This sir is most probably due to weakening of bone support and gums.Which is why you are having gaps.I suggest sir that you consult your local dentist for thorough cleaning and oral prophylaxis, check for cavities , use fluoride toothpastes. And mouthwashes. Also regularly please floss your teeth with dental floss.

5 Foods that Ruin Your TEETH Without Your Knowledge, Every Day!

5 Foods that Ruin Your TEETH Without Your Knowledge, Every Day!

5 foods you didn't know were ruining your teeth

Brushing is not the only way to keep your teeth free from damage. To have perfectly healthy and sparkly teeth, you should avoid certain foods as well, especially those high in sugar and acid content.

Fruits rich in sucrose (such as cherries, mangoes and pears) are like food to the bacteria in your mouth. These bacteria give rise to plaque build-up; and produce lactic acid, which causes the erosion of your tooth enamel.

As for foods containing acid (like meat, cashew nuts and peanuts), their acidic content is chiefly responsible for tooth decay. In fact, these foods eat away at your enamel and cause your teeth to chip and break.

Which are the foods that spell danger for your teeth?

1. Apples: sadly, an apple a day doesn't keep the dentist away. Apples have high acidic content and are very harsh on your enamel. Remember to rinse your mouth thoroughly with water just after having apples.

2. Pickles: pickles are either made of sugar or vinegar and can be sweet and sour, depending on what's used. While the vegetables and fruits used in these pickles may do you good, it's the brine that brings about tooth decay. Make sure to brush your teeth after an hour of having pickles to prevent any sort of damage.

3. Bread: processed white bread that you have at breakfast every morning is loaded with sugar. It's quite sticky as well and easily gets lodged between your teeth, giving rise to cavities.

4. Popcorn: working in the same way as bread, popcorn can get easily stuck in the lines between your teeth, leading to a rise in the level of bacteria in your mouth. You can indulge yourself in a bit of popcorn as long as you floss and brush after an hour or two of eating it.

5. Diet sodas: just because sodas contain no added sugar doesn't mean they are healthy for your teeth. The acidity of diet sodas is very high, making it one of the worst things out there for your teeth. The only thing you can do is to cut down your consumption of diet sodas.

I do flossing and mouthwash daily once and brushing twice. Please let me know if this figure is enough for my teeth to last longer without any problem and what time is best to do flossing and mouthwash if I do them only once daily. Thank you.

Hello, Yes this is enough for you to brush twice daily and to use mouthwash also. Flossing is not for regular purposes. You have to limit that and use floss only when there is a food particle in between teeth. Use alcohol free mouthwash after brushing is enough to maintain a good oral health. Also sometimes it is needed to get your teeth cleaned by dentist for complete hygiene of mouth because they can reach at the part of teeth where you can't see. In every year or every 6 months it is recommended for everyone. Regards

a mouth ulcer that does not heal within 2 or 3 weeks should be examined by a health care professional like a dentist, oral physician, oral surgeon/ maxillofacial surgeon). following special investigations may be involved: blood tests (vitamin deficiency, anemia, leukemia, Epstein-Barr virus, HIV infection, diabetes) microbiological swabs (infection), or urinalysis (diabetes) . A biopsy (minor procedure to cut out a small sample of the ulcer to look at under a microscope) , to rule out cancer, but also if a systemic disease is suspected. Ulcers caused by local trauma are painful to touch and sore.

I brush twice times daily but still there is plaque on my teeth. How to clean ig properly so that it looks purely white?

All individuals requires scaling (cleaning) to be done atleast once in 6 months to maintain our oral hygiene clean. Our toothbrush is not much finely designed to clean all the plaque and calculi in the interdental areas of the teeth, which is the area where most of the calculus accumulate much and has to be removed regularly using scalers by the dentist.

I have some sort wounds in under lips. I thought may be it would be a mouth cancer? Please help me to know about mouth cancer and their symptoms?

BDS, MDS, MBA (Healthcare), FAM
Dentist, Hyderabad
Oral cancer symptoms are most of the time dicrectly related to habits like chewing tobacco or smoking, or chronic trauma to the tissues which causes cancer like changes. Very rarely does it arise spontaneously. To give you a correct idea about what the diagnosis is I would like a few more details about the wound you have mentioned (a little detail about the history of the problem) or you could provide a photograph of the lesion/wound.

I can not smile because of yellow teeth just want them not sparking like diamond but normal white.
The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply snowdent paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min. Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

You should go for scaling and polishing your teeth and if required according to doctor advice go for gum (flap) surgery.

Flossing is as important as brushing on a daily basis. Taking the floss all the way down to the point where the teeth and gums meet is the appropriate way of doing it.

I went to a dentist for a toothache problem. I was told that there was a hole which was through the side of the tooth and by doing root canal treatment, the pain would go. I got the root canal treatment done and a cap also fixed on the tooth, but to my dismay the pain in that tooth still remains. Again Xray was conducted and I was given to understand that the tooth had no problem and the root canal was success. Still they could not identify the problem. What is the solution now?

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
hi sunil!!!i first thing would like to know is how many days has it been since ur root canal treatment and secondly how is the intensity of pain.sometimes the pain remains after the treatment for about a week to 10 days but keeps decreasing in intensity every passing day. if the intensity of pain continues to b the same then it needs intervention.cant comment anything for sure without the xray.u can take a second opinion from another dentist.
