Dear Lybrate User, *Spread your workload evenly during the day to avoid highs and lows of stress at work or at home. *Do not sleep excessively, especially during Sunday mornings and holidays. *Do not get too tired. *Eat at regular times, and do not skip meals. *Do not eat or drink anything, you think brings on a headache. *Limit the amount of tea, coffee and painkillers you use. *Watch your posture. Try to keep your neck straight. *Keep your muscles relaxed when you are not physically active. Try not to frown or tighten your jaw. *Restrict your physical activities in hot weather. *Avoid bright or flickering lights, loud noises or strong smells if they trigger headaches for you. *Remember the classic advice; “ati sarvatra varjayeth” or moderation in all things.

Epilepsy is a disorder in what ch a person has a tendency to have recurrent fits and convulsions. In most of the longstanding cases of epilepsy it is idiopathic, that is without any apparent cause. It usually occurs due to uncontrolled electrical activity of brain neurons. In some instances fit smay occur after head injuries, bleeds in brain, infections, electrolyte imbalance, lowered sugars etc. Epilepsy needs management with regular use of medications so as to control recurrent fits. This has to be an individualised treatment. Certain provocative factors like inadequate sleep, physical exhaustion, decreased oxygen in air, fasting, loud noise, scorching sun etc may precipitate fits in a known case of epilepsy. So it is advisable to refrain from such factors. For any further queries or assistance you may consult me online

migrane can be managed with lifestyle changes and medications, try muscle relaxation exercises. Relaxation may help ease the pain of a migraine headache. Get enough sleep, but don't oversleep. Get an adequate amount of sleep each night. It's best to go to bed and wake up at regular times, as well. Rest and relax. If possible, rest in a dark, quiet room when you feel a headache coming on. Place an ice pack wrapped in a cloth on the back of your neck and apply gentle pressure to painful areas on your scalp. It is very important keep a headache diary. Continue keeping your headache diary even after you see doctor. It will help you learn more about what triggers your migraines and what treatment is most effective. A dose of riboflavin in appropriate dose as prescribed by me, also may prevent migraines or reduce the frequency of headaches. Coenzyme q10 supplements may decrease the frequency of migraines, magnesium supplements may also be used to treat migraines do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.
