Don't directly spray perfumes on your body. Spray them on your clothes and wear them. Don't use deodorants or roll ons. Avoid face cosmetics for the time being. You can press powder onto your sunscreen if at all you want to use a cosmetic. Drink two litres of water everyday. Pick up carrots, papaya, pumpkin, black grapes to have everyday. These contain important antioxidants and phytonutrients which vil soften your skin. Do not stress over anything. Pray-itll distract you off your stress. You can use this do it yourself mask at home which vil give you an instant glow. Mix 1 tbsp puree each of papaya and carrot with 1 tbsp of curd and 1 tbsp of aloe vera. Apply it across your face or dull body part for ten to fifteen minutes and wash it off without soap. There are a lot of food which can bring back the glow in your skin. There, s more to them than just colours and being fruits and vegetables. They act at a molecular level to maintain the color, tone, texture of skin. Have plenty of fruits especially colored ones, blue and purple fruits like grapes, blackberries, blackcurrants, blueberries, plums, egg plants, strawberries, cranberries are rich in anthocyanin phytonutrients which is a potent antioxidant which repairs collagen and smoothes the skin. Tomatoes contain lycopene and they r the most powerful antioxidant which protects the skin from ageing effects like wrinkles, blemishes, pigmented spots, darkness and dullness. Hello, The diet recall you have provided is not sufficient to make judgement on the calories you should consume. You haven't mention the frequency and the intensity of workouts you do,since that plays a vital role in counting calories. From the above information i have,i feel you are lacking in good carbohydrates(which are very imp) and good quality proteins, increase on folic acid and iron intake as well. 5times a week workouts will be helpful.

My wife is suffering over bleeding in her periods time. kindly suggest amy medicine particularly home medicine if possible.

BHMS
Homeopath,
Hello there are many causes as to why excessive bleeding during menstruation occurs. The reasons could be fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, etc. Before suggesting any medicine, it is important to know the diagnosis and hence it would be advisable to get a usg (sonography) of the pelvis done.

I'm 18 years old but I have not proper beard hair so please suggest me what can I do.

B.Sc. - Dietitics / Nutrition, Nutrition Certification,Registered Dietitian
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Delhi
Beard is purely genetic make up. It could be a pituitary issue, hair follicle or their lack of, or could possible even be genetics. To make hair grow you need to stimulate, moisturize, and cleanse. Use a soft bristle scrub brush for the face and use circular motions using a eucalyptus, menthol, and/or peppermint type cleanser or lotion. The invigoration of the brush and cleanser/moisturizer will wake up that hair follicles and gives them a signal to produce. Make a mixture of Argan oil, Jojoba oil, sesame oil and olive oil and massage your beard and moustache daily to grow and maintain black and smooth hair.

Is it advisable to start medicine post diagnosis of thyroid. There is general perception that thyroid can be cured by developing a healthy lifestyle and if medicines are started it has to be continued for lifetime.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr. Lybrate-user, I am not aware of what you have mentioned about hypothyroidism treatment. This a hormone deficiency condition. Since thyroxine is required daily for brain development and functioning, plus for every single metabolic reaction in the body, it has to be made available. Adapting modified lifestyle is not going to stimulate thyroid gland to produce thyroxine. So I am not aware from where this information is generated. If hypothyroidism is diagnosed immediate treatment has to be initiated or else there can serious consequences. Treatment has to be for lifetime. There is no option.

5 Surefire Ways to Keep the Spark Alive in Your Relationship

5 Surefire Ways to Keep the Spark Alive in Your Relationship

Relationships are one of the best experiences you can have in your life. They bring in a myriad of feelings and emotions. But that doesn't mean maintaining a happy and healthy relationship is very easy, because it is one of the most difficult things to do. It is extremely important to keep the spark alive in your relationship. It is this spark, which helps you keep your relationship happy, safe, satisfying as well as ALIVE. Here are 5 ways you can do that:

  1. Do things together: When you are in a relationship for a long time, it is very common to drift apart and communicate less with each other. This might create an invisible wall between you to. Start doing everyday things together. If not every day, then make it a point to do something together at least once or twice a week. Cook together, do the laundry together, do grocery shopping together, clean the house together or just watch the television together. It will bring you closer to your better half. The wall which might have come up between you both will disintegrate eventually, and you will be able to revive your relationship to its former glory.
  2. Surprise: Surprise each other from time to time. May be you could get flowers for each other one day or slip in a sweet note in his or her wallet. Small surprises are very much appreciated and even if they are not something huge, they will help you make your partner smile.
  3. Go out on dates: Even if you are married, it doesn't matter. Take your partner out on a date night. Go for a movie, followed by a dinner and then a romantic walk or drive. It is very important for you to spend some exclusive time with each other, keeping all the humdrums of life aside.
  4. Do not nag: Every one dislikes a person who keeps nagging or cribbing. No one will want to spend time with that person. Not even your partner. Be the person he/she would want to be and spend time with. Be someone he/she can connect with and enjoy being with.
  5. Touch each other: That doesn't mean a sexual touch alone. Hug each other, hold hands when you are walking, rub each other's shoulders, even give each other a massage if you can. It will just make you feel more connected to each other.

Have very low energy levels. Don't know why. I had been the fastest athlete at school and still would be faster than most of the people around. However, I don't feel excited about anything. Feel low and drained for most of the time. Have gastric issues with irregular bowel movements. Tried exercising for a week but that didn't help but leaded to further fatigue. I tend to get irritated very soon and can feel irritation in my gut when feeling irritated. I struggle with responding spontaneously but can produce best of responses given time. Lack of spontaneity adversely impacts both at home and at work as well. Please suggest some remedy.

You need to explain about the psychiatric hospitalization that you mention. What was that for? From your description it sounds like you are into a depression. Your past glories are no consequence right now. What you are doing to yourself is important: to me it appears that a lot of your health problems are psychosomatic in nature and may present real medical complications and will demand medical intervention too. Please meet with a counselor and work on your emotions, particularly anger. Your expectations on yourself may be a wee bit high too. You should consume a lot of pro-biotic foods to stabilize your stomach. Then gradually you can introduce other healthy items into your diet and return your health to what it was before. Exercise is very important but you have to build on it developmentally. I am all for your exercise but when you are ready for it. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least 30 minutes but not in the scotching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive everyday and learn to be contended with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved. I wish you were more specific about the hospitalization to help you better.
