Ayurvedic Detox - This Is How To Get Started!

Ayurvedic Detox - This Is How To Get Started!

According to the Ayurvedic lifestyle, cleansing is an important part. This process of cleansing oneself is known as detoxification. Our environment makes us susceptible to several toxins and we further indulge in processed food which we colloquially call junk food. Our lifestyle has become too full of stress. In the midst of all these, often it becomes necessary to clean the accumulated waste. As detox helps in improving our digestive and immune system and makes our metabolism function well, it need not be emphasised more about a detoxification at regular intervals.

Energy, vitality, and enthusiasm have become quite uncommon in today’s life where the pace has become very fast to cope up with. Detoxification will help induce sleep and have a balanced sleep cycle. There is not much to do but contribute as less as three days only but make sure that you start your detox on Friday so that you get 2 off days as undergoing this process in the middle of the week might trigger disturbances in one's day-to-day routine. Another thing to make sure of is that all the supplies needed for the process are gathered way before the detox is begun. This would ensure that one need not run off to shops to get things that were forgotten to be bought.

The Diet
The diet is a rather simple one with whole grains like oatmeal or any simple carbohydrate and tea. Triphala can be consumed before going to bed. If one is in the habit of consuming caffeine, tobacco, drugs, and the sorts then this process will help in eliminating the usage. Also, Ayurveda insists in getting plenty of water and enough detoxifying drinks like amla juice, lemon green tea, aloe vera juice. The food that is consumed during detoxification is those that can be easily digested so that it strengthens the metabolic fire or the ‘agni’. Diet in detox is crucial as it helps in cleansing the whole body.

The Routine
A perfectly scheduled routine must be followed during the detoxification process. Early to rise and early to bed is the first major point because if this is not followed then sleep might be imbalanced which might hamper the process.

To have a clean and healthy digestive system drinking water in the morning is suggested. Simple morning exercise soothes one's body and relaxes. Have your bath before having your breakfast so that you get ample time in hand and do not have to rush.

Meditation is the next best thing that can be indulged in during this time. Stay away from the mobile phones and be unsocial for three days.

Though we often detox on our own, that is toxins are flushed off from our body on its own but it is not effective most of the time considering the pollution and stress and food habits that we go through. Thus, a detoxification process is required to regain our health, vitality and rejuvenating ourselves for a healthier life and a balanced ‘agni’.

What Is Abhyanga and How It Can Help In Healing?

What Is Abhyanga and How It Can Help In Healing?

While medicine is making advances at a rapid pace, it makes some good sense to pay attention to ancient medicine, especially when it can not only relax a person who is stressed, but also has the potential to heal.

The form of medicine which is being spoken about here is Ayurveda, which has its origins in India and has been practiced for about 5,000 years. According to Ayurveda, over time, stress and toxins accumulate in the body and the way to get rid of them is by having a daily massage, which is known as abhyanga.

In this kind of massage, there is no need for a masseur or masseuse. You can massage yourself with oil. The important thing about abhyanga is that it should be comprehensive and must cover the full body. When it comes to the choice of oil, cured sesame oil works wonders, as do herbal massage oils and aroma massage oils. A good aroma oil is usually a blend of coconut and lavender.

Benefits of Abhyanga Healing-
By practising abhyanga, the lustre of the skin is greatly improved. Once you make abhyanga a part of your daily routine, your skin is bound to attain increased radiance over time.

Apart from giving you a fresh skin, abhyanga also helps in reducing your fatigue levels and as a result of the same, you stamina levels seem to be much higher. All this goes a long way in improving the quality of sleep one has, which yields more productivity during the time you spend working. In short, not only does abhyanga possess the potential to improve one’s health, but also indirectly helps an individual manage his work front better.

Many people are of the opinion that only physically tough exercises can result in an improvement of the muscle tone of the body. However, this is not necessarily true as is proved by abhyanga, which is a great relaxing way to go about improving the tone of the muscles. The nervous system is also done a big favour as a side effect of practising abhyanga. It has a very calming effect on the nerves.

Moreover, there is good news for people who have issues with joints and bones – abhyanga helps improve lubrication in the joints. So, with the power of abhyanga, one can delay the knee replacement, or not even need it, at all!

Last but not the least, abhyanga helps in detoxification of the body as the warm oil massage leads to the removal of toxins from the system.

Obesity - How Ayurvedic Remedies Are Best For It?

Obesity - How Ayurvedic Remedies Are Best For It?

Obesity is a condition characterized by the accumulation of large quantities of fat in the body. This condition drastically increases the risks of health problems. The most important cause for obesity is the intake of larger number of calories than what are usually burned through exercises or other routine activities. One with a BMI (Body Mass Index) more than 25 is considered obese. The primary ways of treating obesity are through exercising regularly and following a healthy diet.

How can Ayurveda help?
Ayurveda is a holistic system of medicine which is free from side effects, unlike conventional methods of treatment. Ayurvedic treatments focus on getting to the root cause of the disorder instead of just focusing on the symptoms. There are multiple remedies in Ayurveda that are effective in controlling obesity. They are:

  1. Restrict your calorie intake: While this may sound easy, it is actually difficult to implement. One of the major reasons for obesity is eating too much. The idea is to avoid overeating, so you need to be aware of your portion size. Eat frequent meals but in smaller quantities; this helps in keeping your metabolic rate elevated, that in turn is a prerequisite for greater fat burning.
  2. Start exercising: Exercise is a great way to burn those extra calories around your middle. The best and simple way to go about it is to start jogging. Low intensity jogging done over a period of time is a great way to burn fat. If you want to gain muscle, then do weight based exercises instead of just doing cardio.
  3. Meditate: The beneficial effects of meditation are well known. Apart from reducing your stress level, it also helps in boosting your focus and concentration. Being stressed can make you eat more and thus gain weight, so meditating on a regular basis can help manage stress effectively.
  4. Get sufficient rest: Sleeping less than 6 hours a day? You are only setting your body for obesity. Not sleeping enough brings about hormonal changes in the body which increase your appetite.
  5. Avoid junk food: Junk food should strictly be avoided as it can make you put on some serious pounds. Instead, opt for healthier food options, but keep in mind the portion sizes.

Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile Dysfunction

Whether you currently suffer from ed or are hoping to sidestep this condition, try these tips to overcome ed for better health and a better sex life.

1-Start walking. Just 30 minutes of walking a day was linked with a 41% drop in risk for ed. Other research suggests that moderate exercise can help restore sexual performance in obese middle-aged men with ed.

2-Eat right. In the massachusetts male aging study, eating a diet rich in natural foods like fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and fish — with fewer red and processed meat and refined grains — decreased the likelihood of ed.

3-Pay attention to your vascular health. High blood pressure, high blood sugar, high cholesterol, and high triglycerides can all damage arteries in the heart (causing heart attack), in the brain (causing stroke), and leading to the penis (causing ed). An expanding waistline also contributes. Check with your doctor to find out whether your vascular system — and thus your heart, brain, and penis — is in good shape or needs a tune-up through lifestyle changes and, if necessary, medications.

4-Size matters, so get slim and stay slim. A trim waistline is one good defense — a man with a 42-inch waist is 50% more likely to have ed than one with a 32-inch waist. Losing weight can help fight erectile dysfunction, so getting to a healthy weight and staying there is another good strategy for avoiding or fixing ed. Obesity raises risks for vascular disease and diabetes, two major causes of ed. And excess fat interferes with several hormones that may be part of the problem as well.

5-Move a muscle, but we're not talking about your biceps. A strong pelvic floor enhances rigidity during erections and helps keep blood from leaving the penis by pressing on a key vein. In a british trial, three months of twice-daily sets of kegel exercises (which strengthen these muscles), combined with biofeedback and advice on lifestyle changes — quitting smoking, losing weight, limiting alcohol — worked far better than just advice on lifestyle changes.

6 Ayurvedic Tips That Can Keep Your Body Healthy!

6 Ayurvedic Tips That Can Keep Your Body Healthy!

Ayurveda is an ancient system of medicine that is holistic in nature. The focus of Ayurvedic treatments is on improving your overall well-being, in addition, to curing the symptoms of the disorder. When it comes to keeping your body healthy, Ayurveda is your best bet. Its holistic nature makes it very potent in improving your body’s immune system so that your body is fighting fit and free of diseases.

Here are some Ayurvedic tips to stay healthy:

  1. Eat healthily: The food you consume plays a vital role in your health. Different foods have different constituents which affect the body in different ways. Include fruits and vegetables in your diet as they contain necessary vitamins and minerals which are required for the body to function properly. Avoid eating junk food that contains hidden sugars and fats as they can wreak havoc on your body’s functioning.
  2. Exercise regularly: Regular exercise has numerous benefits for your body. From keeping your joints healthy to reducing risks of heart diseases, it does wonders for you. Take up a form of cardiovascular exercise such as swimming or running to keep your heart in good shape. Yoga is another form of exercise that is very good for your joints.
  3. Limit stressNothing is as bad for your overall health as stress. It causes chemical changes in the body which make you susceptible to various diseases, both psychological and physiological. Practice relaxation techniques such as meditation as it calms and soothes the mind. Simple breathing techniques are also a good way to combat stress.
  4. Avoid alcohol consumption: Excessive alcohol consumption can increase weight and make you susceptible to diseases such as liver and heart problems.
  5. Avoid smokingLike alcohol, smoking is another habit that you need to quit, if you haven’t already. Smoking causes the blood vessels in the body to narrow, resulting in impaired blood circulation.
  6. Adopt healthier habits: Simple healthy habits such as drinking a cup of lemon juice with warm water in the morning go a long way in keeping you healthy. Lemon is a good source of Vitamin C; consuming it after you wake up provides a boost to your body’s energy levels. Another simple habit you may consider is drinking 2-3 liters of water every day to keep your body hydrated.

I am experiencing tingling and numbness in hands and legs, what may be the reason.
Hi Lybrate user! Tingling in the hands and feet is often associated with other symptoms like pain, burning, or numbness in the hands and feet. These type of sensations commonly reflect damage to the nerves in the area (neuropathy); because these are peripheral areas of the body, the term peripheral neuropathy is used to refer to this type of symptom. Peripheral neuropathy has a number of causes and varies in severity among affected people. Vitamin deficiency, diabetes, and kidney failure are among the medical causes of tingling in the hands and feet due to nerve damage.
