What kind of teeth problems you have. Kindly visit your dentist once in 6 months for routine dental checkup. Avoid having sticky food and sweets before going to bed. Brush your teeth twice daily using correct brushing technique to maintain your oral hygiene. More than the toothpaste it is the correct brushing technique which is important to maintain your oral hygiene.

I Have bleeding in my teeth after sleeping y what the reason for that give me any suggestions about this problem.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
I Have bleeding in my teeth after sleeping y what the reason for that give me any suggestions about this problem.
1. The most common reason for spontaneous nocturnal gum bleeding is periodontitis, or inflammatory gum disease. This is due to the gum's physiologic response to bacterial irritants (dental plaque), which induce all the classical signs of inflammation (redness, swelling, pain, loss of function). Most relevant of the effects of gum inflammation is the phenomenon where the tiny blood vessels that course through the gum tissues become engorged, more fragile, and more easily ruptured, causing bleeding. 2. Spontaneous bleeding can also arise due to some impairment in the clotting mechanism-- either unintentional (due to disease) or intentional (administration of blood-thinning drugs). 3. Gums can also bleed due to physical injury in the mouth, or some tissue lesion or disease state that manifests in the mouth. In cases of gum bleeding, I generally recommend that the patient schedule a diagnostic visit with their dentist. Depending on the presence and severity of gum disease, it may be necessary to implement various different types of treatments to control the progressive damage that may result to the supporting tissues of the teeth.

Hi. There could be cavity in tooth causing pain. Mostly it might go for root canal treatment or if its wisdom tooth then go for extraction. A xray would surely confirm diagnosis.

The Chemistry between Calcium and Teeth

MDS Prosthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Mohali
The Chemistry between Calcium and Teeth

Calcium phosphate is the main component of the tooth enamel so any deficiency in calcium can cause damage to the enamel. Calcium is not only required for having healthy teeth but also healthy bones and heart.

Healthy teeth are a sign of good overall health and wellbeing. There are many factors that impact the health of the teeth such as improper diet, smoking, and sugar.

Benefits of calcium for teeth

  • Calcium reduces the chances of losing a teeth
  • It reduces chances of cavities
  • Calcium, when combined with a proper nutritious diet, helps in increasing the longevity of the teeth
  • Calcium can reduce chances of gum disease
  • Calcium along with other minerals also help in improving blood supply around the teeth area
  • A calcium compound, amorphous calcium phosphate helps in fluoride absorption in the tooth enamel
  • It limits loss of mass in the jawbone
  • Calcium also fortifies the bones around the jaw to reduce bone problems such as loss of bone structure as one gets older
  • It helps in protecting the teeth from acidic components that cause tooth decay

To have healthy teeth, one needs to have a balanced diet that meets the regular calcium requirements besides following a healthy lifestyle.

The type of treatment you have for toothache /sensitivity/swelling will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.

Blood comes out from teeth and from some days I feels that my teeth is not strongly jointed with muscles.
We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks.

child's oral hygiene tips
A childs first tooth appears around 6months of age. Oral care should be strarted from then only. Wipe the teeth with clean gauze pieces. Do not let the baby sleep with milk bottles in their mouth. By the age of 2 yrs supervise the childs brushing twice a day with a fluoridated paste of only a pea sized quantity in rotatory motions. Make yr childs dental visits every 6months a priority.

Temporary or milk teeth should be preserved till the permanent coming teeth are on the way. The opg helps diagnosis. Remove the mobile milk teeth. Teeth without pain could be filled with GIC. 400 per tooth or composite 1000 per tooth. Teeth with pain needs pulpotomy and restoration. Which could cost upto 2500 per tooth.

My one teeth is half broken & another one is 1/3rd broken. What should I do. So that no one knows about my fallen teeth. Pls give me some advice.

BDS
Dentist, Pune
Broken teeth are successfully restored in today's modern dental practice. First aim should be to save the broken tooth if it is in the limit of restoration. Half broken teeth might need root canal treatment to save it. And other one might be saved with simple restoration. Share your pics if you can.

Dazzling Smile with Perfectly White Teeth

Dazzling Smile with Perfectly White Teeth

We all look at pictures of our favorite celebrities and long to have that perfect while smile showing off well-aligned teeth. However, due to various reasons, our teeth do not seem to be like theirs. Some of the reasons for the not-so-white teeth include:

  1. Food habits like excessive cola, coffee, tea
  2. Tobacco chewing and smoking
  3. Fluoride deposits seen in people in which the community water has excessive fluoride content
  4. Ageing
  5. Side effect of medications like tetracyclines.

However, with teeth achieving major cosmetic value, a lot of developments have happened and now a set of white pearls need not just be a dream. Whether it is just one tooth which is oddly colored or the entire set has taken on a darker shade, teeth whitening procedure comes to the rescue. It is well within the reach of most people, with options that can be managed both in the office and at the convenience of your homes.

Whatever the technique, the basic chemical is the same, hydrogen peroxide, which is a well-known bleaching agent. This works very well on extrinsic stains and may take repeated visits to the dentist to whiten teeth with intrinsic stains like fluorosis.

Things to remember:

Before going ahead with teeth whitening, the dentist will inform you that:

  1. Cavities need to be treated before teeth can be whitened
  2. Receded gums need to be treated before teeth whitening
  3. Any crown work that is pending should be done before the teeth whitening can be done.

Once all the above mentioned things have been take care of, the next step is to clean the teeth completely. This cleaning will ensure that your teeth are free of bacteria and other deposits. The patient's impressions are then taken to make customized trays.

The dentist will provide you with a kit, which contains the trays and the bleaching material. The material should be applied on to the trays, left in place in the mouth to produce the bleaching effect. This may need to be repeated for about 2 to 3 weeks.

Types:

Whitening can be done on vital teeth or on non-vital teeth-

  1. Vital teeth are usually bleached in the clinic, where the bleaching agent is applied on the tooth. It is then activated by a laser light to produce the active chemical that whitens the teeth. If the staining is excessive, then in-house vital tooth whitening may be followed by a couple of home applications.
  2. Non-vital teeth: Teeth which are root canal treated turn brown over a period of time. Whitening these root canal treated teeth is known as non-vital tooth whitening.

So, if you are not happy with your set of teeth, there is always a solution – get them whitened and see your smile broaden.
