I am suffering from sore mouth since 10 days and My stomach is also upset because of that what should I do for that.

I am suffering from sore mouth since 10 days and My stomach is also upset because of that what should I do for that.
If the mouth ulcer is causing a lot of pain, gently rub a small ice cube over the spot or rinse your mouth with ice-cold water. You could also chew on a clove bud (lavang) and direct the juice generated to the area where the ulcer is located. Clove buds are a great ingredient to cure sore throat too. To prevent the ulcerated area from getting infected, make it a point to rinse your mouth with a little salt water. Remember, this won’t make the ulcer disappear, but it can help reduce the pain. Honey is a natural humectant. It helps reduce scarring and hastens the process of new tissue growth. This, along with its anti-microbial effect ensures faster healing of the mouth ulcer. Chew a few leaves of tulsi along with some water about three to four times every day. This will help in getting rid of ulcers faster and also have a preventive action against their recurrence. Applying a little coconut oil directly onto the mouth ulcer or chewing some coconut (fresh or dry) helps reduce pain and inflammation and hence, ulcers heal faster. Mix some sugar to crushed khus-khus seeds and consume this mixture for instant relief from ulcers. You could apply a little ghee directly to the ulcerated area, or drink a glass of buttermilk two or three times every day. Mouth ulcers left untreated generally go away in a week or so; with these home remedies, you can expect faster relief. However, if you notice an ulcer in the mouth that is persistently present although it does not cause you any pain, do not neglect it or try to treat it with home remedies beyond a few days. Make it a point to see a doctor soon because often, a painless mouth ulcer is one of the earliest signs of oral cancer.

There is a hole in my a tooth. Some times it starts pain when something goes inside. Can you help me.

MDS, BDS
Dentist, Hyderabad
There is a hole in my a tooth. Some times it starts pain when something goes inside.
Can you help me.
Hole in the tooth means you have tooth infection. Healthy tooth never has a hole. So don't waste time and rush to dentist to get it treated as early as possible. Because if you delay it can go more deeper in the tooth and cause pus formation. Now dentist will put some cement into it and stop further infection.

I have get a crack in my tooth and I got lots of pain, please give me a suitable suggestion.
If the tooth crack is more and it is present in between the teeth if 3/4 th area is lost than it should be removed if it is less than 3/4th area then it can be treated with root canal treatment and crown is placed on it for protection.

My 2 premolar is full of cavity I mean if 2 premolar would be extracted instead of 1 premolar is it possible.

BDS, MDS
Dentist, Gorakhpur
My 2 premolar is full of cavity I mean if 2 premolar would be extracted instead of 1 premolar is it possible.
Yes it is possible and also by root canal treatment both tooth can be saved. It requires a radiograph and an expert oral medicine radiologist to interpret the condition. If loss of tooth structure is beyond its repair, it has to get extracted.

Although excessive saliva is not too common, there are a number of conditions that can cause it - some harmless, others more serious. It is possible that your saliva problems are just a result of the way you are. This may just be what's normal for you. Since it is negatively affecting your life, I suggest your problem can be ignored. What is the best diet to prevent cavities avoid the pain?

BDS, FICOI, MDS
Dentist, Mumbai
What is the best diet to prevent cavities avoid the pain?

Ever wondered what is the best diet to prevent cavities and avoid all that pain at the dentist?

While food is something that no one can do without, there are some of us who eat to live and others who live and love to eat.

The websters dictionary defines a foodie as: a person who enjoys and cares about food very much

The entire diet and nutrition industry has been conjured around this over or under obsession of food. We have the foodies who indulge in delectable delights and then we have the diet junkies who abstain from everything.

No matter which end of the spectrum you belong to foodie or diet junkie you can't deny the importance of your teeth in enjoying your food.

The ability to eat food is something that we easily take for granted up to the point that we are unable to eat due to poor dental or general health. Loss of teeth can have far-reaching effects not only on your face but also on your general health, lifestyle, self-image and mental state.

Impact of tooth loss

    Altered taste sensation
    Inability to chew
    Reduced or increased salivation
    Compromised nutrition
    Gastric disturbances
    Nutritional deficiencies
    Accelerated aging

Can you imagine a world where you couldn't experience the pleasures of eating your favorite food? biting into delicious slices of pizza or that chunk of yummy chocolate or even a juicy piece of chicken for the meat lovers!

While everyone seems to be on a diet of some sort these days here's what we call a dental diet or a few healthy habits that can ensure you maintain your pearlies and prevent cavities and pain till you're around!

Eating for your teeth

Milk and milk products have proven to strengthen teeth, whether at developing stages of dentition or even as we go through life. Cheese, yogurt, and milk in any form are rich sources of calcium which if not included in your diet should be substituted by a calcium supplement.

Chewing healthy

Soft synthetic processed foods reduce the efficiency and health of our teeth in contrast fibrous foods like apples, carrots and celery are all supposed to stimulate gums and teeth to maintain their optimal functions of chewing, shearing, and biting.

Indulging your sweet tooth

Eat all the pastries, chocolates and candy that you want but rinse thoroughly post meals so no remnants of these get stuck in your teeth to prevent cavities. Sweet dishes are the leading cause of cavity development.

Liquid diet

Drink plenty of water to ensure that the food particles get rinsed off your teeth and the acid content in your saliva is kept diluted.

When drinking something sour like colas and lime juice make sure you have it with a straw. Acidic foods can deplete the enamel layer of your teeth causing wear and erosion leading sensitivity

While science and technology have replaced teeth with artificially fixed substitutes through implants and state of the art replacement techniques, even as experts, we recommend prevention is better than cure!

So a shout out to all you foodies, at least for the love of food make sure you look after your teeth or it can be a very bleak and hungry future out there! take precautions and prevent cavities that are so ugly and painful!

Hello sir/madam good evening to you. My problem is my teeth are normal pale yellow many times to wash hardly but not ...
Cause of discoloration ? Smoking, coffee, tea, drugs, aging, staining food (wine, blueberry, etc) genetics. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling and / or capping. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results. DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months. HOME BLEACH FOR THE TEETH Here is home remedy for brighter teeth--- mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply. Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid effecting enamel. If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes. For faster result you can go for teeth bleaching from dentist.

Sensitivity is a big problems if you are facing this problem try to use a sensitive paste for a week and if sensitivity persists then you must visit a dentist. Sensitivity can be due to many reasons like:
a) cervical abrasion which happens due to incorrect brushing technique
b) fractured filling
c) chipped tooth
d) dental caries/cavity
e) using a very hard brush
f) gum recession
g) capping a vital tooth
h) improperly done RCT etc
Try to visit a dentist as soon as possible to rule out the etiology behind sensitivity.
