Stress and Homeopathy

Stress and Homeopathy

Stress is the physical or emotional response of the body to an internal or external stimulus that upsets the equilibrium of the body. The contemporary lifestyle causes a lot of stress, which may have adverse impacts on your health. The stress hormones which are secreted in animals only during starvation, childbirth or torture are secreted in human beings all the time.

Natural remedies like homeopathy can be used to combat stress without harmful side effects. Since stress is responsible for several health problems and homeopathy aims at eliminating the root cause of said disorders, these remedies can cure a lot of stress related problems too.

The common homeopathic medicines used to deal with stress are:

  1. Arsenicum album: It is beneficial for people who are anxious, fastidious, nervous or excessively critical. It is also used for patients who exhibit tendencies of paranoia, such as arriving hours early for an appointment out of an irrational fear of being late.
  2. Calcarea carbonica: It is an appropriate remedy for work related stress or burnout. Often, people feel an intense amount of pressure at their workplaces because they feel that they are constantly being watched and evaluated, and are afraid of making even minor mistakes or have strict deadlines to meet.
  3. Gelsemium: Gelsemium is an immediate solution to anxiety and apprehension caused by an upcoming event such as a performance, an interview or a test. Gelsemium can relieve symptoms like short-term paralysis, increased pulse rate, dizziness, nausea and indigestion.
  4. Argentum nitricum: It is useful for nervous fits and impulses caused by suggestibility and extreme mental exertion.
  5. Ignatia amara: This is used to deal with depression caused by stress factors like humiliation, fear, guilt and loss. People who go into shock can also be treated with Ignatia amara.
  6. Kali phosphoricum: It can provide relief from exhaustion due to overwork or prolonged illness. The patient becomes over sensitive, anxious and feels unable to cope with stress.
  7. Natrum muriaticum: It is the treatment for symptoms like insomnia, claustrophobia, frequent headaches and pain around the eyes. It is also used to treat stress caused by isolation and dejection.
  8. Pulsatilla: It is a remedy for mild or violent mood swings caused by stress. The patient may alternate between over excitement and depression within a very short period of time.
  9. Sepia: It is a homeopathic medicine that is used to treat patients of stress who have developed cognitive defect and memory problems.

A little things make me very sad and i" ll be in worry. please Dr. Give me some tips.
STRESS CONTROL There are many ways to tame your stress and keep it at bay. Here are 20 tips to tame your stress today, and keep the stress monsters at bay. 1. Perform diaphragmatic or deep breathing exercises. 2. Lie face down on the floor and begin breathing deeply and slowly, with your hands resting under your face. Do this for five minutes. 3. Sit in a reclining chair. Put a hand on your abdomen and a hand on your chest. As you breathe, make sure the hand on your abdomen is moving up and down rather than one on your chest. If the hand on your abdomen is moving you are breathing deeply and slowly. 4. Try progressive muscle relaxation or “deep muscle” relaxation. Progressively tense and relax each muscle group in your body. Learn the difference between muscle tension and relaxation. 5. Meditate. Use visualization or imagery to help you learn to be one with your thoughts. Sit quietly with your eyes closed, imagining the sights, sounds and smells of your favorite place, such as a beach or mountain retreat. 6. Exercise regularly or take up yoga. 7. Consult a psychologist about the use of biofeedback 8. Make time for music, art or other hobbies that help relax and distract you. 9. Learn to identify and monitor stressors. Come up with an organized plan for handling stressful situations. Be careful not to overgeneralize negative reactions to things. 10. Make a list of the important things you need to handle each day. Try to follow the list so you feel organized and on top of things. Put together a coping plan step by step so you have a sense of mastery. 11. Keep an eye on things that might suggest you’re not coping well. For example, are you smoking or drinking more, or sleeping less? 12. Keep a list of the large and little hassles in your day versus the major stressful events in your life. This helps you focus on the fact that you’re keeping track of and managing those as well as you can. 13. Set aside a time every day to work on relaxation.

At you age probably you are studying a lot, or are under stress to perform well in the exams or moving around too much in the hot sun. Actually there are a number of reasons which can cause headache. Since you are having headache for last 2 weeks, it would be better for you to go a doctor who will check your all other parameters and give you appropriate medicine. Please do not take medicines on your own, it is harmful. There is a lot of difference between feeling sad and feeling depressed" depression" is a very intense feeling and a depressed person becomes almost non-functional, inactive and many times suicidal. So please be aware of your real feelings. Are you feeling sad and low or are you feeling depressed? don't allow temporary set backs to discourage you. You are very young. Try to learn new skills, pursue studies of your interests. Have a realistic dream and make a concrete plan to achieve that dream. Please remember, in this world only one person can help you all the time and that person is yourself. Have faith in yourself. Take care.

Hye, Thanks for the query. As a student your energy needs are different due to growth, development needs and also you need the right nutrition to help concentrate in studies. To stay fit and healthy you need to eat as per what your body needs. Try to avoid long gaps in between meals. Do not fast for long hours. This will help avoid binging in the next meal. Do not skip breakfast. If you want to adopt a healthy diet includes a variety of foods from the major food groups: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, and lean protein including beans and other legumes, nuts and seeds, and healthy fats. Include foods you can find in your local grocery store  — rather than specialty non local foods. Local and seasonal foods always give us the right nutrients. Do consider your health risks if you have any when choosing foods. Stay away from calorie-laden, fatty and salty convenience and highly processed and junk foods. These are normally the foods we indulge in when we do not pay attention and are studying especially late at night. Avoid unwanted stress. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week for 20 minutes. Sleep well and drink plenty of water.

I want to build muscles. What type of diet and exercise I should follow. Meanwhile I feel hard to concentrate on studies and feel sleepy in class lectures.

1. Protein is the key for the muscle building. Without adequate protein, muscle gain and growth is not possible because weight training demands for amino acids (which comes from protein). You should daily eat about 2.2g of protein per kilogram of your weight. For example, if you are 50kg, then you should eat 50x2.2=111g of protein spread over 5-6 meals in the day. Include high protein foods in your diet. Your protein intake should be from foods rather than from supplements. Good protein foods: beans, soybeans, whey, fish, dairy products (low fat variety), meats, nuts and seeds (almonds, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds), peanut butter. Many of these are easy digestible foods.----------------- milk is one of the best muscle foods. The milk contains two high quality proteins, about 80 percent whey and 20 percent casein. Whey is quickly broken down into amino acids and absorbed into the bloodstream. Whey is very good to consume after workout. Casein is digested more slowly and provides the body with a steady supply of protein for a longer period of time. Cheese is concentrated milk, so it is high in protein and calcium, fat and cholesterol. Include healthy skim yogurt in your diet, which can give you as much as 120 calories.

General Physician,
Research-based strategies to boost your memory and keep it strong 7 Strategies for Remembering 1. Become interested in what you're learning. We're all better remembering what interests us. Few people, for example, have a difficult time remembering the names of people they find attractive. If you're not intrinsically interested in what you're learning or trying to remember, you must find a way to become so. 2. Find a way to leverage your visual memory. You'll be surprised by how much more this will enable you to remember. For example, imagine you're at a party and are introduced to five people in quick succession. How can you quickly memorize their names? Pick out a single defining visual characteristic of each person and connect it to a visual representation of their name, preferably through an action of some kind. Remember: Memory is predominantly visual. 3. Create a mental memory tree. If you're trying to memorize a large number of facts, find a way to relate them in your mind visually with a memory tree. Construct big branches first, then leaves. Branches and leaves should carry labels that are personally meaningful to you in some way, and the organization of the facts ("leaves") should be logical.. 4. Associate what you're trying to learn with what you already know. It seems the more mental connections we have to a piece of information, the more successful we'll be in remembering it. This is why using mnemonics. Write out the items to be memorized over and over and over. 5. When reading for retention, summarize each paragraph in the margin. This requires you to think about what you're reading, recycle it, and teach it to yourself again. Even take the concepts you're learning and reason forward with them; apply them to imagined novel situations, which creates more neural connections to reinforce the memory. 6. Do most of your studying in the afternoon. Though you may identify yourself as a "morning person" or "evening person" at least one Study. suggests your ability to memorize isn't influenced as much by what time of day you perceive yourself to be most alert but by the time of day you actually study—afternoon appearing to be the best. 7. Get adequate sleep to consolidate and retain memories. Not just at night after you've studied but the day, you study as well. Far better to do this than to stay up cramming all night for an exam.

Feeling depressing to think about my studies and career .can't get rid of that, because of that I am unable to sleep ...
Hi it seems you are spending more time worrying about your future and worrying about the lack of sleep rather than trying to work on what you should do now. You also seem to be lacking goals and plans. So better start working on planning what you should do now and how you should spend your available time usefully. This will make even your lack of sleep a boon because it will provide you more time for you to work and complete the tasks which you intend to complete. If you have difficulty in doing this the consult a clinical psychologist in your vicinity.

hi, I can understand your feelings. But if the doctors are suggesting that your problem is irreversible then don't fight with it. Just accept it. You have tried your best. Now it's time to concentrate on your strength not on your weakness. Find a job which is suitable to your present health condition. Now a days many options are available. Keep Helen Keller or Prof. Stephen Hawking's example in your mind. When they can why can't you. All the best regards Sunita

Hi, I have stutter/stammer from as long as I can remember. I am 27 now, the biggest problem is, I can speak fluently with the family members and friends but I stutter/stammer when speaking to a stranger or in a group or while presenting something. I have been doing the reading and repeating exercises from last 2-3 years but nothing seems to help. Any advice would be helpful.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Stammering can be made lesser only and only by speech therapy. So you should take the help of a speech therapist. Also, i'd suggest you to visit a psychologist as confidence plays a great role in dealing with this problem. I'd suggest you to speak very slowly, word by word. People may make fun of this but believe me, slowly you'll get better at it.
