Hello Doctor, I am 24 year old female. I have some lumps in my both breasts. I did went through multiple tests and found that they are Fibroadenoma. Is it mandatory to go for a surgery and remove them from my body or simply can I just ignore? Thanks in Advance.

Let me clearly tell you that finding a lump in breast can be a scary experience but not all lumps in breast are cancerous. Fibroadenoma is non cancerous. It is usually found in female less than 30 years of age it consists of breast tissue and connective (stromal )tissue while most women have single lump ,10-15 %of women have multiple lumps. If you are diagnosed of fibroadenoma it does not necessarily mean it has to be removed. Depending on your physical symptoms ,family history, and personal concerns you along with your doctor can deciede on wether it should be removed now let me tell you the indications in which fibroadenoma is usually removed 1.if it hinders the natural shape of breast 2.if it causes pain 3.if you are concerned about developing cancer 4.if you have a family history of cancer 5.if you have recieved questionable biopsy results.

Your health indirectly affects your looks, in many ways. Smokers are already aware that they need to quit smoking. It is bad for the heart, lungs and brain.

Well, smoking does damage the way one looks and smokers are four times likely as compared to non-smokers to experience unrest after a sound sleep in the night.

Alcohol is another factor contributing to looking uneasy. Alcohol dehydrates the body, including the skin, which happens to be a major organ of the body.

It happens every time drinks are consumed, drinking too much, results in deprivation of vital vitamins and nutrients from the skin. Over time, drinking heavily has other detrimental effects on the skin.

Rosacea is a skin disorder that has the initial tendency to blush and flush easily and eventually results in facial disfigurement, and is found to be having a link to alcohol.

Alcoholics can also find themselves looking bloated and puffy as a side effect to their habit. One can experience the bloating of the stomach too.

There’s also the cellulite believed to build up with the help of the toxins in alcohol. So drinking and smoking needs to be kicked off if one is under the pressure to look good, and eventually feel good.

De-stressing, relaxing, being happy is the key to feeling and looking good. A change of the routine pace of schedule is good for mental health.

It may differ from a five-minute break from cleaning the house, break from work or a weekend spent in exploring something or a place that is new.

A few minutes relief is needed to de-stress oneself. But, being physically active and fit is also important.

Also indulging in exercise contributes to health and looks. It is, found that people who exercise and are physically active tend to look fresh and younger even as they age.

Thus in order to look healthy and great it is also necessary to feel healthy and great from within. Hence, from now on kick off smoking and drinking, join a gym and eat healthy.

Hello, your chances of getting pregnant are better between the 8th to 18 the day. Where roughly around 14th day ovulation occurs. All this is applicable if your periods are regular. Chances of getting pregnant cannot be predicted accurately because it depends on your ovulation cycle .it may vary in some cases.

The best eating plan if you have PCOS is one that helps you manage your weight and also lower the long term risks of diabetes and heart disease. This plan should be low in saturated fat and high in fibre. Start by making healthy food choices following Canada's Food Guide. Choose better fats: Too much saturated and trans fat in the diet can lead to weight gain, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Limit foods that contain saturated and trans fats. Instead of these bad fats, choose smaller amounts of healthy unsaturated fats, which are found in vegetable oils like canola and olive oil, avocado and nuts. Aim for a total of 30 to 45mL (2 to 3 Tbsp) of healthy fats each day. You can learn more about choosing healthy fats here. Increase fibre: Eating more fibre can help maintain blood sugar levels and lower your cholesterol. Plus, fibre helps make you feel full, so you tend to eat less. This can help with weight control. Aim for 21 to 25 grams per day. Here are some high fibre foods to try: Fruit – especially berries, pears, oranges, figs, kiwi Vegetables – especially peas, spinach, squash and broccoli Whole grains – such as oats, brown rice, whole wheat, quinoa, barley and buckwheat Legumes – such as lentils, chickpeas, soybeans and kidney beans Cereals made with wheat bran, psyllium or whole grain oats Nuts and seeds – such as almonds, flax, sunflower seeds Enjoy protein: Similar to fibre, protein also helps you feel full for longer, so you will eat less. This is a great way to help control your weight. Make sure that you have some protein at every meal and snack like chicken, turkey, beef or fish. Or, try vegetarian options such as legumes, soy or a quarter cup of nuts or seeds. Milk and low fat yogurt are also good sources of protein. Foods to limit: Some foods cause weight gain if you eat them often. Please consult your local gynaec She will advise you certain hormonal and basic blood tests to know her health status and her ovarian reserve. Asemen analysis is also necessary. She will also need to get a follicular monitoring to know whether she's ovulating or not.

Recurrent Pregnancy Loss - Know the Reasons Behind it!

Recurrent pregnancy loss refers to the situation when three consecutive pregnancy loss takes place. A pregnancy loss is a clinically defined pregnancy which ends before twenty weeks.

Causes of recurrent pregnancy loss

  1. Major cases of pregnancy loss occur due to genetic abnormalities and chromosomal abnormalities. The abnormality may occur from the sperm, egg or the early developed embryo.
  2. Recurrent pregnancy loss may occur in a woman due to ascending maternal age. This happens because of poor quality of the egg, which further leads to chromosomal abnormalities. In some cases, the pregnant mother or the father can have some gene irregularities. In such cases, the would-be-born infant is affected, and this causes pregnancy loss or miscarriage.
  3. Uterus abnormalities also lead to recurrent pregnancy loss. This may happen because of poor supply of blood to the uterus. Abnormalities in the uterus are in-born in some women and in others these may develop over time.
  4. Women having a poor immune system are likely to suffer pregnancy loss. Abnormalities in hormone secretion like thyroid or diabetes may also cause pregnancy loss in women.
  5. If a woman suffers from abnormalities in blood clotting, the chances of miscarriage are enhanced.

Testing for recurrent pregnancy loss
Several tests and examinations should be carried out for detection of pregnancy loss. 

  1. Karyotype analysis of the woman and her male partner has to be conducted. Karyotype refers to the genetic or chromosomal constituents of an individual and this test is carried out to detect abnormalities in genes and chromosomes of the parents, which cause miscarriage when passed on to the developing infant.
  2. Another test includes the evaluation of the uterus and the uterine cavity. This is done by ultrasound, saline ultrasound, MRI, hysterosalpingogram X –ray or by hysteroscopy. These tests help to get information on the uterus shape, about fibroid presence, detect abnormalities within the uterus and observe the opening and closing of the tubes. Tests to detect the functioning of hormones are also carried out.

Treatment
The treatment for women with recurrent pregnancy loss depends upon the underlying causes of the pregnancy loss.

  1. In case of patients with karyotypic abnormalities, genetic counselling is recommended, where a specialist is consulted to know about chromosomal abnormalities.
  2. Prenatal genetic studies are carried out by some couples to know about the offspring’s genetic make-up. This is done with chorionic villus sampling or with amniocentesis. A process known as in vitro fertilization (IVF) can be carried out.
  3. In case of uterine abnormalities, a surgery may be performed and medications for reducing blood clot are used if antiphospolipid syndrome is detected.

Recurrent pregnancy loss may happen due to various reasons and proper tests, and treatment procedures should be carried out for curing pregnancy loss. This phenomenon affects a woman and her partner deeply. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

Dear, sex is natural process, you need not to use condom if you do not want to avoid pregnancy. Condom is used just to avoid unwanted pregnancy. This is good if you are faithful to your life partner. You may seek consultation in private if you face any other health problem.

Hi reeba. Lactation does offer contraceptive benefit but that is only till you practice exclusive breastfeeding, i.e. you give baby only your breastmilk. Since by 7 months you most likely aren't following exclusive breastfeeding you could get pregnant. i suggest you get a home pregnancy test and confirm.All the best

I have infertility issue from past 5 years. All the report s are next to normal according to doctor there is no such physical issue. Last doc to go for IUI but PCT was negative at that time and then IUI was not done. As we gone through IUI twice and IVF also was failure. Am completely stressful, what to do where to go. As one of my doc said there is hydro sulpinix so that embryo will not get attached to uterus and not growing so the IVF also failure. She suggest me to go for laparoscopy. 2 times the procedure withheld and the reason according to lapro surgeon was like not required in your case. Last month 3rd dy of my period I was suffering from severe pelvic pain and swollen lower abdomen. Again doc suggest me to go fr lapro and this month also the same pelvis pain with swollen abdomen. I cried like anything. Please help me out and please suggest me when lapro n IVF to be done. Which dy of my period. HSG, AMH is 6.0,PRL 12.43,TSH 3.80 ,progesterone1. 82 may vary monthly ,thyroid, USG report are also normal. Husband's report is also normal. Thank you.

Mam, srry to say, your hydroalpinx, is causing infertility, let me tell you bit clear IVF. Is the way you get conception, but untreated hydrosalpinx have lower conception rates than controls and it has been speculated that the tubal fluid that enters the endometrial cavity alters the local environment or affects the embryo in a detrimental way. Thus, many specialists advocate that prior to an IVF attempt, the hydrosalpinx should be removed. Lower abdominal pain, may be PID.

Multiple tiny follicles spread out throughout the ovary are antral follicles and their numbers indicate good ovarian reserve. In each cycle around the 15th day one follicle has grown sufficiently to ovulate. If there is doubt about ovum quality you can go for amh and fsh tests. Otherwise any gynecologist can give you advice on how to conceive naturally.

Dear Lybrate user, Do Urine pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy first. If negative, repeat the same after few days if the period doesn't come. If stomach ache is in the lower part and/ or severe, consult Gynaecologist.

Today employees working in rotating shift duty at different services across 24 hrs in each week (24/7)is a common work culture phenomena. Being a consultant I found that shift duty as a major cause of some common but persistent health problems. Shift rotating duties may lead to increased degeneration process of the body. If we consider increasing age as a factor along with this, it can lead to serious health problems in some individuals. In addition to this employees take a meal in canteens but its food quality, making methods and nutritional value are different from home. All these factors lead to health problems commonly related to the digestive system and other systems of the body.
Shift duties as risk factors to diseases
1) Cardiovascular disease (heart diseases)
2) Stress, depression
3) Insomnia (no sleep), headache
4) Fatigue
5) Gastrointestinal disorders -acidity, bloating, IBS etc.

Dear lybrate-user if your doctor has advised you hysteroscopy to the find out the cause for endometrial thickness, a polyp or cancer which can be confirmed by sending the tissue for testing. And the treatment will depend on the cause.
