Use nicotine replacement in form of either lozenges or nicotine patch for few weeks, gradually taper it off, you can use anti craving drugs like bupropion or champix later on to reduce your desire to smoke. You should consult a psychiatrist for guidance and counselling.

My brother is suffering from schziophenia, he is 47 years. Biggest challenge is on regular medication and keeping a check that he is having medicine. It becomes very diff and he skips and relapse happens. Can you please suggest medication where the frequency is very less, which is easy to monitor.

There are injections available which is administered once in a month and medications available which can be administered once in a week, for which you should be in touch with a psychiatrist privately.

What do your dreams really tell about you?

Every night, you experience about five dreams that last 15-40 minutes, and these dreams can be entertaining, disturbing or sometimes just plain bizarre. However, whether it's your physical health or mental state, your dreams can really reveal a lot about you. They could help you to get a better understanding of yourself and your life. Checks these facts to know more.

1. Dreams reveal your state of mind

The constructed environment of your dream reveals the frame of mind that you had on the day of your dream or a day before you had the dream.

For instance, certain dreams about your workplace divulge your focus on achievement and activity; on the other hand, a few dreams about school might point to the life lessons you need to learn.

2. They point to your state of health

When you dream, you end up tapping into your subconscious, which uses images captured while you were awake, to communicate the instance.

For example, dreams about a car usually indicate your physical well-being, with the car being a symbol of your body. Just as a car helps you to move from one place to another, your body acts as the vehicle that moves your mind from here to there.

3. They indicate a possible future

Your dreams could also give you an insight into possible situations of the future. Known as precognitive dreams (dreaming of an event before it actually takes place); these dreams shouldn't be looked upon as fixed predictions, but as insight into a possible future. It's up to you as to how you want to use the information that you get from the dream.

4. They highlight your bond with your inner self

If you dream about individuals of different sexes, it highlights the connection that you share with the myriad and diverse parts of yourself. 

While visualizing individuals of the same sex stand for your conscious mind, those of the opposite sex stand for your subconscious mind.

5. They show the change that is taking place in you

Getting a dream about death usually indicates that you're letting go of an aspect of yourself. It shows that you're changing from within. When you have such dreams about death, pay close attention to how it came about and who died. Knowing these could help you to understand the change better and what aspects of you were involved in the process.

6. They help you to solve problems

Dreams can also help you to solve complex problems and come up with solutions that weren't possible when you were awake. Symbols connected to creativity and imagination in dreams highlight the creative task that your mind was involved in the day before. These creative symbols could be movies, paintings, drawings or even tv shows.

Whether your dream was a scary or a funny one, positive or negative, it is an opportunity for you to learn more about your pure self and ponder over the things that your psyche may be telling you.

He seems to have negative symptoms of schizophrenia, you need to be in touch with the treating psychiatrist for optimisation of medicines and psych therapy to address this.

Hi Doctor, I am a 26years old girl and I belong to an orthodox family. My marriage got fixed and we started talking each other and we are in love. On day my fiance told me he had an old relationship during his college time. I told it's ok no problem, later he mentioned they had physical relationship, after hearing this I am really worried, whether to stop this wedding or move forward please suggest.

Hello doctor. I am 20 year old I have faced many negative things in my school life after which I have been suffering from anxiety and mood swing problem. For example if I am talking normally right now and suddenly gets angry or feel like to sit alone. Many a times I hurt my loved ones by doing this. Also I am not able to focus on my studies. Three years back I was given anti depressants bcoz I was depressed bcoz of whatever had happened in past life. Traumatic life events in the child hood, has affected your personality development. From your text it is apparent that you have, emotionally unstable and impulsive personality traits. These people have unexplained mood swings, high rejection sensitivity poor anger control, tendencies of harming themselves. First you should know yourself better, identify the shortcomings (which we all have) and work on it. You should practice more patience, try to react as less you can, regular meditations and breathing pranayama will increase your resilience and decrease anxiety. Take help of professional if you are not able to handle it.

You seems to have social anxiety. You have to practice relaxation exercise like, pranayam, deep breathing exercise regularly to control your anxiety. You should practice self counselling to overcome your negative thoughts. There are drugs which decreases social anxiety significantly.

You need to sit down and discuss your problem with your husband. Try to focus on the issues rather than the behavior. Engage with him when he is calm. Don't try to react when he is angry. Don't compare the days of courtship to your current days. Don't involve third person in the family to solve your problem at the beginning. Try to engage yourself in activities other than child care and house hold activities which will give you happiness.
