to the patient. And, the results are immediate and effective.

Let's debunk the misinformation about Cataract Surgery and help you get to the truth.

Myth#1 Cataracts 'grow' on top of the eye.

FACT:False! Cataracts are a clouding of the eye's lens, and the lens is within the eye, not on its surface. Therefore, during the surgery, the clouded lens of an eye is removed and replaced with an artificial/synthetic lens with a process called Intraocular Lens (IOL) implantation.

Myth#2 Cataract Surgery is scary and painful.

FACT: Not true. Infact, it is one of the safest surgeries possible. Though it can be slightly uncomfortable but shouldn't be painful. Usually four out of five people say that the surgery was easier than they had expected.

Myth#3 I'll need reading glasses after Cataract Surgery.

Fact: Not necessary! New generation Multifocal and 'monovision' replacement lenses correct vision at various points, near and far, and can sometimes reduce the need for glasses too.

Myth#4 A cataract must be 'ripe' before it can be removed.

FACT: In the past this was true, however, with modern cataract surgery, a cataract does not have to 'ripen' to be removed. You can go ahead with a cataract removal surgery as soon as it begins to affect your vision and quality of life.

Myth#5 Only older people develop cataracts.

FACT: Cataracts are common among people over 65 years of age; however, cataracts can occur in people who are younger resulting from conditions such as diabetes, certain medications and other eye problems. In some cases cataracts can be present at time of birth; called congenital cataracts.

Myth#6 Cataracts can spread from one eye to the other.

FACT: False! Cataracts can develop in one eye or both of them, but they do not spread.
