Tell her that remaining immobile would lead to osteoporosis and further weaken her bones. Also the muscles can atrophy over a period of time if not put to use. All of this would make her feel even more tired and this would precipitate a vicious cycle. Hope this helps.

Immediately After Surgery Diet After Bone-Fracture Surgery Initially, eat bland foods like crackers and broth. Before your surgery -- if it wasn't an emergency -- you probably weren't permitted to have any food or drink. For a few days after surgery, you may have no appetite. Before your discharge from the hospital, you will be required to consume liquids and possibly a light snack -- such as crackers. Initially, stick with bland foods, such as crackers and broth. Balanced Diet Diet After Bone-Fracture Surgery A balanced diet can help you maintain a healthy body weight weight and your wellness as you recover from bone surgery. The National Academy of Sports Medicine recommends 2,000 calories daily if you're not dieting. If you're attempting to shed excess pounds, get at least 1,200 calories if you're a woman and 1,500 to 1,800 calories if you're a man; eating too few calories can slow your metabolism and the healing process. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and aim to eat a balanced snack or meal every three to four hours for maintained energy. A balanced diet should include a variety of healthy foods, such as lean meats, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy products and whole grains. Vitamin D and Calcium Diet After Bone-Fracture Surgery Egg yolks are a good source of vitamin D. Vitamin D can facilitate bone healing, according to Civesta Medical Center. It helps your body absorb calcium, which is necessary for bone growth, healing and development. Without adequate amounts of vitamin D and calcium, your body will take calcium from your bones. This can delay healing. Vitamin D can be found in fish, egg yolks, margarine and fortified milk. Top calcium sources include canned salmon, fortified milk and yogurt, almonds and cooked, dark-green vegetables. Considerations Diet After Bone-Fracture Surgery Be sure to eat enough protein. Get an adequate amount of protein to speed healing of your incision. The amount you need is based on your weight. The National Academy of Sports Medicine suggests multiplying your weight by .36 to determine how much protein you should get daily. For example, if you weigh 130 pounds, you should get 46.8 grams of protein. Talk to your doctor before beginning any vitamin or calcium supplements after bone-fracture surgery. Exercise is also an important part of staying healthy. Although bone-fracture surgery can drastically limit participation in physical activities, talk to your doctor about permissible activities. Depending on the nature of your injury, you may be allowed to engage in low-impact activities or do physical therapy exercises as you heal.

Hi, You may be suffering from severe arthritis. Please take out an MRI of the knees to know the extent of the damage occured to the joint and revert back with the reports. Time being, apply Rhumatil gel to the knees 3-4 times per day and give hot water fomentation. Do not take pain killers orally for long duration. Do not use Indian toilets and do not squat on the floor. Also get your serum calcium and Vit. D3 levels checked.

First of all check your posture when you are lifting any material like heavy bucket . And try to lift the heavy bucket without bending your back . you may lift the bucket after bending your knees only. This will definitely help you. * Gentle massage with lukewarm mustard oil of your waist area will also give you relief. * Surya Namaskar is only exercise which you need to do. * In diet vegetable protein of cereal , B complex supplements and half teaspoon of haldi in a cup of milk for seven days will give you enough relief.

Requires detailed investigation and examination Presently investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d xray of the affected part. Anyway you may try sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head do hot fomentation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

Good it might of recurred due to degenerative changes and tried with special footwear do continue the same and get it clinically examined by musculoskeletal physiotherapist to start ift and laser therapy to relieve the pain of 15 day course regularly best wishes

Hi, please follow these tips to stop snoring: - reduce your weight if you are obese. - perform pranayama (breathing exercises) everyday. - quit smoking which irritates the mucosal layer of the nose and throat and causes blockage and results in snoring. - quit alcohol and sedatives which relax the throat muscles and results in snoring. - sleep on sides instead on back. - elevate the head by using a thick pillow which eases the breathing. - clear the nose before going to bed. - establish regular sleep pattern. - keep the bedroom air moist by using humidifier; as dry air irritates the mucosal membrane in the nose and throat. - perform throat exercises like repeating the vowels a, e, i, o, you loudly for 2-3 mins few times a day or keeping the tongue behind the teeth and moving it backwards - 3-4 times a day. - anti snoring appliances can also be used.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. This type of periscapular pain is very common and could be fibromyalgia. If there is no swelling or any other s/s of inflammation, I would advise you to undergo: - intensive physical therapy for strengthening of your periscapular muscles - adequate calcium and vitamin d intake which is important - a short course of gentle anti inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or tab paracetamol can also be initiated along with physical therapy - hot water fomentation at home and application of analgesic spray like dynapar qps spray for local application can be done after fomentation. But your mainstay of management will remain intensive physical therapy, so try to find out a good rehab & physical therapy center at your place. Dear you can follow these methods for relief from backache (back pain): * first correct your sitting posture. Do not bend your lower back. You can use lumber belt for support. * do regular back strength exercises. Move your clockwise and anticlock wise. * do not sleep on very soft bed, sleep on slight hard cotton mattress. * do tadasana and bhjangasana for back strengthening. If you can not understand these asans you can consult me. * take calcium rich diet and calcium and vitamin d supplements regularly. *do not take any heavy weight or heavy work. * if you are over weight then follow a good and effective diet plan to loose some kilos of weight. Stop drinking. It does no good. This treatment is being suggested on bases of the information provided. I would like to examine & investigate you in detail. Rule out Hypertension, Diabetes or other metabolic disorder. Any way it may be tried, --. Dolokind Plus (Mankind) [Aceclofenac 100 mg +Paracetamol 350 mg] 1 tab. OD & SOS. X 5 days. --. Caldikind plus (Mankind) 1 tab OD x 10 days. (You may need help of your local doctor to get these medicines.) --. Fomentation with warm water. Avoid direct flow of AC or Cooler. --. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding. --. Use no pillow under the head. --. Avoid painful acts & activities. -- .Do mild exercises for Knee & Legs. Foot & ankle. Do not ignore, let it not become beginning of a major problem. Do ask for a detailed treatment plan. Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.

I am ajay 20 years old and I am suffering from back pain and neck pain frequently. What I should do?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back and neck pains. If you have localized back & neck pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back & neck while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of your neck & lower back region and few blood tests for evaluation.
