Dear Sir/Madam, I am Prabhu and my problem is, my last teeth is paining terribly. My age 30 and right now I am in living in Hyderabad. Pleas Suggest.

MDS - Orthodontics
Dentist, Faridabad
The third molar would be causing the problem. Clinical examination is advised to confirm the damage. Treatment can then be planned whether to save or remove the tooth.

Dentist, Mumbai
Aradhana you are having yellow teeth with bleeding gums and smell from mouth this all problems in gums can be due to poor oral health . Do 10 % H2O2 mouthwash . visit dental surgeon for checkup and for bleeding from gums you need to take care of your teeth and maintain good oral hygiene, like brushing your teeth twice a day with colgate fresh mint tooth paste ,regular rinse with Mouthwashes (listerine )after meals.

I have chronic bad breath issues. I have been to dental clinic and all seems fine. Need help now what to do or where to approach.

BDS
Dentist, Jodhpur
Bad breath, technically known as halitosis, may occur due to several reasons. Most common cause is bad oral hygiene. If you r maintaining good oral hygiene than other reasons could be related to your stomach and intestines. Bad breath may also result due to acidity in stomach or may be due to constipation. Dry mouth can also be the reason. So consult your dentist and physician for the needful. Drink plenty of water and have more of juicy fruits.

Sir I had faced accident at the age of 13 years and I lost my teeth, and now I am 22 years old so I think to fit my new teeth is it harmful to me?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

You may need replacement with removable or fixed (bridges & implants) type of teeth. Implants are not recommended in uncontrolled diabetes. Cost varies with dentist. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

A mouth rinse, in addition to daily brushing and flossing, can increase the cleanliness of your mouth. Antimicrobial mouth rinses reduce bacteria and plaque activity, which cause gingivitis and gum disease. Fluoride mouth rinses also help reduce and prevent tooth decay. Always talk to your dentist about any new products you are interested in trying. Not everyone should use a fluoride mouth rinse. For instance, fluoride rinses are not recommended for children ages 6 or younger because they may swallow them. Always check the manufacturer's label for precautions and age recommendations and talk with your dentist about the use of fluoride mouth rinse.

I am 28 years female and my problem is that tongue is getting black spots and it keeps increasing. Almost half of my tongue has gone black now. I have never smoked or never drink and I also brush and scrap my tongue regularly. I have recently checked my tooth and there is not even any cavity or any tooth problem. Could you pls provide a remedy as it is very visible.

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
The first step you should take when trying to get rid of unsightly black spots on the tongue is to alter your oral hygiene routine. Brush your teeth at least twice a day to help remove particles throughout the mouth that might be contributing to the dark pigmentation throughout your mouth. Be sure to gently brush the tongue or use a tongue cleaner to help remove the buildup that is turning your tongue black. Be careful to do this gently to avoid causing damage to the tongue and keep the toothbrush and tongue cleaner you use sanitized so that the bacteria does not grow on these devices. When you are suffering from hairy tongue syndrome you can clean your mouth to help remove the fungus causing the coloring, but you will need to get rid of the root cause of the problem if you do not want the black growths to return. Cutting down on drinking tea or coffee and altering your diet can help you avoid these symptoms so that you are not dealing with a constant fungal infection in your mouth. If you notice that you are developing a great deal of fungus in your mouth or that the fungus is growing quickly, contact your doctor to see if you need additional treatment to get rid of the fungus. Your doctor may also have tips that you can use to help clean mouth. If you have recently had a tongue piercing or oral surgery it is likely that the black pigmentation in your mouth is just a bruise. Follow any instructions given to you by your doctor or piercing artist regarding keeping your mouth clean to avoid infection. If the pigmentation does not lessen or go away after one or two weeks you can consult with a dermatologist to help ensure that the coloring in your mouth is not a symptom of serious damage to your mouth. Black spots on the tongue that are accompanied by other symptoms such as growths in the mouth, pain or difficulty swallowing should be checked by your doctor as soon as possible.

Since teeth cleaning is as important for children as for adults, they should use a toothbrush which has a small round head and soft bristles. It helps in cleaning their milk teeth thoroughly.

I'm 26 male from kerala last few years i'm badly affected with bad breath. Actually I brushed 2 times per day.

Dear bad breath could be due to following factors: 1. Improper brushing time and technique - best time to brush for optimum results are after breakfast and after dinner. The technique will be shown to you by a good dental surgeon specialist - so do take your brush with you. 2. Deposits- around teeth - only a dental surgeon can remove them for you, if your gums are badly affected then he may recommend further investigations and treatment for you. 3. Constant bad throat or sinusitis - the same needs to be treated. 4. Constant stomach problems and indigestion - the cause of the same has to be looked into and treated. 5. Talking after a long time - when we do not talk for some time the saliva so accumulated also gives a bad smell - so do drink water more frequently. 6. If you are ingesting paan, paarag, alcohol and smoking - all these need to be taken stopped immediately. Hope this is comprehensive enough guidance for you.

My teeth have lost its whiteness. They have turned yellowish in colour. I brush daily daily using X-TAR toothpaste but there is no change in the colour. Please provide some tips to remove yellowish colour in teeth.

BDS
Dentist, Ghaziabad
If the natural color of your teeth is yellow then only bleaching can help. But depends wether your teeth r suitable for the procedure or not. Secondly if the yellowish stains r present then scaling followed by polishing will sort out your problem.

Saving your Child's teeth Series : 3

Most of the children have decay today of their milk teeth. Sometimes, it is a very painful experience for the child and traumatic for the parents to see their child go through that pain and discomfort at that age. Do remember if your child's milk tooth or teeth are decayed - it will result in 2 problems later on:
a. Irregular teeth - which would require braces treatment later - possibly with extraction of few permanent teeth.
b. Decay on the permanent teeth - which erupt between 6 to 14 years of age.

So saving milk teeth is very important. Never breast feed or milk feed your child during passage to sleep or during sleep - AFTER 18 MONTHS of age.

In case of decay always get the same treated at the early stage than when the decay has destroyed the tooth badly. Always better to have a dental check up by 1st BIRTHDAY of the child.

I don't why you had gone for all those tests but if it's only blood in spit just get a scaling done from a dentist.

Drinking a cup of tea everyday helps in keeping the gums and teeth healthy as it contains high amounts of flouride and flavonoids which prevent harmful bacteria from sticking to the teeth.

My son is two years old. He brushes his teeth twice a day using kidodent tooth paste. But he does not spit the brushed paste. He often swallows them. Doctor I want to know whether any problems would affect him or wat.

PG Fellowship In Microdentistry, BDS
Dentist, Thane
It can lead to some problem but its always better if he spits, use a very small amount of toothpaste 1/4th - 1/2 the size of a pea, not more. The kid toothpaste are specially designed with reduced fluoride contents to prevent any problems with ingestion of the paste, but its always better if you put him to the habit of spitting.
