Waht do we do for the conservative management of hillsach or benkart lesion? Other than surgery would I go physiotherapy?

If you have bankart and hillsachs, best treatment is surgery. Other treatments are not useful. You have to avoid position which cause pain or dislocation. You must visit shoulder Arthroscopy surgeon.

Dear, According to Ayurveda joint pain is known as Sandhigata vata. With increase in age vata dosha is predominant in human body that is why with aging disease caused by vata dosha increases in body. Joint pain is a common symptom with many possible causes. Joint Pain and Arthritis are the one of the most devastating conditions faced by individuals, particularly elderly women today. When there is pure Vata dosha involvement (a pain without swelling or discoloration) then the massage with medicated ayurvedic oil is quite useful & supplement is helpful in balancing bodily humors ?vata, which is responsible dosha for Sandhigata vata . Dear Ms. Vyshnavi, As your sister has as a hyperechoic or heterogeneous lesion in the thyroid, it would be wise to do an FNAC. Even if it is cancer, thyoid cancers are oftten slow growing and many safe treatment options as well as surgery is available.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am dr akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. The information which I gather from your question is that you have been tested as hla b27 positive. As you have mentioned there are multiple conditions in which it can be tested as positive but most common is ankylosing spondylitis, other associations have different symptoms as well. This is a genetically linked disease hence as of now there is no permanent cure for it, but new medications are available which help in disease control. You need a very active lifestyle with intensive regular physical therapy, take adequate calcium and vitamin d supplementation you also need to be in touch of a rheumatologist as it needs a long term supervised care. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena

Tennis Elbow - Tips To Help You Prevent It!

Tennis Elbow - Tips To Help You Prevent It!

Tennis elbow is a condition which is characterized by a sharp pain on the outer portion of the elbow. This condition is also called ‘lateral epicondylitis’ and it occurs when the muscles of the elbow are overused. The symptoms of pain tend to occur near the forearm when you bend your elbow or try to grip an object.

The elbow joint comprises of muscles which facilitate movement of the wrist, elbows and the fingers. There are tendons present in the elbow which join the muscles and bones, thus regulating the forearm muscles. When the muscles of the elbow are overused, then it can lead to inflammation and tears in the muscles.

This condition is so called as it is usually caused by playing certain sports, primarily tennis. It may also be caused by activities that put repetitive stress on the elbow. If the same pain occurs around the inner portion of the elbow, it is called a ‘golfer’s elbow’.

The best treatment method to prevent tennis elbow is to strengthen your elbow muscles. You need to follow a regulated strength and stretching program directed at strengthening the muscles of the body, including the elbows.

Here are some tips to prevent tennis elbow:

  1. Try to stay in good shape physically.
  2. Use proper technique when you are carrying out any activity that involves the elbow.
  3. Avoid overstressing the elbow joint with repetitive movements as it can cause injury to the tendon.
  4. The muscles of the shoulder, arm and the upper back should be strengthened to prevent tennis elbow.
  5. For movements that require you to twist your arm or grasp things, you can use a counter force brace to protect your elbow. This brace is worn on the forearm which redistributes pressure on the muscle. A counter force brace is recommended for people who are at an increased risk of tennis elbow.

I am male age 54 running. No B.P/ Sugar. Weight 82 kg. Past two months I am noticed cracking sound in my knee joints. My food habits no alcohol / pure vegetarian from child hood please advice.

Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch.
